((Any student who is a preteen at the time this class was posted is permitted to post. Let's kick off the school year right, yo!))

Raven tidied a stack of textbooks on the table in her classroom, and checked the clock for the seventeenth time in the past three minutes. There were just five minutes before the class's scheduled starting time. Her cushy position of waiting around for the children to mature was over, and finally it was time for her classes to begin. It was actually a relief. For one thing, if Raven was teaching it meant she didn't have to play the role of mother or babysitter. For another, it kept her busy doing something she relatively enjoyed.

Hopefully her first batch of students wouldn't make her sorry she'd taken the job. Raven liked to think she had a good deal of teaching experience, but her pupils had never been genetically engineered children with dragons.

Speaking of dragons... "Kyrie, I expect you to watch the dragonkind to make sure they stay in line."

Kyrie cheeped boredly. Even though she knew all the dragons would be bigger than her, she could take any of them on without breaking a sweat. Not that it would come to violence, she hoped. Because if it did, she would probably get clouted on the nose.

Nodding in her own vague reply, Raven eyed the clock once more. Only four more minutes. The students were probably going to start wandering in soon.

He hurried along to the classroom as fast as his feet and flapping wings could take him hoping that he wasn't going to be late to the first class of the year. That wouldn't be a good way to start out at all especially when it was this class. His father had warned him they wouldn't be as laid back as the ones that he ran and he should know since he'd talked to the teacher of the class while Ligeia had been talking to Anoki.

He'd been interested in this class though ever since that meeting Anoki and Miss Raven, since he'd heard about being able to take classes where one would learn magic. He'd not thought such a thing was possible but learning that it was he wanted to devote himself to the learning of it. After all he was pretty sure he was gonna be lacking in that whole 'battle' class, if he were lucky he would be able to scrape by enough to pass. His interest in getting beat up he supposed just wasn't there.

Ligeia came to a fluttering stop in front of the door, a couple feathers floating down to the floor and got left behind as he looked inside, "Hello." He greeted the teacher, adjusting the bag that was on his shoulder before going into the classroom. His bag had all his supplies in it that his father said that he might need. He had a notebook, pencils, and a smalled wrapped package of frozen treats for Vorel who was bouncing along after him, mostly to keep him occupied and behaving.

The Frosty one paused at his side, looked up at the teacher then stepped closer to Ligeia after giving a "Mrrrawrawr!" of greeting.

((Going to assume this is after the sleepover, since yea... And um, we'll just avoid talking about it too much. XP ))

Keanu nodded a few times as his mum continued to babble on. Did he have this, that, was he going to be alright? Yes, yes he'd be fine. It was just a magic class after all. After another quick nod, he quickly turned, and headed into the D-Corp building before she could ask anything more. Most people would have liked all the worried attention she gave him, but Keanu's limit to it was her insistance to dress him in something 'nicer' today. Well, it was actually a rather nice outfit, he almost wanted to try, and keep it in one piece.

Brilliant red with golden designs to mimic pheonixs in various forms along it. A clasp at his through that ran down the middle to hold it together. A few more of the rather ornate buttons... If that's what they could be called, similar to the one at the top to hold that together. All in all, a nice medley of the two colors, with short sleeves. Which meant to got to wear his old bracelet, it was starting to actually fit better now. It had always been falling off when he was younger. Though it was perfect for this outfit. The entire thing looking like something out of a chinese wardrobe really, he hadn't asked where his mother got the outfit, but it was nice, and comfortable really. So it didn't matter. The problem was not tearing the soft, smooth cloth durring the day.

Oh well, he could try. He flicked an ear lightly, still getting used to the fact his mother had forbid he ruin the outfit by wearing the usual thing to keep back his bangs. No headgear today so to speak, instead she'd tied them back. She'd been rather thrilled with getting to play dress up with her son really. She'd even been late to work for once, insisting that a bad hair day was far worse than the boss giving her a talk. So he'd simply put up with it for once, and had gotten in exchange... Braided bangs pulled back, and his hair in one long braid. Somehow... It just didn't seem right, but he wasn't going to make a big deal out of it.

Sighing, he resisted the urge to loosen the braids, and continued walking along. He'd be late if he stopped anyway.

Moving quickly through the halls, he finally reached the room, praying that Raja's endless questions of if he'd be fine hadn't made him too late, and apparently he was only the second person to arrive. Well third... If you counted the dragon too. Well, that would keep Ymir happy, wouldn't it? He liked meeting the other dragons.

"Chrr!" The two toned dragon quickly pushed into the room, eager to greet the other dragon, and the teacher for that matter. He glanced at the pair curiously, before giving his tail an almost canine-like wag, and waiting to see how they'd react to that.

Keanu on the other hand walked in more respectfully after the dragon. Well, only a little. The boy quickly glanced around the room curiously, before turning his attention back to the other inhabitants. This was a spell class, right? Magic was another of those tings often found when you heard about heros, and such, thus another important skill. He didn't want to do something that might make the teacher send him out, or hate him. Not when he was actually interested in what they'd be teaching him.

"Hello, ma'am." He called with a smile, before turning to greet the owl. What was his name, ah yes... "And Ligeia, hi, long time no see." He added, grinning. Obviously worrying about upsetting people had quickly fled his mind, as he was back to being all smiles, and friendly. Being quiet wasn't exactly his strong point.

Well, it was about time. Raven turned to survey her new students. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise, quickly narrowing in disapproval. Looking presentable was one thing, looking gilded was quite another.

"I was hoping my students would have matured past playing dress-up," she said sternly. Still, there was nothing to be done. The class was almost ready to begin, and much as she would have liked to send them home to change into proper gear, it wasn't an option. "I suggest that by the time you begin my lessons in the laboratory, you begin wearing more reasonable clothes in my class. Unless you wish to have those covered in potion stains and charred at the hems, and gods only know what else. And do keep your dragons in line, or it will only be worse."

Once that was out of the way, she picked up a clipboard that was lying nearby on the desk and examined it. Even though she knew one of the students- it seemed to be the child in the care of the physical education teacher- everything had to be done properly and by the book. "Names please."

"Two-oh... oh, here it is!"

Truth be told, on hearing just which teacher she'd be having spell-casting class with, Indigo had been less-than-thrilled. It was an emotion her mother shared, given the running dispute between her and Ms. Millner--"I can teach the kid magic, dammit," she'd grumbled--but despite their mutual grousing it remained that Indigo was required to go to magic classes with an authorized instructor. So it was that the velvet worm, in her usual battered outfit plus the addition of close-toed shoes that she didn't like very much, had dawdled her way down the hallway to Ms. Millner's classroom with her dragon in tow.

Only just now had the colorful pair reached the door separating them from certain doom--only to have Indigo hang back while her dragon, scenting familiar members of her own kind, butted the door open with her horned head and announced herself to Vorel and Ymir: "Whrrrr!" A moment later and she was shouldering her way inside, wings rustling and tail wagging with ill-contained eagerness.

It was with a sigh and considerable remorse that Indigo grabbed the door before it could slam shut on Citrine's tail, and slid inside herself. At least learning about magic would be fun, and maybe Ms. Millner wouldn't be so scary as long as Mom wasn't around!

Ligeia glanced over, seeing Keanu and Ymir first then after a moment Indigo appeared with her dragon as well, oh good. There were people in the class that he knew! His wings gave a little flutter of relief and he felt for a moment as if maybe this would all be something he could do.

Then the teacher spoke.

Ligeia seemed a little confused, 'playing dress up?' he thought to himself, looking down at what he wore. This was a rather simple outfit compared to a lot of the ones he'd gotten. It didn't drag on the floor, it had a light tank top underneath so he could take off the over shirt in case it got hot, it was pants instead of some of the ones that seemed to be made more for girls. In fact he wore it for the color and it didn't seem to be 'unreasonable'.

Which got him on the thought process of 'what is reasonable clothing then?' He looked over at the teacher almost about to voice the thought then decided not to ask, she was... a little bit more then intimidating. He found himself stepping a little closer to Vorel, hand laying on the dragon as if of the two the dragon was less frightening, "Ahh... Y-Y-Eeees Ma'am." He studdered out.

His hand tightened on Vorel as she went over to fetch a clipboard expecting the worse only to be asked his name, "L-Ligeia Solon."

Leaping down the hall, Sahra made it her main goal to feet her feet off of the ground as much as humanely possible. No, for once she wasn't playing a game, she was actually being serious. Yin had forced her to put on shoes before coming to class, actual full toed shoes! They just made her feel so uncomfortable, even if they where thin, soft leather that was tight around her ankles and a portion of her lower leg. The cheetah just didn't think she could get used to wearing anything over her feet, at least not for extended periods of time, but this class shouldn't be overly long, should it?

She hoped not, oh well, she'd deal, much like with everything else she had gone through so far. At least she didn't have to worry about Ephrem acting up today, since he seemed rather dazed and calm for a change. And feeling rather comfortable in her attire, beside the shoe problem, sporting a black tank top with some odd rainbow coloured letting in another language she didn't recognize, and a bright red skirt, it was nothing unlike her.

"Oh, ah, this must be it?" Staring at the open door, she peeked in the room, trying to decide if this was really the real deal or not. Quickly taking a step back, the cheetah twisted her head around, just making one last check that her partner was still behind her. And sure enough, he was, eyes half closed and thick with an appearance of laziness, she knew now that he wouldn't be a problem, since he seemed to tolerate a lot more things when he was like this. "Good." She mumbled, turning back to the entrance that lie in front of her. "Well, here we go."

Striding in with a rather other looking gait, Sah peered about, determining quickly with the sight of a few familiar individuals and a much older appearing woman that she was indeed in the right place. "Phew." Muttering a few unknown things to herself, she looked over the inhabitants of the room, seeing as Ephrem had already wound himself once around her legs, as he normally did when she stopped for any extended period of time.

Yes ma'am, and a simple answer. Now that was more like it. Nodding curtly, Raven checked off Ligeia's name, and looked at the rest of her growing class. One of the newer arrivals was dressed ever so slightly better, though far too brightly for her own taste, and the other seemed to be... a clown? Recognition slowly sank in, and Raven gave a grim smile. So, the child of THAT woman was going to be in her class. That would make things interesting.

"You may sit anywhere you like, Mister Solon, and don't make me regret saying that." It was standard practice for her to let her students sit where they pleased the first class, and make adjustments after seeing how that worked. "Come now, let's move a bit faster. Who's next?"

'Dress up?' The thought ran through the boy's head as she spoke, mentally going over what he was wearing. Certainly is wasn't his normal attire, nothing like the torn, and quickly mended with bandage shirts. But... It wasn't anything too odd, right? Though he refrained from saying anything, just noting that he'd have to make sure his mum knew any clothes he wore might be let singed. She'd suggest the torn clothes then, which where his favourite anyway. He simply nodded in response to her words, watching as she went for the clipboard, and requested his name.

"Keanu, ma'am." He replied.

He simply had no last name, and so that was all there was to it. Now that he thought about it, neither did his mum. How peculiar. Oh well, that would be best saved for later to ask about. "And Ymir." He added quietly, attempting to be polite.

As the dragon glanced up at hearing it's name the boy montioned him over, and after his own quiet chirp, he moved over to rest near the boy's feet. Obviously now wasn't a time to play with the others. Though he didn't get much time to follow directions, as his attention perked at the loud sound of the other dragon. The one who had so easily bashed down the door before, now entered... and left it in one piece.

Well there went any chance of this being serious? Though entrance of the other girl, another he knew, only further said this would likely end up interesting. Though this was a quieter entrance, without the dragon making a nice loud sound to distract attention to it. Actually from what Ymir could see, he was half asleep, well no bother. It seemed Citrine might play.

The mixed breed might have gone over then if Keanu hadn't patted him on the head then, glancing down, and smiling to both of the girl's who had entered before turning back to the teacher. Obviously, she wasn't going to be easy to please like Mr. Solon. More like the battle teacher. Stern, and well... Not his friend. That's what she'd said, and that seemed to match this.

Ligeia took full advantage of that and hurried over to sit down in one of the seats closest to the front of the classroom. He made a motion with his hand to Vorel who moved over to it and he stroked the dragon's back before he dug out the treats for him, giving him one knowing the frozen treat would keep in occupied for a short while and out of the way. Best to keep him behaving as he didn't want Vorel to get in trouble with the teacher.

He took off his hat, remember that his father said you weren't supposed to wear them in class so he tucked it away and drew out his notebook and pencil from his bag and waited for class to start, "What do you think?" He whispered quietly to the dracling.

He looked up at the owl child, wagged his tail a bit as if to assure him that it would be fine, then went back to munching on his frozen food.

Oh, they were introducing themselves? More for comfort than to keep her from running off, Indigo grabbed at one of Citrine's horns, holding the copper wyrmling back from running off to bother Vorel and Ymir. "Uhm," Indigo said aloud, stalling for time as she tried to figure out where everyone was sitting. Ms. Millner had only said Ligeia was allowed to sit down, but maybe she wouldn't mind if Indigo snuck over to the nearest bench and seated herself. As she didn't let go of Citrine quite yet, the wyrmling was compelled to follow, muttering and houghing the whole way.

Indigo let go at last to swing her backpack up onto the desk with a clunk that sounded entirely too loud to her ears. She cringed, ducking behind the bag and stealing a glance toward Citrine. The copper wyrmling wasn't looking at her partner--she was staring off in Ymir's direction, the very tip of her tail tapping against the edge of the desk. Indigo sighed and looked away, busying herself with her backpack's zipper to conceal her nervousness. It turned out to be stuck, and she fussed with it a moment longer--missing Keanu's introduction entirely--until it proved she might have to rip the bag open to fix the zipper at which point she abandoned it, burying her face in two of her hands.

Citrine's attention had by this time wandered back to her partner, and she butted her head against Indigo's ankle impatiently. "Rrhrff," she remarked, and when Indigo didn't immediately move, she nudged the velvet worm again. "Rrff." The impatient magic-smelling humanperson at the front of the class had wanted their names and Citrine didn't speak human very well. C'mon, speak up!

"Citriiine," Indigo hissed through her hands. "Cut that out!" Her dragon frowned, sitting down on her haunches with an annoyed "whrr", tail lashing. That tail was a dangerous thing the wyrmling hadn't quite gotten a handle on yet; she didn't realize she was seriously imperiling a nearby empty chair until she'd sent it skittering across the floor and crashing into a wall. Indigo nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden noise, looking over at the chair with wide eyes, then down at her dragon--then up at Ms. Millner, the color leeching out of her face.

They were going to get it now. With a moan, Indigo buried her face in her backpack and folded her arms over her head. Citrine blinked at this display, before shrugging in a rustle of wings and pattering--click-clack, click-clack--over to retrieve the chair and set it, somewhat clumsily, back where it had been. "Whrrfff," she told it. Bad chair! Running off like that.

Raven checked the next child off the list, surpressing a remark. At least some semblance of order was settling over the class. Of course, that one girl had to be different and sit without giving her name. She would have to scold her before class began.

"And you?" she inquired, sizing up the other girl. A cheetah by the looks of things. At least she was staying fairly quiet. For that, Raven was willing to ignore the brightness, at least temporarily. All in all the class was proceeding as planned.

That was, until someone's dragon tossed a chair across the room. Raven didn't even see at first, her back turned to the bulk of the classroom. However the loud clatter the chair created when it met the wall was impossible not to notice. Whirling around, she scanned the room, and immediately spotted the culprit. A certain tawny-toned dragon was carrying the chair. And that dragon belonged to...

"MISS PRESTON!"

Really, what should she expect from someone raised by such a woman? Not much, not much at all. But was having an uneventful class too much to hope for? It seemed that THAT woman always found ways to upset her plans. Any child raised by her would be just as bad, and the same went for a dragon in care of that child.

After her initial shout, Raven's tone became level, and loaded. "Miss Preston. I understand that some people have a more difficult time than others with self control. However I expect all of my students to be at the very least civil. Throwing potentially damaging school property and causing a scene certainly does not qualify as civil. You are old enough to know better, are you not? Or should I send the both of you back for remedial lessons in conduct?"

As Ms. Millner berated her, Indigo shrunk into a progressively tighter curl until it seemed almost as if she'd disappear entirely, turned into a little ball of gold-spotted purple hide with tufts of blue hair here and there. She covered her face with all of her hands, antennae pulled back as far as they could go and eyes tight-shut, face screwed up with the effort of not bursting into tears. Citrine, meanwhile, finished righting the chair and turned to find her partner busily attempting to disappear out of embarassment. The wyrmling blinked once, before making her way, carefully as she could, back over to where Indigo was sitting and settling herself on her haunches.

She wasn't getting all of what the humanperson at the front of the class was going on about, but it didn't sound right. Citrine gave a flick of her wings, curling her tail neatly around her forepaws, before letting out a wuffle of breath. By now Indigo had begun uncurling once more, as Ms. Millner suggested they might need to go into remedial classes. Sure--she was upset about all the noise they'd made, but that wasn't, it just wasn't--

"That's not FAIR!" the velvet worm blurted out, sliding off of her stool to stand upright. Two hands were drawn up to her chest in nervousness, but the other two were clenched in decisive fists at her sides. "It isn't! I wasn't throwing anything, CITRINE knocked it into the wall--an', an'--"

Hearing her name, the dragon looked up, giving a snort of mild surprise, her tailtip twitching. "Whrr," she added, somewhat concerned about the state of her partner's mind.

"--An' it wasn't even her fault! She's just a baby, she knocks things over sometimes!" Indigo spit out. "An'--she put it back, too! See!" She pointed with her right upper at the chair, right back where it belonged. Comically, Citrine followed this motion with her head, before looking back at Ms. Millner. "Hwrr. Hrrh--whr," she got out, bobbing her head firmly as she'd seen the two-legged sorts do. Yeah, she'd put the chair back. Her bad.

Indigo dropped her hand to her side, sniffing once, and adding in a small and petulant voice, "Besides, it's just a dumb chair. It's not like anybody got hurt." Only then, momentary rage expended, did she burst into tears, crumpling to sit on the floor with all her hands over her face. Concerned, Citrine edged closer and folded a wing around her partner, before looking up at Raven and snorting once more.

After having his name checked Keanu had begun to move over to sit down, in the front as well. He was quite willing to learn anything the teacher had to well... Teach them. Sadly, he never got there. A rather loud, Crash, and thunk got his attention, and the dragons as well. Both of the boy's quickly jerked their heads to see the chair clattering to the floor. A loot of dismay crossed the boy's face at how that had happened.

Then turning to the source it made sense. Ah yes, the girl who knocked down the door. Yes, well accidents where accidents. As long as nothing broke and no one was hurt it was all good in Keanu's book. Besides it seemed Citrine was putting it back in place.

Then again, the teacher definitely didn't share Keanu's sentiments on the subject, and burst out, which got the boy glancing back, forth at the pair int he quick exchange. Now, Keanu might not have been bright, and he respected the teacher enough not to say anything regarding her opinion, certainly she had a right to be annoyed. Still, there was no cause to make someone cry, class hadn't even started!

This wasn't how he had anticipated for class to go. Not at all.

Ymir was the first of the two to unfreeze, and he trotted over, soon followed by Keanu. Yes, Keanu may respect the teacher, but he also disliked seeing anyone upset. He wouldn't question how she acted, not out loud anyway, but he could try to help Indigo with a few kind words. That much he could do.

"Chrruh." Ymir lightly nudged the girls arm, giving her as sweet a smile as something with rather sharp teeth could. He wagged his tail in a less deadly manner than Citrine, only lightly batting the desks with it.

"Indigo, are you going to be alright?" The leopard didn't like seeing anyone upset, certainly not another student who he considered a friend? Or close as anyone was at the moment. The only person who could have a heart attack over the boy without him worrying was his mum, and she wasn't here. He reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder which wasn't covered by the brown hued wing of the dragon.

Maybe it wouldn't do any good, and perhaps it'd get him in trouble. But Keanu really wasn't one to be able to ignore an upset person. Certainly she was in distress?

So the girl was trying to talk her way out of it. No less than she expected. Crossing the floor until she was at the center of the classroom, Raven stepped onto the raised platform at the front. Her eyes never left Indigo, not even when she indicated her dragon or when Keanu came to comfort her. Only when the child had finished, and her friend had begun comforting her, did Raven speak.

"Life is not fair, class. My job is to prepare you life, specifically in magickal areas, however if a general one is adressed I will not hesitate. I understand you are new and unused to handling yourselves as mature individuals, but I will treat you such, or not at all. I am not your friend or your babysitter. I am a teacher.

"Miss Preston, your outburst was uncalled for. First, do not blame your dragon for a fault. You are considered partners, and any punishment dealt will be dealt to both of you. This would apply if you had erred as well. Fixing the mistake was a start, I will give you that. However your point that no one was injured is invalid. Someone may well have been hurt due to your collective carelessness. Do not let it happen again."

Raven then let her gaze wander to the other students. "This applies to all of you. Know that I hate to repeat myself. And Miss Preston, please see me after class so that I may inform you what your detention will be." She was tempted to give a detention to Keanu as well, but he hadn't actually questioned her. He was, however, on thin ice.

Then as if nothing had happened she turned to Sahra. "Name, please."
