Just like the trilogy ("The Golden Compass," "The Subtle Knife," and "The Amber Spyglass") by Phillup Pullman. This RP will take place after the story, so the Subtle Knife has been destroyed. Only angels know the ways between the worlds and only shamans can go there, and even then only in spirit, never in body. It will take place in a world set in modern times, however there will be Demons. In this sotry, a Demon is a companion that each person has and is the embodyment of their soul. As a child, your Demon can change shape freely, but as you grow older, your Demon stops changing. Once you have gone through puberty and are grown up your Demon "settles," a term used to describe the time when your Demon has a final form it will never change out of. For the sake of this RP, we will say that "settling" can happen any time between the ages of twelve and seventeen. Of course, that means if your Demon settles at seventeen that will be the time when you become "mature" at heart, if it has already happened bodilly. Your Demon takes the shape of a type of animal, NEVER ANYTHING HUMANOID, but can be a mythological creature such as a dragon or a unicorn. Remember, although your character should not act like an animal per se, the animal should represent your character's self (rather than saying "character"). For example, someone with a butterfly Demon might be very fragile or someone who loves beauty, or perhaps someone who does not speak very much and is shy. Characters have all the restrictions of their Demons. That means if the Demon is water-bound (like a fish or dolphin), then so will the person. Demons and their humans cannot go further than about ten feet from each other without extreme pain (remember, your Demon is your soul). Everyone is born with the knowledge that touching someone else's Demon is a boundary not to be crossed. The bond between human and Demon is sacred and to touch someone else's Demon is wrong. Typically, a Demon is the opposite sex from the character, but those who have interest in their own sex have demons the same gender as themselves. The boy has light silver-white hair and amythyst eyes. His demon is a white tiger.
Personality: He has a bitter, cold and angry outside but is very vulnerable at the core. He doesn't like things he can't understand. He tries to push others away even when they mean a lot to him. He has a bad temper and is very strong-willed and stubborn.

Ritsuka smiled hapilly as he walked through the park carrying his favorite plush-toy, a little blue fox. He humed a little made-up song as he walked along. "It's a beautiful day out isn't it, Kinnuichii?" He spoke in a fake little cute voice to the little toy in his arms. He stopped at a bench with a large rose bush full of red blossoms behind it and smiled. "Look what I found!" He exclaimed happily and went to pick one, but caught his thumb on a thorn, a little blood welling up and a few tears came to his eyes. He left the rose intact. "Ow..." he sniffed.

As it happened, Hiro was nearby, wearing a pair of thick gardener's gloves and pruning the bushes. It was for some required community service hours, looking after the park. He looked over at the boy with long black hair and stood up straight slowly before walking over to him. He wiped some sweat off his forehead, at the same time moving his overly long bangs out of his eyes so he could see the other quickly. "Are you okay?" he asked, his Daemon, a large white tiger, padded along beside him.

Ritsuka and his kistune demon looked up at him at the exact same time with big innocent eyes. "Oh, yeah, i'm alright." He smiled cheerfully. "Thank you for asking though." He held Kinnuichii tight, both arms wrapped around it lovingly. It seemed to be old, faded and a little frayed, but not dirty at least.

He shrugged. "Figure it's my duty. I'm s'posed to look after these roses, but they're not exactly harmless as you've learned." He grinned slightly and motioned to his gloves. "That's why I wear these."

Ritsuka nodded. "It's strange I didn't notice the thorns..." He looked thoughtful. "Every rose has it's thorns, right?" He jumped up and held out his hand. "I'm Ritsuka!!"
(he's talking about people, and also as he's usually the sneaky fox, he tries his best to notice the hidden thorns.)

"I suppose you could say that," he said with a smile, extending his own hand to shake the other's. "My name's... Matt," he said somewhat hesitantly. He had only rescently started giving out a fake name, but had always hated the jibes at his name being "hero-like."

Ritsuka nodded and then held out Kinnuichii with both hands. "And this is Kinnuichii!!" He smiled brightly. "Why are you cutting the roses...?" He asked in complete innocence and held Kinnuichii tight.

"I'm pruning them... so that they grow in the supposed correct direction... so that they appear neat... Also, if you see these..." he indicated the rose hips "If you cut them, then the flower blooms longer. I don't really work for the park... it's just part of my required community service." He looked down at his Daemon and added, "And he's Shiroi."

Ritsuka bent down and smiled at him. "Oh, hello there." He turned to his demon. "Of course, this is Kei." He gestured fondly to his demon. "I'm sorry, I didn't introduce you." He sat on the ground and wrapped his arms around the demon's neck and looked up at Matt. "So... Matt is a strange name... Where are you from?"

((Actually, the books are set in England, ut the sake for an RP it is set in some place where everything is... okay. And it would have to be English-speaking because Hiro would not be an odd name in Japan.))
He shrugged. "I'm from here... generally speaking... My parents travel a lot, though... I s'pose they picked it up somewhere. But I don;t think it's an odd name... It's kinda ordinary, if you ask me." Which was the exact reason he'd chosen it.

((If they're in Japan, Matt would be an odd name, but we'll say he thinks it's an odd name cause Ritsuka is from Japan. ^^;; So England then?))
Ritsuka nodded, "Oh ok." He smiled and stared up at Matt silently with a wondering look, which after awhile is kinda creepy. ^^;;
