I think I'm going to starve to death!

Not really but its hard to keep Kosher when no one around you does. Even your Jewish boyfriend who takes your brand new bowl and makes chicken-cheese soup in it!

This is even harder durring Pesach because all though they do severve Matza that is Kosher for Passover, thats about all thats Kosher. crying Everything else they surve is either meat that is questionable in quality of, or chametz.

I don't know where you go to school, but most universities offer a kosher meal plan. How good the food will be, I don't know, but most of them have some sort of option. It's also a matter of how careful you're going to be about things- are you even limiting yourself by the pans and pots the food is cooked in?

I try to do most of my cooking on my own. So that I can have differant sets of cookwere(sp?) and dishwere(sp?) but my boyfriend keeps "borrowing" my dishes and useing them for the wrong thing or, like I said before, puting both meat and dairy in them at the same time. (I go through a lot of dishwere cuz of this) sweatdrop

I go to a very small college in a mostly non Jewish community so there is nothing like that.

There is a bus trip to a synagogue every saturday but mostly even the Jews on campus are not very observent.

you should try using disposible dishware and utensils.

hell, that's what i do.

I second the suggestion of disposable utensils.. And tell your boyfriend, calmly but firmly, that keeping kosher is important to you and he needs to STOP using your dishes and cookware for non-kosher mixtures of food. If he's an adult of at least average intelligence, he should be able to understand that.

Your college has no Chabad or Hillel? I've never been a college that didn't have at least _one_ of those... Chabad is everywhere. ^^;

The irony of a Jewish bus trip to synagogue on Shabbos... Heh. sweatdrop

i find it strangely ironic that you're more observant than your boyfriend is, yet you're the one who's converting.

i'm very happy you are keeping kosher and very very proud ^.^

i'm sorry the world has to make it so hard for you i'd give you a bunch of kosher cookies if i could

i hope things really work out for you,
yea perhaps you could talk to the food cooker people and find out exactly what the status is on the food and how unkosher it is?

haha yeah but I'm not converting for him I'm doing it for myself. Its importaint to me. I just wish it was impotaint to him. Like today he ate breaded chicken and sour cream. Its like he doesn't care. Then he nags me for not understainding his religion.

I don't find it ironic actually... People who willingly convert are serious about judaism. All of those who are born jewish don't nescesarily have the same digree of seriousness 3nodding . That's usually because they didn't make the choice, whereas converts, on the other hand, accept the difficulties, learn, and become jewish out of their own will. Good for you, Ginko_Hime! blaugh

I hope that made sense sweatdrop .
