OMFG ppl! i was just surfing the net and i found this interview:
For Armstrong, who grew up with band member Dirnt in a suburb of Berkeley called Rodeo, homosexuality is neither a new subject nor one he must defend himself against. ?I think I?ve always been bisexual,? Armstrong says simply. ?I mean, it?s something that I?ve always been interested in. I think everybody kind of fantasizes about the same sex. I think people are born bisexual, and it?s just that our parents and society kind of veer us off into this feeling of Oh, I can?t. They say it?s taboo. It?s ingrained in our heads that it?s bad, when it?s not bad at all. It?s a very beautiful thing.?
When asked whether this beautiful thing is something he?s ever actually acted on, the recently married (and about to become a father) Armstrong smiles. ?I think mostly it?s been kept in my head,? he says. ?I?ve never really had a relationship with another man. But it is something that comes up as a struggle in me. It especially came up when I was about 16 or 17. In high school people think you have to be so macho. People get attacked just because someone insinuates something about their sexuality. I think that?s gruesome.?
Armstrong?s struggle with his sexuality isn?t something that has gone unnoticed by his fans. ?I?ve gotten letters because I wrote this song on Dookie called ?Coming Clean? about coming out,? he says with the same ease that Kurt Cobain used to show while talking about his song ?All Apologies? and the now-famous lyric from it: ?What else should I say/ Everyone is gay.?
Although he doesn?t talk about sleeping with men, Armstrong does admit that homosexuality has definitely touched his life in very personal ways. ?I have an ex-girlfriend who was bisexual,? he says softly. ?I think now that she was really a lesbian. And that?s find by me. I mean, we had a relationship that was just me and her, total dedication and devotion. I?m very monogamous. At that time it wouldn?t have mattered whether she was with a man or a woman--I would have been jealous!?
it's hott isnt it?

Interesting... I knew he was bi, but it's cool he's all open about it and doesn't try to hide it. Which would be hard because he's liked... kissed guys on public TV before...

How long ago was this interview? This is certainly something that has seemed to pass over a bit. He seems very much in love with his wife, so it really doesn't matter what sexuality he is. Once you're in love, it doesn't matter.

Which would be hard because he's liked... kissed guys on public TV before... though I have to agree with that. I'm not really sure he does that though to express his bisexual interests or wants or whatever, it's more to get attention and make people think and wonder. But it could be his bi side showing. Who knows? I still think it doesn't really matter because he loves his wife and that's all that counts.

I agree...he's so in love with his wife that it doesn't matter. And no, he's obviously not trying to hide it. But he's famous, and likes to make his thoughts and opinions known, and he likes to stand up for what he believes in. He believes that's okay...and that's cool that he's making it known.
I just want to know what his wife thinks about him kissing guys on public TV. He's very monogamous, is he? lol...

i think that he's some kind of bisexual, but just for joking, but to be a sensible man, it doesn't mean to be bi or gay or stuff like that, it's ok if he wants to... i just respect people, and that's the only thing that we can do....

Does it really matter if he is or not? He kisses only guys because if he kisses girls his wife would go mental. Now, if my logic is correct: If Billie Joe was bisexual and kissed guys on tour, Adrienne would automatically be (even a little) bit frustrated with him. She would assume that he had a genuine crush on them, and she would be afraid that he may divorce her. (Which of course he wouldn't! Ah love... heart ) So, I think that Billie Joe isn't bisexual, he just kisses guys for the hell of it..

He's just trying to get attention and experience things that normally people don't do. And, at this time, even if he IS bisexual, like I said before, he's married so it don't matter! (sorry about the bad grammar...) He's in love and he obviously isn't falling out of it. (which is yeah, really cute)

Meeh. I think maybe he is bi-curious. He can see himself kissing boys and such, but can see himself settling down with a woman. [Which he's already done.. sweatdrop ] Point is, who really ******** cares? Who is and isn't bisexual or bi-curious in this day and age?

This is my first post on this Guild, I just saw this thread and had to jump on it! I've only known of Green Day's existence for a few months (shameful... sweatdrop ) but ever since I saw one of their videos I had my suspicions about him... I've been told I have rather good Gaydar, and it kept tingling everytime I saw him! I only found out he was married last week, which kind of crushed my perverted fantasies, but I'm glad to know I was at least half right.
Good on him for being open and honest about it, it's really great that he's comfortable with his sexuality and doesn't feel he has to hide it. And hell, if I was his wife I wouldn't care what he got up to, I'd just be jumping up and down screaming "I'M MARRIED TO BILLIE JOE! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
This could all be the product of no sleep and too much coffee, however.
Either way, well done to him!
