Hey does anyone know why American Idiot has an advisory? What songs in paticular triggered that? I mean, I have Nimrod and Dookie and they say the F-word in sooo many songs. I'm trying to get my parents to let me get American Idiot, and my dad says it's because of "******** America" and so I don't really want to tell him what's on Nimrod and Dookie and all the others. So why exactly is American Idiot the one with the warning? Why don't the others have them? I'd appreciate all the information I can get. Thanks for your help.

I am desperate for this cd because I love Holiday and Jesus of Suburbia, and cause I need it to complete my collection. I've printed out the lyrics for them and all they said is "well they say the f word here" and I'm like "Haven't you heard Nimrod?!! they scream it all the time!!!!" so even though they think it's an okay cd, they're instincts tell them they must follow whatever the people who make advisories decided. I'm screwed, aren't I? Please help if you can!!!

And as for Nimrod, I would think Platypus alone would warrant a parental advisory sticker sweatdrop I'm really not sure why American Idiot has the warning and the others don't. 'Tis very strange.

Could be wrong but I think Dookie was released before the parental advisory stuff. I dont remember exactly what year that whole thing started. I know it was around the early 90's. AI probally has it because of its content. I mean surely there isnt a whole lot of cursing but the topic is iffy. I mean curse words aren't the only thing that the parental advisory sticker goes on. It's more for content. edit: I was wrong, seems talk of it started in 1985. http://www.riaa.com/issues/parents/advisory.asp that page has some info on why albums get the sticker.

I've been seeing R movies since I was eight, and we even own some. So, you know, I may just bring that question to them. Thank you.

Probably becuase they say "********" and f*****t" in one song. And he talks about suicide ("He blew his brains out into the bay") I'm not sure, lets read through the lyrics... Talks about alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana... and cocaine. s**t Maybe the "Zeig Hail" part? Kinda violent sounding... Dope... Shooting people down... Give me novocaine kinda like a drug reference? Bastards and the ******** word a lot in letterbomb. Homecoming says ********... and talks about drinking. Ok that's enough of that.
