I really liked GITS:SAC, so I bought the first manga. I realize that the style of SAC and the style of the manga and movie are totally different. I liked the philosophy and politics of SAC, but I found that the things I liked most about SAC were absent in the manga.
I realize that I don't like Masamune Shirow's philosophy and politics, and the cool stuff about SAC should be credited to the writers of the series. How do I find out more about who were the masterminds behind SAC?

try getting the gits:sac database. its good, its a book and 90min dvd(well the first one is anyway, no idea about the 2nd...) all about the series. ive got database one, which details eps 1 through 19. its got interviews w/ masamune and the staff of SAC, character stuff, a little art stuff and episode details.
the thing with SAC is that after the fist movie, when they asked him to do a tv series, he said it had to be different from the manga and movie, and is supposed to be before the puppet master meets kusanagi, but is set in 2030...(kusanagi and the puppet master merge in 2029... so how can it be before...??)
but yes, the whole point of SAC was to make a detective like show, based on some episodes of the serial manga that were never released which detailed section 9 in their daily lives and daily job, or so the database doth sayeth...

Ghost in the Shell SAC is not a comic book novel, its a reading novel. i have the first one. its ok but i might wait to see what comes out form Shirow on the 3rd Ghost book.

yeah i know, the comics have already come out via darkhorse but i cnat find it so i have to wait for the book itself
