I thought if anyone had any tips/techniques for colouring that they find work well and that they'd care to share, feel free to do so here~
oh, and if anyone is inspired to have a go/adapt the suggestions to their own drawings then put them up and show us what you've done smile

Im on a mac and only have that program and photoshop to use, though i also dabble in oekaki and paintchat : )
I used to mostly use hard/soft cell shading or smudging to colour,
but i got bored of that after a while and began to explore the tools in corel painter 8 <3

In Corel Painter 8 im currently addicted to (and really over-using >:] ) the salt tool, which sprinkles white fade dots about <33 Prettyyy~
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Takase_ki/avaloncolourclean.jpg
theres an example of use of the salt tool. In use with other techniques, it can look really effective ( :
...theres a better example:
User Image
btw, that pic was all originally orange/gold. Fiddling with the brightness and contrast can sometimes really effectively change the whole tone of the pic

Aaaand, many people colour very traditional and neat. Sometimes i just sploosh colour on the page and i think it looks ok being messy : ) Those two images above are done just messy n_n;
See look~ heres the first image without its lineart surprised http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Takase_ki/avaloncolourglass.jpg messymessymessy
Experiment and try new things~ thats how you develop your own style, and progress. <_< in my opinion, anyway..

On a side note,
Heres a link to a paintchat i visit sometimes, in case you're interested :3
http://tohopchat.homeftp.org:5873/entrance_pro.html
I find it works better in some browsers than others.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for my art. That's about all I can say for now.

I use Adobe Elements if anything. I also have Painter Classic, but have no idea how to fully utilize the program. eek Meep. So yea, I tend to stick with traditional stuff. I'd like to get better with the painter thing, though.

Oh, and I still lust after Open Canvas with my heart and soul.

I use Paint Shop Pro(pretty much because I could get it for free) but I do want Photoshop ):
