A crisp spring morning, as the sun eased itself over the horizon Jess waited. Passing the time before the boys arrived she practiced a few kicks and blocks to warm her body up. The air felt nice and cold as her hand cut through it, the morning dew dampening the bottoms of her tracksuit.

Straightening up she stretched her arms out and looked up at the peachy sky as the sun crowned the moutains. Perfect day for what she had on her agenda.
Spotting one of the boys in the distance she stood and straightened her old academy sweater, waiting for her to reach them.

Normally Kayne was a morning person. He loved getting up at the crack of dawn to do his morning jog. It was his time to think uninterrupted. But not this morning. This morning he was supposed to meet that teacher that had broken up his fight with Rashne. He thought it was kind of dumb of her to have dumped him on that Yusuke guy and then insist on punishing him as well. What was her name again? Monte- something. He had the slip of paper in his pocket, but he didn't feel like pulling it out to look at it again.

Sighing he slipped his hands into his pockets as he approached the spot she had told him to meet her. She was already there and looked like she was waiting for him, so he slowed his pace a bit. If she was going to waste his morning, then he would do the same to her. Finally reaching the spot she was standing, he stopped a short distance from her with a blank look on his face.

"Morning," he said coolly.

Of course Ra had been up since the crack of dawn. He had stayed up late to finish his detention essay, too late to take his meds. That of course meant he was woken after only a couple hours sleep by the nightmare.

The last thing he needed when facing whatever detention this woman had in for him was to be mind fuzzed so he decided to take a run.

As he jogged back onto campus he noticed the woman and Kayne waiting already speeding up a little he hoped he wasn't late. He didn't need any more crap on his plate right now.

Jess watched Kayne approach her face blank but not emotionless. When Ysuske had insisted that she punish the boys she had looked up their permanent records.

Reading over them had made her want to give both boys a huge hug and a cup of tea but that wasn't going to help them. It was clear they needed an outlet for their pain and anger. She had just the idea.

Detentions and cleaning duties worked on bad kids, those that wanted attention and structure. Listening to Cirrus speak about the two boys she realised those menial 'punishments' would just give them something else to bottle up. Their records concluded this.

She watched with amusement as he slowed his pace. What did he think she was going to do. Shout at him for slowing down. She gave a small snort of laughter and shook her head.

"Morning." She said brightly placing a hand on her hip. Turning she noticed the dark haired boy jogging over to them, she waved him over and smiled.

"Morning guys. Introductions again. I'm Ms Montecelli. Outside the classroom you will call me sensei. I will call you Shaidey and Kusani." She paused and folded her arms. "I can tell you are thinking why? Because I want to introduce you to your punishment."
She smiled again. "Shaidey, you are now Archery club captain. Kusani, you are Vice captain. No arguments. Now, have you ever done Tai Chi?"

Her cheery demeanor caused Kayne to raise an eyebrow. She was getting way too much pleasure out of this, he thought. When she made a gesture, he turned slightly to see Rashne jogging towards them. Immediately a frown crossed his face. After talking to Aeron he wasn't fully sure how he felt about the other boy. He did feel bad for hitting him, but he still believed he had been in the wrong for butting in where he didn't belong.

As she started to speak again, he turned his attention to her. Montecelli... that's what it was. Introduce us to our punishment? He fought the urge to roll his eyes. Her smile irritated him. But at her next words he felt as though his feet had been knocked out from under him. What the hell was she thinking? He started to open his mouth to say something, but she cut him off with her brusque 'no arguments'.

"No," he replied shaking his auburn head a bit in answer to the Tai Chi question.

"Morning." Ra said nodding his head at the woman and glancing sideways at Kayne. Although he had been up for a couple of hours already he was put off by her cheery smile and manner. Scowling slightly he listened to her instructions.

He blinked at her suggestion that he be Vice Captain. Was she crazy, he'd never even set foot inside the range before, hell he'd never even held a bow.
At her question he raised an eyebrow.
"Isn't that that what old ladies do?" He said thinking about something he had seen on TV.

Such a cheery pair. Although highly amused by the looks on their faces when she announced their fate she shifted from a smirk back to her blank expression.
"Well, Kunsani-san." She began. "Old people do do it, so do young people. Though it is a martial art. Invented in India by a general as a way to teach his troops patience and discipline."

Unfolding her arms she took a step back from them and stood feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent.
"Now, Japanese archery is the highest form of martial arts. It is an extremely spiritual and disciplined sport. One that takes years to even begin to master. To be able to do it well you need to be able to focus, draw on energy within yourself. Tai Chi is a good exercise for this. Now I want you to stand like me, knees off lock, your balance centered. This is very important. If you are not balanced then your stance is weak and you will fail."

Kayne gave a soft snort at Rashne's comment. Not so much because he was laughing at him, but agreeing with him. Surpressing a rather big sigh Kayne moved to mimic her position, feeling incredibly ridiculous. What kind of game was she playing? That Yusuke guy had been easy to deal with. Where was the yelling and the detention?

"Ms. Mon... I mean sensei," he said emphasizing the word in place of rolling his eyes, "If you don't mind me saying so... I think you're off your rocker." If that didn't level the playing field, he didn't know what would.

Ra also mimicked her position feeling equally as stupid. It was quite a painful way to stand, putting a lot of strain on his leg muscles but he wasn't one to argue if it was getting him out of more essay writing.

Kayne comment came as a suprise, one that made Ra give an involuntary burst of laughter. It wasn't that he agreed with him as such, although he did think she was a little crazy. Just the phrase was so funny.
Catching his laughter he swallowed it and looked at the floor.

Jess looked at the boy and smirked. No doubt he thought he had balls speaking to her like that. Trying to solicit a reaction. Did he think she wasn't a teenager. That she had never been in trouble, she remembered how it worked. There were no new tricks in teacher antagonism.

"You know, Shaidey. I could say the same about you." She said holding her arms out in front of her. "But that would be unprofessional." Her tone was flat and dry, lacking its earlier brightness. "So, what makes you so adament that I am crazy?" She asked. "And that is not a rhetorical question." She added her tone calm and relaxed.

Kayne raised an eyebrow at her response. She was definitely a new breed of teacher for him. He straightened his legs from the uncomfortable position and looked her straight in the eye. "Because you just made someone who doesn't know a flying flip about archery your captain and then you expect him to do grandma exercises in hopes that he'll be able to master said archery. You're crazy if you think that you're going to get anywhere with this 'punishment'," he replied smoothly.

As before Ra kept quiet. He wasn't one to argue against punishment. He had only behaved the way he did towards Yusuke because of his constant prying and unwillingness to listen.

Watching Kayne and Jess was like a tenis match of words, his eyes flitting between the both of them with interest. He was waiting for the edge to come into view. She was bound to snap at some point.

Jess watched him get worked up and straightened up. Placing her hands on her hips she walked to stand right in front of him. Many women would be scared of a boy almost a head taller than them, but she didn't care. She could floor him quicker than he would be able to blink.
"When you put it like that. You're right, maybe I am crazy. Crazy to think that someone like you had an ounce of intelligence to deal with a psychologically demanding warm up."

She kept her eyes on his, her voice level. "In any other circumstances I would say you were the one 'off their rocker.' To argue so much with someone phsically, intellectually and emotionally your superiour. I would say that was a great sign of disrespect." She raised her eyebrows and stepped back. "But respect must be earned, I do not give up Shaidey-san I will earn your respect and you will earn mine."

Giving a sigh she turned to look at the field, it was pretty big, the size of a professional soccer field at least. "O.k meatheads two laps of the field. I'm going to head to the canteen and get us some water. When you are done wait here till I get back and try not to kill each other." She paused and cocked her head to one side. "Though don't worry too much if you do, It'll save me the job of disciplining you."

Kayne stared down at her with his wintry eyes. He didn't want to admit it, especially not to her, but she was already well on her way to earning his respect. She wouldn't back down. Not even when she stood right under his nose to lecture him did she back off. A grin tugged at the corner of his lips, but he held it back. He wasn't going to insult her anymore. At least not for now. As she turned to leave he gave Rashne a long look, then took off at a leisurely jog.

Ra gave a smirk at Jess's reply and resisted the urge to say 'K.O sensei wins.'
It was interesting, the way she tackled the situation, almost playing him at his own game, accusing him of being weak. She was good.

At the cry of "You too Kusani." He took off after Kayne running until he caught up with him and the easing out into a jog.
"That was interesting." He said dropping his breathing to a steady pace and jogging alongside Kayne. Ra wasn't one to dismiss people after one scrap. Especially as he knew he provoked the situation.
