Well, a lot of paper products are recycled anyway. Corn paper could be okay, though.

Paper is wrong no matter what its made from. They are made from the Earth Mother's children.

I don't think paper is wrong, if we use it responsibly. As parts of the Earth, we do have a right to take from Mother Earth as long as we pay her back.

CORN IS FOR EATING!

So is Rice.

Trees are for absorbing atmospheric temperatures.

I think you make a very good point.

In the not so distant future, everything will be electronic, and there won't be a need for paper.

Think about it. Students will do all their work on laptops, then email it to their teachers.
Paper currency won't be used as much, because people are relying more and more on electronic money.
And theres also electronic books, which are becoming more and more popular.

The possibilities are endless, really.

But what if the power goes out? eek

There is actually a very interesting website that has been set up by the Long Now Foundation. You should check it out, as it discusses the problems the society of the future may face in preserving information electronically for long periods of time. Call me a hypocritical hippie if you want, but I know I would miss real, physical books. The smell of the pages and the feel of the cover are all part of the reading experience. heart

As for corn paper, I don't see why it would be any better than paper made from trees. If we switched our dependence completely over to corn, more forests of trees would probably be cleared to make more acreage available for corn growing, don't you think?

We've got the sun, we've got the tides, we have the winds, and we have the uranium.

If those run out, we die, because the sun will end the world through supernova, the water will end the world through dehydration, the wind will end the world because the seeds will no longer be spread, or the uranium will end the world because the only way the U.S. is going to run out of that stuff is by bombing everyone alive.

Power will last us until we die.
