Greedy Werewolf

It had occured to Mingan that eating was a good thing. It had even occured to him that he may be able to catch his own food. (How delightful!) But unfortunately, it had not occured to the dusky pelted wolf that something three times his size with angry sharp antlers would not be the best of choices for a lonely wolf such as he. It was clear he had not thought this out, what was he going to do, walk up to the elk and ask him to fall over dead so Mingan wouldn't starve? Mingan was just that type of animal.

Soon his screams could be heard far and wide. Apparently the elk had plans other than what Mingan wanted, the elk didn't even speak wolf. He didn't eat them either, but seeing one so jauntily step up to him and invade his personal space did not make the big animal happy. Snorting and rearing up, he worked to bring his hooves down on the small wolf, planning also to gore him with his horns.

Mingan was in hell. Mingan was in TROUBLE. His brain raced with these facts and he did his best to dash between the elk's legs, feeling flesh on his back split as the larger creature barely hit his mark. A blur of greyblack skittered back, tail tucked and ears pinned flat against his skull.

Oh god.. ohgodohgodohgod "PLEASE! SOMEBODY HELP MINGAN!" the wolf cried out, his voice quivering, tears running down his face.

Helaku had just finished clearing his fur of the muck it'd built up from a recent hunt in the stream. His fur was not that to be messed with, and mother nature would surely regret her gift barings to the male, eventually. A large tongue swept over and into the crevaces of his paws, paying attention to the intricate detail of the patterns going up his ankle. It seemed peculiar that noone other than himself appeared to be looming about the area. After all, wasn't there a new dunderhead with each new turn? Then again, upon second thought, perhaps it's all the same much better that he didn't run into any imbesils. Their feeble minds could damage his good mood! A snicker came alongside the thought, along with a look of disgust towards any wolves that would ever cross his path and be such.

A strange sound began to travel from the distance, though quickly distinguishing itself as more of a noise to the gamma than anything. "Please! Somebody help Mingan!" Eugh! What an annoying audio! How the hell had he gotten through these parts of the woods? Helaku huffed inwardly as he then gathered the sound of padding hooves. "What's this? A chase?" For a moment he chuckled, but it quickly soon faded. Most times he might be understood for sarcastic and easily annoyed, the latter of which more true than the first. But in actuality, he had his soft spots. Such as one would be that nomatter what, he just didn't believe a wolf deserved to die. At least not through homocide or manslaughter. Old age was something that couldn't be helped. This issue, although the wolf was clearly a nuisance to him, was no different in his values, and for that reason and that reason only, the gamma sped off. "Hang on, I'm coming!" he roared, bursting through the trees and onto the scene, coming up closely behind the elk and getting ready to pounce if necessary.

Mingan thought about screaming again, he also thought about laying himself down to the elk. Fortunately or not, he did neither and soon he could hear another wolf. Another wolf would save him! Mingan was happy, though his back half hurt very badly and his heart was racing painfully in his chest. "Mingan will.. uh.. hang on!" he yelled back, a bit more meekly than his first plee. Tail still tucked, tears still stinging his vibrant green eyes he swung around a nearby tree. He at least could be intelligant when his life, or the life of another, was on the line. The tree proved helpful and slowed the elk a bit, but not by much.

Whimpering, the grey-pelt slipped from behind the tree and zipped between the elk's legs, narrowly missing the other wolf. Skidding to a halt a few feet behind the new wolf, he covered his head with his paws and waited, not fully realizing that the other wolf may need his help. There wouldn't have been much he could do anyway, he was weak from hunger and now injured too. He whined and dared to look back up at the two other animals, just in case the new wolf needed help.

Heavy pawpads stomped the ground with force ending each new stride. The elk was much larger than Helaku, and much more powerful if angered. He wasn't stupid, and would do nothing to upset him too much if he could help it. He knew that elk didn't make wolves their top priority meal of the day, so maybe that, along with his odd coloration, would prove useful in this scenario. Loud barks and snarls sounded as he grew in closer and closer to the rather ugly rear of the elk. However the view was shortlived, thankfully or not to be left to the individual as the elk abruptly stopped, then turned, baring a rather putrid disposition down onto him. What are you looking at! That's what he would've said; if he had've been a complete fool. It was luckily enough that he stopped whenever he did, landing just inches away from the husky mammal. "You need a breathmint like whoa." His sarcastic comment might've been pushing it, but this disgusting beast's BREATH was pushing it as well. So much that he had to fight from puking. Helaku hated nasty smells just as much as he despised imbesils. Proper hygene wasn't too much to ask for, was it?

This time it seemed his comment had been enough to enrage the giant, and before he knew it, the elk was grinding his teeth and heaving heavy amounts of his breath's smoke from his nostrils. A rather unpleasant sight it was. Helaku would waste no time dabbling with this engagement; he turned and trampled off at once. "Hey you! Look out!" he exclaimed to the puny other wolf. No luck in such a mind working long enough to comprehend that though. If you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself. He shoved himself over to the side, trampling through a narrow path he'd luckily spotted along the way. "Ah!" There was a limb up ahead. Elks might've been big and strong, but when it came to brains, well, they certainly weren't the brightest of the bunch. At least, not in his eyes anyway. If his suspicions were correct, there would be no problem in fooling the creature into knocking himself out. "Perfect!" With another quick minute's time he stormed under the bulky branch and without looking back, could no more than a second later here a loud thud against the tree, followed by another when the elk had hit the ground. Coming to a halt, Helaku panted slightly and took a second to catch his breath. "Hah. Piece of cake." He was proud of the accomplishment, and his ego had only grown more throughout the process.

Knowing well that the elk would be clear out cold for a while, but not entirely dead, he figured he might as well at least get the helpless wolf to safety. Provided he didn't go crazy of listening to his voice, first. Overexaggerating a single few smidges of voice audio? Perhaps to many. But not to him. - Finally he came up to where the shivering creature had sat still. "Come on. Let's go. That idiot of a mammal won't be out for long." No time for small talk; cut right to the chase. That was his attitude about the circumstance. Not that he really wanted to speak to the pathetic one anyways.

He watched the other wolf, peering through his paws at the site of things. He was becoming more and more uncomfortable, his body twitched and shook as he remained in his odd position longer and longer, his tail aching to be free from under him. He would never do this again! Mingan would just stick to rabbits and mice from now on, he didn't need this much food. It was just like him to have a great realization of things after he had already caused himself great pain. Any other wolf would never find himself in this situation.. but Mingan did not trouble himself with the thought that other wolves were smarter than he. He did however trouble and worry over the fact that this oddly colored wolf may be as seriously hurt as he was, and all over his daft nature. It turned his stomach, took his hunger away. He felt bad now, and didn't even laugh at the silly comment about the elk's breath.

Hearing the other wolf tell him to look out, Mingan raised his head and looked around. Sometimes he took things way too literally for his own good. He didn't move his body, just his head, wildly searching for.. whatever. Finally his eyes came to rest again on the oddly pelted wolf and the elk, just in time to see the wolf trick the elk into knocking himself out. Hooray! Mingan was suddenly happy again, knowing that the new wolf was not hurt, and wouldn't be if Mingan listened to him and left the scene quickly.

"Go? Are you sure.. I mean.." he stuttered softly now, voice coming much differently than it did earlier when he had yelled. He was still crying, and couldn't manage to stop. The wavering in his voice gave him away. He worried for a minute if maybe the new would would try to hurt him or eat him, now that he was injured and easy prey. A million reasons floated through his brain, explaining why the other wolf would save him from the elk, but finally he decided it was ok to follow. "You won't hurt me.. I hope." he spoke, half to himself as he followed his savior, quietly for the moment.

Minutes later he spoke again. "Oh! Where are my manners.. I am Mingan! Thank you very much for helping me, I would have died... Mingan is not too smart.." he trailed off, hoping the other wolf would break silence. He felt awkward in social situations, like he should never speak unless spoken to first, but he had to do something, the pain in his rear had localized to one hip, and he drew his right leg up under him and hobbled along silently.

Good LORD was this wolf truly pathetic. Moreso than even he'd began to imagine. Weeping and blubbering over someone trying to help him? Perhaps some wolves such as him didn't even deserve to inhabit the earth.... and yet no. Helaku was aggrivated that his conscience was forcing him through this task, but all was well in that at least a life was saved. There was little hope in any bright future for this weakling, but hey, he'd done his good deed. Karma would return the favor surely, and mother nature would equally stop drenching his fur with horrid substances. Which reminded him, his fur must've gotten damned mangled and matted with dirt again after such a chase. Goddamnit. He'd JUST finished taking care of the LAST sequence of that, and now he'd have another hour's worth of time to go through ridding it again later. He sighed in irritation and continued to lead the way out. This nuisance following behind him just wouldn't shut up though, and it was getting on his LAST nerve.

"Look!" He turned and suddenly exclaimed to the green-eyed one. "It's nice that you want to talk, but all I want you to do, is follow me, and shut up, until we get where we're going." He might would be mistaken for bossy by anyone whom didn't know him, but that really wasn't -too- much the case. He simply liked who he liked, and disliked who he disliked. And those who bothered him that he disliked, would receive their warning. 'Mingan' could consider that his... The truth of the matter was, Helaku didn't really -want- this 'Mingan' to talk even WHEN they reached well... wherever it was that they were headed. The gamma really had no destination in particular to be headed to, and this made his thoughts pause briefly before turning back on reality. His eyes were slightly narrowed, his mind still trying to withhold from leaving the helpless one out here all alone anyways. After what seemed like such a short time to the male, but probably felt more like hours to the dolt behind him, the two of them came to a clearing of some sort of a mid-forest oasis. Heh. What a find what a find. This way, if the bothersome coward became too much of a nuisance, escaping him underwater would be no problem. Or better yet, just dipping his head beneath it a bit. Yes...nothing too cruel, but he'd be able to get the point across if irritated enough.

Meanwhile, not too far off, Fute was making his destination at no place in particular as well. His only concern was remaining with Rochir. For now and forever. The leaves crackled beneath his feet as each new step alongside his newfound cared-about-one filled his heart with joy. The forestry was calm, clear, and peaceful. Serene and beautiful. It was a favorite hobby of his, taking time out to notice the little things in life. Some might even say that it was one of his best qualities - always being able to see the good in everything, nomatter what. It had only ever left him, said ability, once recently, and he hoped it wouldn't happen again. A few quick steps to the side and the gamma plunged his nose into Rochir's for a gentle kiss as they trekked. Nothing was better than spending time with the one you loved in the forest.

Another scent, however, was beginning to drift its way up into his nostrils, filling them with an aroma of another wolf. Or perhaps....perhaps two wolves.... and and.... water. Water, and two other wolves? Nearby? My my, what great luck. An opportunity for new friendships AND a possible food source. For wherever there was water in the woods, there was sure to be fair game nearby. His stomach had been rumbling all evening, after he'd gone for the past little while without any food whatsoever. "Smells like wolves. Two others. And water. Do ya smell that Rochir?" He questioned the red male in a happy and content manner. Either way, he was fine with the way things were going.

Helaku had by now made his way onto a rather well-sized rock formation and was basking in the heat of the overhead sun that shone through the small opening between the circlet of trees surrounding them. Little attention would now be paid to this 'Mingan' character, unless there was anything of importance he'd have to say to him. Which, for that matter, was highly unlikely. And just what kind of name was 'Mingan' anyways. What bunch of losers would name their pups such wimpy terms. Mingan....almost similar to mingin. Haha. The male snickered at the thought. "My name is Helaku." That's about as much as he'd offer the sorry sap until he proved he was worth actually speaking to or getting to know. It wasn't like him to waste his precious time on those he felt didn't deserve it. A flicker of his tail revealed his pleased nature, and the smarter wolf would do well not to disturb him.

Suddenly his nose twitched, some other varying scents gushing hisaway. Blegh! Augh! What was going to disturb him NEXT now! Please good LORD let it not be someone like this mingin' Mingan character! Again he chuckled, but realized that this turn of events was inducing a splitting headache into his sinuses. Great. Absolutely great. He saves the life of another wolf, and this is how karma repays him? A snort came along as he settled his eyes shut. If either of the two from afar came into this meeting and tried to interrupt his otherwise mediocrely peaceful relaxation beneath the warm sun, there would be trouble.

Mingan followed. He was good at following! He did not speak again, just walked in silence. He had decided early in life that it was only really best to speak if you were spoken to first, and such was one of his mottos in life. The other wolf would lead him to a nice place, there would be no reason to save him from an elk if he would only turn around and hurt him more. A smart wolf would let the elk kill him and THEN come in to eat him when the elk left.. a smart wolf wouldn't eat another wolf. Mingan had confused himself now. Ohwell, he was only following this other wolf anyway, confusion wouldn't hinder that.

EEK! Mingan didn't make a sound, but his ears pinned back and his tail zipped back between his legs upon being spoken to roughly. He had stopped crying now, and had even become less afraid by this time, but apparently the other wolf didn't like to talk. Instead of affirming or agreeing verbally with what the oddly colored wolf said, he just nodded his head, not wanting the wolf to ditch him now. Mingan would follow, and not talk unless asked to, or until the other wolf calmed down. Mingan usually liked just talking to himself, but now he would remain quiet, not wanting to upset the other wolf again.

Rochir was just having fun walking with Fute. They didn't need to be doing anything in particular for him to enjoy himself now adays, as long as Fute was by his side there was always something interesting going on. The scenery around them was beautiful, and while he had never been one to just look at it, it made for very nice surrounding now. A steady grin kept on his maw, and only widened at the kiss he recieved, giving Fute a nuzzle in return.

The scent of other wolves and water hit his nose also, though he didn't think much of it. New wolves were new wolves, and water was water, though a drink sounded nice about now. The forest wasn't particularly hot in these areas, but one could work up a thirst walking for long enough. "Ah do, Fute." he spoke in answer to his companion's question. He wasn't sure if the other wolves were friendly, but he figured confrontation was the spice of life. It would be fine all around, he was pretty sure.

Letting the other wolf settle first, Mingan soon found himself a nice rock under a tree to settle on. He was more interested in cool shade than the sun, no matter at what intensity. It occured to Mingan that this wolf was not as friendly as he would hope for in a traveling companion, but it also occured to him that they would not be traveling together for very much longer. He layed himself down on his rock of choice and curled himself around, finally getting to tend to his wound. The elk's hoof had hit his right hip, leaving a semi-large gash. Worrying over it, Mingan set to cleaning it gingerly, whining softly, trying to stay as quiet as possible. As the other wolf spoke again, Mingan's ears twitched. Helaku. he thought to himself. He nodded and went back to licking his wound.

Soon his nose was picking up new smells. More wolves! Mingan began to twitch with excitement and fear, hoping for his life that they would be nice wolves. They smelled almost familiar, but he couldn't place it. Ohwell, he would know soon if they were a good familiar, or a bad familiar. Either way he was sure this.. Helaku.. would help him out again if need be. He seemed young and strong, though Mingan could be bodily strong if needed, he wasn't exactly young anymore. His mind wasn't exactly strong either.

His coat was sure enough mangled and matted with a load of s**t. In both a literal and non-literal sense of the meaning. The sun was dimming down, and for the love of mike, this thunderhead was still over here! He figured he would've already been scared off by now, the way he reacted to a dumb creature like that pathetic excuse for an elk. Any smarter species would've realized the trickery he'd been up to, running through those trees like a lunatic. Yeah, he admitted it. He had been running through the woods like a lunatic. But he had good purpose and reasoning, and after all, there was practically not a task upon the knowledge of the earth ones that could ever downgrade his level of intellectual superiority. What he lacked in size and strength, for the small portion he did, he obviously made up in both smarts and wit. And perhaps it was all the same a better deal for his behalf, since the nuisance one hadn't stopped being a bugger since the second he'd had the misfortune of running into him. Granted he was hurt, but damnit, the woods were no place for such a wimp! Didn't he have a nice pack to run home to, if he can't take an injury on without whimpering half the time? Geez... The splitting headache just wouldn't stop, and the purely vile mess that had consumed his body was beginning to make his skin itch.

Jumping off into the small accumulation of water below, he focused on quickly getting rid of the troublesome pig's pen as fast as he could. It would do no good to do otherwise, and besides, Mingin wasn't any concern of his. If he couldn't take care of himself, so be it. He'd done what he could to save his life, and as far as he was concerned, their dealings were practically over. Unless of course, another life-threatening hurdle mounted itself upon their seemingly tranquil abode; that case which wasn't nearly as likely as anything else. And as far as the two wolves apporaching them were concerned, Helaku didn't much care if they came or if they didn't. No skin off his back now. His relaxation had already been disrupted, and this did however make him more irritable, and moreso easily proned to flipping out at any given second, should a word be placed in a sentence wrong that was spoken to or of him, or should another wolf step out of line. Or one of many other things as well.

Fute noticed that Rochir didn't seem all too much as enthusiastic as he was about gathering with the other wolves that were about, but it wasn't an unnatural occurance for either of them. The spotted male knew far too well that his companion wasn't always as hyper and bright-outlooked as he. But that was all fine and dandy; no two wolves were alike. Heck, no two creatures were alike, for that matter. His body wasn't even sore anymore, surprisingly, and soon the water would unveil itself, as already it's crystal top sounded a splash from afar. Little did he realize it was Helaku's splash. He took a whiff of the air with his nose again. "I think it's.." He paused for a moment, trying to place the scents to their owners. It took much longer than a moment, but finally he spoke up again. "It's Helaku. Helaku and.....another oddly familiar wolf that I cannot quite place."

As the both of them came out of the opening and into the oasis many brief minutes later, Fute was shocked at what he saw. It reminded him so much of the very oasis that he and Rochir had last encountered one another at during their puphood. It was the last time he remembered seeing him before their lives parted for all that long while. A sigh of nostalgia fell from his maw and all fours stretched out, taking in the warm, crisp air and overhead sunlight. It looked as though one of the wolves was terribly hurt, and this concerned Fute, but he wanted to say nothing to anyone until Rochir made his first moves first, for a lack of better explanation through his thoughts.

Helaku had just concluded getting the last tidbits of the crap off his paws and was about to work on his body whenever the other two showed up. Fute... He recognized him almost instantly, surprisingly and awkwardly enough. The other, however, was a wolf he did not know. Whatever the case, neither of them were any threat to his standing, or himself, so there was no worry and no need to bother with either of them. Yeah, that Fute had once been a good friend of his, and to a certain extent, he still considered the oddly spotted male pretty damned cool, for a nice guy that is, but damnit...sometimes he was a little too nice. That was something that really irked the yellow male, and it showed by his ignorance of their existence. The other that had come with him seemed smaller and more frail, if probably just as strong as Fute himself. Neither of them were as strong as he though, and the other male following the one he remembered looked completely like, well, a dumbutt. He looked more like a red fox than a wolf! The gamma chuckled at the thought and continued to mind his own business, though a passing glance did look over his shoulder to see if Mingin was up to anything. Rather any of them deserved his attention or not, their meeting might make for an interesting show. And if it didn't, he'd of course show them how it's done. Boredom was not his one true love.

Mingan finished licking his hip and quieted his whining. There wasn't much to do now but sit. He was no longer hungry or thirsty, and really didn't have anywhere else to go. This was the essence of Mingan - hanging around somewhere until absolutely necessary to leave. There was really no reason for him to wander, it only got him into trouble, and most things in the woods were very scary. He wondered why Helaku was mean spirited, why did the wolf have any reason to hate him. Mingan did realize that he was a burden to most, and he did realize that no one owed him any favors, especially this wolf. He would be eternally gratefull to Helaku for saving him, but he wouldn't get overly showy about it, he wasn't the type to be overly showy over anything, at least not on purpose. He figured simply, that he would just thank Helaku and keep it at that. Yes, normally he would let the yellow wolf know that he could be on his way, that Mingan would fend for himself.. but this wolf didn't seem to want Mingan to talk again.

There was no way Mingan would let him get away without a thank you though.

"Thank you.." he whispered quietly, just before Helaku ducked under water, half hoping the other wolf hadn't heard him for fear that he would snap at him again. The grey-pelt figured there was no reason for anyone to hate him, save for possibly thinking that he was stupid. And yes, even Mingan believed himself to be stupid. There was no way around that, he was simply dense. What smart wolf would attack a healthy elk alone, anyway? Mingan shook his head at the thought, wishing he had the foresight to keep himself out of such stupid troubles. Despite the dense nature, Mingan usually tried to look on the bright side of things, at least enough to keep himself in a less-than-depressed state. Though he found his life to be less than perfect, he was not the type to sit and wonder about jumping off a cliff or any other means of killing himself. He would be alive until someone killed him, or he died of old age.

It was true, Rochir was neither thrilled nor unhappy to meet up with more wolves. Fute on the other hand was probably wriggling in his fur with glee, and his heart warmed to the thought. Anything that made Fute happy, instantly gained on Rochir's good side. He let his nose go to work, scenting the air. Yes, one of the scents was definitely familiar... one of the only new wolves Rochir had met in his adult life. After listening to Fute speak about Helaku, he offered his own. "T' other one is.. uh.. Mingan, that's it. The wolf that 'helped me pull ye out of t' 'ole." he smiled, happy that he could place the scent. Helaku was another story, he had never heard of the wolf before, nor heard Fute speak of him. He hoped he was a friend, he was not in a stable mood and was not up to dealing with some jackass wolf.

Breaking the treeline into the oasis confirmed his thought that it was in fact Mingan he scented. The familiar grey coated wolf was lounging somewhat uncomfortably on a rock across the water from them, and Rochir could smell blood. Hoping it was from a recent meal and not one of the wolves he moved closer to Fute with an unsettling look on his face. The oasis was awfully familiar, and Rochir dared to become a victim of nostalgia, wondering if this was really the place he remembered it to be. He could almost envision himself and Fute as pups.. sitting at the edge of the water. A soft laugh escaped his maw as he gave Fute's muzzle a short lick.

Mingan's ears perked. No this was not a random wolf, this was friends! Mingan only met them once but he thought of them as friends. They had been friendly enough, and that was enough for Mingan to call someone a friend. He had helped the red one pull the spotted one out of a hole, how exciting and scary it had been! By the looks of it they had succeeded, and the spotted male was ok now. If not hurt, Mingan would have launched himself up to the others, even spoken to them. For now he would just greet them. Friends were here, it didn't matter if stuffy Helaku told him not to talk.

"Hello!" he chirped happily, despite his injuries. He had wondered often what happened to the two, as they had parted ways with him fairly quickly.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 16, 2006 7:00 pm

Fute was standing his ground. It was a practice he frequently partook in, and especially in circumstances such as this. But when Rochir gave his muzzle a short lick, the male became more ecstatic and began to grow more hyperactive as well, double-taking in circles a few time following the gesture. It would appear that the other two wolves allocated here were very nice, and his love had mentioned that one of them had helped him be rescued from the depths of the abyss of that darn hole. His heart would be forever grateful, and finally he could relax, knowing that this wolf was clearly no harm. Not that he'd appear to be anyways; this one looked rather old. Older than himself even. Needless to say his appearance was also weak, lacking in physical strength or rather, the look of lacking it.

Once Mingan approached them with a chirrup, a chippery mood attached, he was hooked. Good times again....good times indeed. Except for the fact that Helaku no longer seemed pleasant in nature, nor someone to be oh too familiar with. He allowed a paw swipe to come at Mingan in a friendly manner, though he hoped misunderstandings about his movement wouldn't be made. Even if he looked happy, it was a translucent cover to his true, underlying jittery-ness. He remembered this from the night of the hole, when his voice sounded as such.

The yellow male's fur stood on end. Happiness was all fine and dandy, but too much of it gathered into a small pocket of people, that was just blasphemous to his prescence! How dare they exclude him like that, even moreso! He spat at their general direction. They were just pleading to be kicked in the a**, it seemed. No longer too concerned with dwindelling the rest of the muck from his otherwise now spectacularly shiny coat, he dragged himself from the water and shook himself off. By now each hair on his body stood up in its place, and to many it'd come off as a poofy, poodle-ish look. Probably one of the most hilarious sights ever, but if they even so much as SNICKERED at him, they were going to pay. Through the nose, ears, and a**. Quite rly. He urged forward to join the group, for the while ignorant of his less than wonderful new style. "Evening, fellas." He tried to stay pretty much as calm as wolfly possible. Any hints to his anger might scare them off, and hell, that'd be no fun whatsoever. Not that he needed their annoying selves trashing the area, but a good laugh was entertainment every once in a while, and yes, these characters were laughable; noone really to care about.

He'd noticed wallago that Rochir had given Fute a small lick to the muzzle. This made him furious, and he wondered what kind of a sam's hill flippin' fire ******** SAPPY a** place this just was! Who'd they think they were! Of course now, Helaku wasn't homophobic or anything. Just rather easily irritated, and annoyed by people who seemed happy 24/7. And those that were frightened 24/7, or sad 24/7, were in the same token as equally considered a nuisance as the rest of them. Right now he wasn't even noticing anyone but Fute and Rochir. Mingan was someone he didn't want to get to know. Mingan was a weakling, and didn't need to be in these woods. He'd already shoved himself between Fute and Rochir, which to most minds, would have come off as rude. Did he care? Not rly.

There was usually a certain attitude difference between the elder and younger of a species. Mingan didn't carry this, and so acted his usual even in the range of age differences around him. The old wolf stood awkwardly in front of the two healthy wolves, his right back leg tucked under his belly again. He whined softly and allowed his tail to sway in the breeze. "Is spotted wolf ok now? I hope you are... the fall into that hole had to have been.. " Mingan paused to search for the words. "Traumatizing." It hadn't yet occured to the grey-pelt that he didn't know the wolves names. They would know his though, he had spoken it last time they met.

The paw-swipe elicited a soft yelp from Mingan, but he did well not to jump back, lest he stumble and fall. For the moment he was standing on three legs, his fourth tucked under, the wound over his hip stinging badly. He looked over the two wolves thoughtfully, he was happy that they were.

Rochir smiled at Mingan and shuffled his paws, fluffing his tail and swaying it softly. He had thought a few minutes before that perhaps the blood on the wind was prey, but now realized it was the older wolf. Sniffing the air around again, he sat himself down, making sure to keep his tail out from under him and hoping Minan would relax a bit also. Nervous wolves made him nervous.

Not only that, but the other wolf made him nervous. There was no way he would show it, so he just sat comfortably, a slight smile on his maw. It was very hard to not laugh at the other wolf's fur as he exited the water. The smile quickly changed to a smirk as the yellow wolf grew closer. Helaku, Fute had called him, and now he noticed his companion standing a bit on edge.

"Evenin'" Rochir answered in his scottish drawl, dipping his head slightly in greeting. "So ow'd you two come about each other?" he asked back, kneeding the earth between his toes, a bored habit.

Intriguing. Neither of the wolves seemed intimidated by him, but rather, came off as short-winded for attention spans instead. How odd. The yellow male almost chuckled, but held it back beneath his breath. Out of the corner of an eye, he noticed the red male with a smirk on his face. It didn't take a dimwit to see through to the root of his facial gesture, and it was uncanny that he hadn't snapped at him already for mocking him inwardly. These wolves apparently had no idea whatsoever of who they were getting theirselves mixed in with. If need be, he was prepared to open a fatass can of whoopass on them, but in actuality it wasn't his intentions. He needn't waste his glorious life with imbeciles like these. Well, with the exception of Fute, who was the only one of them that had so much as an incling of mindset to be the equivalent of his own. For now he entirely ignored the...butthead's....remark about how they'd met. Was it really any of his business? Any regular wolf would've taken it as a direct way to strike conversation, but not Helaku. He took it as one of the lamest excuses someone could come up with to speak, when they didn't know what to say and just wanted to talk for the hell of it. He snickered and moved himself back over alongside the puny older male.

Orbs watched this hyena up and down in a detailed roundabout way, and because his brain was twice the size of a normal wolf's (or so he felt), it became all too obvious that beneath this outward viscosity of mellow attitude was a nervous wreck. Not too surprising. The wolves he was running into lately were all the same. They were all weaklings. Dumbutts. King losers of the woods. He couldn't compare to the dolt trembling next to him, but it was still enough to consider his time to have already wasted far too much of his time. He would admit, however, that his nerves were on end. Not in a nervous sense, really, but instead in the sense that anything was bound to set him off. They'd excluded him to begin with, not saying anything until he came over, and then made conversation that would put a squirrel on speed to sleep! Damn them. They were certainly on his bad side. In the worst way possible.

Fute was simply stunned that the elder male from oh so long ago was acting the way he was. His behavior was uncalledfor and totally juvenile. He could have at least said excuse me. The spotted male narrowed his eyes in a glare at Helaku's standing point, watching as he stepped back over alongside Mingan, then broke the stare whenever reality struck back in. "I met Helaku here when I was a pup. He seemed nice....back in the day." His last few words were muttered beneath his breath, and probably would foreshadow extremely button-pushing of the on-edge other one. The results would not be pretty, but what must be said must be said. Even though it was not like him to ever say anything negative of another wolf, this one had been rude. And when people had been rude to him, he would remark. In one way or another, he would... A moment passed and he took the initiative to carefully creep towards Mingan, inspecting the wound that lay upon his hip. It wasn't a pretty one, and it looked quite painful. He turned and placed a paw on the male's shoulder. "We're all friends here. No need to back away or be afraid. And yes, I'm fine. And eternally grateful to you." He gave a gentle tug to one of his ears. Who said old males would be completely opposed to playing? Heh.

At the notion that Fute was edging closer to his hip, the old male drew his leg up closer to his body, if that was even possible at this point. The pain had almost subsided to a dull ache before, but now it was driving him to tears again. The tears only flooded him more when Fute confirmed that they were his friend. Mingan had never had another wolf call him a friend before, much less two wolves. Even though the red wolf had not said anything directly to him yet, he knew that he shared the feelings of the spotted one, and this made him weep with joy, tears mixed with those that were shed in pain.

"Mingan is honored you would call him friend.. nobody ever wants to stay with me for long.. they say I am only a burden." he spoke, a hint of an old wise-man coming through in his voice. "Where have the two of you come from?" he asked, always intrigued as to where wolves showed up from, as no one could merely *appear* from nowhere. He payed little attention to the paw on his shoulder at this time, it felt good to feel the warm touch of another, when the other meant no harm.

Rochir ignored Mingan for the most part. It was not that he didn't think the small old wolf was worth his time, just that.. to put it simply, Rochir was afraid he might give the elder a heart attack. The red male was not the gentlest of wolves, and figured that Fute would be more up for the job of conversing with Mingan for the time being. He would work on building trust at a later date, if they ever met up again.

But right now it was the yellow male Rochir tended to. He wasn't too thrilled to have him around, he was more a nuissance than anything, the red male figured. Anyone who would blatantly ignore another was just.. ergh. It made Rochir's fur bristle slightly, and it was most he had to keep from snarling in the other wolf's face. Sure, this yellow wolf looked older, but that didn't mean a damn thing to Rochir. He had grown up hard, and as such had kept himself strong and fit, though he didn't look it. One would call his type "wirey". Instead of repeating himself he merely cleared his throat, and turned his attention to Fute and Mingan.

Fute almost wanted to chuckle whenever Mingan moved his leg in closer to his body. Did he think that he was going to hurt him? The spotted male was not, and had never been, harmful to anyone. He wasn't even going to touch him. But alas, and here the elder male was going on about how people say he's a burden. Him? A burden? Pshaw. Not in the slightest. "Well don't you worry. I'm not going to say or think that about you, and I'm sure noone else here will either. Whoever says such things, well, they're total idiots." He leaned in to give the male a quick nuzzle of friendship. It was obvious he needed love right now..

His heiness (hiny) noticed that the red one's fur was bristling and figured it was because of him, for he seemed fine around the other two. At least for the most part anyways. Hah. So he was afraid of him, or rather, angered at him? Good. They were all along the same line of emotions anyways. He snickered at the thought of the male even ATTEMPTING to have a go at him. He swiped some dirt right into the butthead's eyes before turning to face Fute. Starting up trouble? Maybe. Not that he really wanted a fight, but he took Rochir's uneasy fur bristlings as a challenge against him; and he was one to never turn down a challenge. Unless the event occured that the challenge would impose life-threatening danger upon him. Then he'd deny. He wasn't stupid. "I do." Two words were enough for him. Not a speech worth's of words like the spotted one seemed to love to spread. His tone sounded rather harsh, but in fact it was meant to be rather sardonic.

HEE! Mingan was happy, to say the least. He wasn't a wolf to crave attention, especially the bad kind, but Fute's positive energy was doing well to make him feel better. He returned the nuzzle and even managed to let his tail wag slightly. Catching the last part of Fute's sentance caused Mingan's ears to pin back, he knew Helaku would think such things. A feeling came over him that he didn't want, an unhappy feeling... a scared feeling.

He was growing to like this wolf less and less, just the way he moved and acted, and though all was silent, it still got on Rochir's nerves. The next few seconds sent dirt flying up at his eyes. Blinking quickly he managed to miss most of it, though some irritant remained. He stood and growled then. "Yer aff yer heid." he was ready to fight now, and would if needed. Sudden fears of Fute or Mingan being injured flashed in his mind, but he kept them buried. He was sure Fute could hold his own, but that was just the type of wolf Rochir was - he wanted to take the blows for those he cared about.

"If ye touch me mate or the auld wolf, ah'll rip ye'r ******** face off." he bristled angrily. It would occur to him later the term he had used to speak of Fute, and he would deal with that bridge when he came to it.
