Alone, finally alone. Sanzo sat quietly in one of the many oversized leather bound chairs of the Midori library. Quietly he sat, legs crossed, one hand calmly resting on the arm of the chair, the other holding a large novel. Sanzo never fashioned himself for crowds. He prefered to sit and read a book, rather than socialize with people who might not even be alive tomorrow. After two years, he grew accustomed to the evre revolving door of students. Sure there were a few students who he knew since he was 'accepted', however he figured the farther he was from people, the the less traumatic each 'explusion' was.

"Enough for the day." Quickly closing the book and uncrossing his legs. "Anymore and they'll have to get me a cot for the night."

Sanzo chuckled as he rose from the chair. He picked up his briefcase and walked to the cart hear the exit. Before he exitted the door he turned to the librarian.

"Don't put this one back," softly tapping the top of the book,"I got 4 more chapters i saved for tomorrow. Until we meet again, have a nice day."

Sanzo left, the door slamming behind him, it always swung that way, everyday for the last two years. He walked down the hallway, his shoes clicking with each step across the tile floor.

"I hate these damn wooden soles. I sound like a ******** clock every where I go."

Inari strolled into the library happily. So many books and so little time with which to read them. She walked to the section pertaining to Astro-Physics and removed teh largest book she could. After skimming the first twelve pages she fell unceremoniously into a chair and began to absorb the knowledge that was science and math. "Hmmm...how very intriguing...." The blonde slumped in her seat, flipping through pages rapidly. Much faster than she should be capable of reading.

"Inoue-san, really, if you ever picked up anything besides those silly picture books, I just may die of the shock of it all."

Reiku looked over the top of the copy of XXXholic, then rolled his eyes. "Rromise?" he muttered, not lowering the book, so his mouth remained concealed.

The librarian frowned, but was not sure she had heard anything and continued on her wya. Sheesh, couldn't a guy just read in peace. Someone always had to add their two cents. He lowered the book with a sigh. It would take forever for lunchtime to arrive.

His eyes lazily wandered over to a pretty blonde reading a book as thick as her head. Well, well, someone actually studying something. Reiku snorted, trying to remember the last time he picked up anything from the library that wasn't a manga or a magazine.

It was not long before Inari tossed the heavy book onto the table with an undignified snort. "Useless." She muttered to herself. She had read of such things before, the book would be of no use and neither would its formulas. Seemed she truly was in a hell. With nothing better to do, she noticed an attractive male reading some sort of manga. She stood, walked over to him and set her chin atop her folded hands. A smile touched her coral lips as she greeted him. "Hello."

Reiku's brows lifted in surprise at the blonde appearance. Ordinarily he would have pretneded not to hear her, maybe even going so far as to rise from the table and find another. It was just those sort of actions that had labelled him as anti-social.

"Ohayoo," he replied tentatively, setting the book facedown once more. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, unsure how to proceed. Twisting his lips, he kicked under the table, sending the chair across from him scooting backward. He looked at the girl expectantly. It never once occurred to him to verbally offer her the seat.

Inari looked at the chair and took a seat in it. Moving forward so that her legs rested beneath the table, her feet touching his oustretched legs. She gave him another smile, mischief glittering in her tweety-bird blue eyes. He was and outcast, she just knew it, and outcasts, such as herself, were always interesting subjects to be around. "May I ask what the name of such a fiery and dually handsome young man is?" She leaned her body over the table, using her hands for support so that her face set mere inches from his own."Or would I have my head bit off?"

Reiku snorted as he crossed his legs once more. He drummed his fingernails on the tabletop.

"If that is supposed to be me, then that young man would be Reiku Inoue." He msirked slightly. "though common courtesy dictates you offer your own name before you inquire as to anothers, ne? It's just good manners."

Reiku frowned. Now, that wasn't very sociable at all, was it. He sighed, blowing his wispy red bangs upward.

Inari laughed and fell back into her seat. "Manners you say? Hm, you would have deserved thme had you stood up and offered me the seat, that is what custom also dictates. But I do not think you got into this school because of custom, hm? However, you are right. My name is Inari O'Connel, it is my pleasure to meet you Inoue-san." She stood, and bowed from her wiast to mock him then returned to her seat.

"What is that you're reading Inoue-san?"

Reiku chuckled, rubbing the back of his finger across his lower lips.

"Hai hai hai, good point. I'm hardly one to point out someone's lack of manners, ne. " He returned the bow, if not the mocking manner in which it was performed. "Pleasure to make you aquaintance, O'Connel-san."

He picked up the manga from the table, then slid it across the table to the blonde.

"I wouldn't exactly call it reading. I can't concentrate in here with that bitty giving me the evil eye everytime she walks by. Just some Manga...the cover looked interesting, and I'm a fan of Clamp." Every so often the boy's dark brown eyes darted anxiously to the clock that hung on the wall.

Michael snuck in, looking around to see if he could spot Reiku. "Big library..." thought Michael as he moved around the differant shelves and bookcases in an attempt to find his beloved fellow student.

After a minute, he finaly saw him, well, his back. He giggled to himself, "I'd know that a** anywhere. He's such a cutie." He moved in close, seeing that Reiku was interested in the manga he was reading. He tip toed acroos to him, trying his best not to make a sound.

Reiku folded his hands behind his head and stretched his crossed leg out in front of him under the table, careful to avoid kicking Inari.

"You say your name is O'Connel? How odd....that's doesn't sound Japanese...but it doesn't sound American either. What is it?"

Ok, so Reiku sucked at small talk. And it really didn't help that no matter how hard he tried, he could not keep his eyes from going to the clock, making him look just beyond Inari instead of at her. He knew it was rude, but he couldn't stop. Noon simply was not coming fast enough, and he was positively willing the clock forward.

Inari tilted her head, glancing over the manga and nodding her head. "Clover, it's a good one...though the ending of the series leaves something to be desired." She looked up at him as he questioned the origin of her name. A smile collapsed the mischief in he eyes and instead replaced it with a delighted light. " It is Irish. However, I was raised in the United States. My parents left ireland after my father found a job as an astrophysicist there. My mother teaches English at a college on the East side of the United States."

She smirked."They sent me here because it was the furthest they could get me from the wriled neighbors and the governments wrath."The blonde shrugged and glanced behind her to see what Reiku was so anxious over. "Have somewhere to be Inoue-san?" That was when she noticed him, another boy approaching teh red head from behind. She kept quiet though, that same mischief lighting her eyes once again. "Enlighten me Inoue-san, why is it you were taken?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 27, 2006 10:20 pm

"Actually, XXXHolic....I've seen the artwork for Clover though...it's really pretty. " His eyebrows lifted as she spoke of her origins, his mind instantly drifting to Michael, as though it had far to go.

"Oi, another American. Wow. I know someone who's mother is American. Oi, where were you guys when I first started English?" Once again his eyes drifted to the clock, but snapped back on Inari's face as she made mention of it. His face became beet red and he chuckled nervously.

"Somewhere to be? Well...not immediately, no? Am I that obvious. I'm actually meeting a friend in tthe cafeteria at lunch, and I'm pretty excited." He chuckled again, rubbing the back of his neck, his fingertips accidentally brushing against the silver collar. The coloring quickly faded at Inari's latter questio.

"T-t-taken? What do you mean? What makes you say that?" The coloring quickly returned in a sudden rosy blush as he concentrated intently on the XXXholic.

The Irish teen gave a slight giggle, covering her mouth as she did to stifle the sound as best as possible."Perhaps you hear me wrong. I was wondering why you were brought here. However, that taken question still remains. So...is he your boyfriend?" She questioned, pointiong to the crafty boy attempting to sneak up on Reiku. "Is that whom you are anxious to meet Inoue-san? I should have guessed...all the hot ones are always gay." Once more she laughed. "I'm suprised that my 'gay-dar' did not go off. By the way...I am NOT American. I am Irish. I have spent many a summer with my cousins there."

Her last statement was a little snappy. She simply had pride from whence she came. Her origins were all the young woman had to cling to besides her knowledge. They were important to her.
