I'd have to say my favorite characters through out the series would be Tao and Alef from Shining Force and Mao from Shining Tears. Judging by the few screenshots I'll probably end up adding Seena from Shining Wind to that list since it would seem she plays similar to Mao.

As for favorite stratagies, in Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon Mawlock and Hanzou in the battle against Dark Dragon's always fun. Basicly Hanzo ends up with three turns to a round, strikes at 3-4 squares away for anywhere between 60 and 120 damage. Though I've only ever resorted to this after 5+ playthroughs. Other than that I just tend to do whatever in hopes that it'll work in the games.

While some people say the worlds between older Shining Games were related, I'd have to say no. Mainly because characters by the same name, and occasionally appearance, constantly spring up through out the games, even if they've already died. Such as Darksol dieing both in Shining in the Darkness and Shining Force and also, from what I've read, still manages to show up in a couple other games.

However there is likely a connection between Shining Soul 2 and Shining Tears since the area Shining Soul 2 takes place in is mentioned. Whether or not Shining Wind will keep with this or move on to yet another world I couldn't say but I kind of hope it keeps with this new trend. It's kind of nice to be able to focus on one region of the world per game.

I only played Shining Force 2... I remember liking Sarah, Kazan, May and that umm... Thing that attacked with it's helmet. It's been so long since I've played. sweatdrop

Sorry Rolf but there is a connection to the Shining Force games.(Well between one and two) This connection is revealed in Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict.

The story begins with Max, the leader of the Shining Force from the first Shining Force game, chasing the witch Mishaela (servant of the presumably dead villain Darksol, from the same game). One of Max's companions, the robot Adam, is injured during the chase; Max's party then stops to help the robot, and only Max and his companion Ridion continue the chase.

Unfortunately, Max and Ridion never came back from the chase. To find him, Adam gathers a new Shining Force, naming as leader a boy named Ian. Ian and his companions start their journey, and the unexpected awaits them...

Another connection is Oddeye as a playable character.
Odd Eye: A blind warrior in the service of a devil named Zeon (from Shining Force II). Zeon was a great enemy of Darksol, so Odd Eye joins the Shining Force for a while to help them to defeat Mishaela. He wields a sword and possesses an attack called Odd Eye Beam, shooting rays by opening his blind eyes.

In Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict it also reveals the rivalry between Zeon and Darksol.

Many years later, his loyal minion, Mishaela, eventually managed to revive him, though sacrificing her life in the process. Darksol revives in the form of a huge monster emerging from the ground, with only his armor resembling his old form.

He faces the Shining Force again, now led by Kane's son, Ian, and aided by Max and one of Zeon's minions, Odd Eye. The evil Ancient was not completely revived, because the presence of the Devil King Zeon, who was sealed in the same place, hindered the revival process. Not at his full power, Darksol was defeated by the Shining Force and destroyed by Ian.

It is also stated that before Darksol(As Dark Dragon) was sealed he foughtgreat battle against Zeon(Thus the rivalry) and Zeon was sent to another dimension.

You got to love Shining Force Central.

The talking thing is annoying, but I can tolerate it. Especially when it's that or the talking done in Shining Force Neo.
Fortunatly the two best allies in the game, from what I've seen, are silent, in battle.
