Are there any David and Leigh fans here? They wrote the Belgariad/Mallorean, the Elenium, the Tamuli, and the Dreamers series'. Not to mention a few spin-offs and stand-alones.

I read the first of the Dreamers series. I found they the book lacked focus, always bouncing around from one character to another. By then end of it I was glad it was over.

My favorites were the Belgariad, though sometimes it felt like it all could have been one really big book! I did love them though.

The only book that ever caught my interest by them was "Regina's Song".

I thought the same thing about the Dreamers. It's definately not their best, in fact, out of what I've read, it's their worst. It sucks those were your first impression. If you ever decide to give them a second chance, the Belgariad's a great series to start on.

I loved the Belgariad series, Rivan codex, and Polgara the sorceress. I'm currently on the Malloreon.

I've read all except Regina's Song, High Hunt, and The Losers. My family is in that group he mentioned in the Maloreon Part One preface who have been reading around the circle for the last 20 years.

I have both the Belgariad and the Mallorean series. I also have the other 3 books, Belgarath, Polgara and the Riven Codex. I also have the Redemption of Althalus which was a good book. I did read the first book of the Dreamers series but it really didn't get my interest. I'll probably go back and reread that at some point.

I'm a devoted fan of David and Leigh after I picked up Pawn of Propechy a long time ago....
However, whilst I still love Belgariad and Mallorean, I actually preffered the adventures of Sparhawk in the Elenium and Tamuli. As those of you who have read all 4 of the series, you would have no doubt recognised similarities between various characters and I feel, personally, that those character images have been better put together and thought out in the Sparhawk books.

I do agree with what has been said with The Dreamers series though. I picked up the first one, read it, then never bought the others. The Eddings had completely lost their touch when they wrote this series and it never has held the sparkle that all the others hold.

David Eddings is my inspiration for writing. I found the Belgariad in a box of books from my grandmother's house and read them over and over for an entire summer... nearly four times. At the time, I only owned two cassette tapes which I played over and over again while I read. To this day, if I hear a song from one of those tapes I can still picture scenes from the books.
When I finally got the entire Mallorean, I also read it through more than a couple times. I also have Polgara: the Sorceress; Belgarath: the Sorcerer and The Rivan Codex. I read the Elenium a while ago, but it didn't grab me like the Belgariad series. I eventually plan to get the omnibus of the Elenium, as well as that of the Tamuli, so I can reread them with a fresher perspective. I have "Redemption of Althaus" but I haven't read it yet. I also have the first three Dreamer's books (which I haven't read yet because I'm waiting until I have the complete series).
Sometimes I'll go into the Belgariad or Mallorean and look for specific parts that I love and could read over and over. My favorite is the scene where Silk finally gets caught... redface Sometimes I would wish I lived in that world. *sigh*. Eddings made it so real for me. I hope one day he can continue the Belgariad series with more stories and colorful characters.
