I got a rejection letter from Dark Horse comics today. They "decided to pass" on a proposal I gave to them at comic-con last year as part of their "New Recuits" program.
Call me crazy but this letter is so damn cool I want to frame it and hang it on my wall. I've been rejected by an established company! I'm almost a professional now! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I know the feeling. I just know the guys from Udon won't accept me working with them if and when they get the rights to do a KOF comic. crying Wanna sit in the corner and be rejected together?

Ever-Infamous Kojiro-san Wanna sit in the corner and be rejected together? I think you may have misunderstood, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm genuinely happy about this. It's my first rejection letter, it's like a rite of passage.

o.O Well...okay. Your call. I wouldn't see it as something to celebrate but...ah well. Go off and hold a rejection party or something then. And take a picture of the letter or scan it in or something so the rest of AYGGS (myself excluded) can bask in your rejectedness.

None of you get it...
This is NOT the end of the world, for crying out loud. And I'M the one who got the letter so I fail to see why everyone else is being so awkwardly emo about it.
I'm going to get TONS of rejection letters in my life. Everyone gets rejection letters, these things just happen. This one however, is the first, and therefore is special. It's a momento of my first attempt at submitting to publishers. Who the ******** cares if I got rejected? I'm going to be at con again this year with a brand new submission, and I'll be armed with a whole new years worth of knowledge.
And I'll probably get rejected again. BUT THAT'S LIFE.
Sooner or later I'll submit something that gets accepted, but if I get all "oh god no, my dreams have been shattered" ever time I don't, well s**t I'm not going to get pretty far am I?
Sheesh, you guys need to learn how to look at things positively. I for one found a lot of humor and excitement in this, and I'm sorry you guys can't see that.

I like your attitude.
You have a very healthy view on this situation. In fact, when you do get your first job, you'll be able to look at that rejection letter and laugh even louder at the person who passed on your skill set.
Good luck!

I like the guys at Dark Horse. They're good people. I'll be giving my new project to them at con this year again.

Letters of rejection are certainly something to be proud of. It shows that your work was good enough that it got their attention. Most of the time you don't hear anything at all from publishers.

Actually I cheated a bit on that one. I took part in Dark Horse's "New Recruit" contest. If you had a specific form included with your proposal you were garunteed that the editor would read your submission.
Now, Radio Comix, they never got back to me. But they're pretty much killing their book format comics line anyways so...

Certainly a rejection letter is better than one of those mechanised response letters going something like "WE RLY LIEKD UR ENTRY BUT WE DON'T NEED U LOL". Without the netspeak at any rate.
Still, do show us a scan or photo of it so we can at least see it and be proud of you. Oh, and good luck for your future projects - MAY A WINNAR BE YOU.

You're one step close rto achieving your dreams, which is something quite enviable. Hence, the sad face: I am happy for you, sad for me.

Actually I am happy you have gotten the first rejection letter. All I was worried about was that my congradts would come off snarky. Plus it felt somewhat akward like with the whole "Happy Helmet" episode of Ren and Stimpy.
