Do you think that Jenova was the real bad guy
  Yup, no doubt about it
noo.. Sephiroths an evil b*****d. he did it!!
well, yes and no, Sephiroth shouldn't of let himself get caught up in it
Sephiroth just got mixed up, and it appears that he's the person to blame
I don't know, never relle thought about it..

Think about it, Jenova was the real one that started everyting. She wasn't even Sephiroths mom, Lucrecia was *spolier* and Hojo was his father. Hojo did add Jenova's cells to Lucrecia while pregnent wit/sephiroth.. so theres no real difference between him and any other SOLIDER member.. *did I just say that gonk * No, Sephiroths different, but Jenova was the villian. I think my point got across... sorta

*SPOILER*
JENOVA was pulling the strings the whole time. Sephiroth was very powerful nonetheless, so he was obviously a target for JENOVA to control.
This leads me to believe that Sephiroth was as easy to beat as he was simply because JENOVA was finally destroyed right before his final battle.

Well, I think Sephiroth was kinda caught up in the moment a little too much.... Jenova was bad, but dead too so we can't blame it. Eep! I don't know who to blame!!!

Ya, I agree with your theory, and I think Sephiroth shouldn't of thought that he was her son, just because of the name of his 'mother' Jenova, who really was Lucrecia. but yup, she controlled him nontheless 3nodding

I have never been able to win FFVII (but I've come very close!) and Jenova was showing some powerful mind-control abilities. She (It?) used them most obviously on Cloud, but she was probably controlling Sephiroth as well. Perhaps Jenova was even controlling Hojo as well.

I think at one point in the game, Aeris mentioned that the planet had been attacked before by some being. Could that original being have been Jenova and could it have come back to try again?

Well, those are my two cents. Like I said above, I've never actually won the game so some of this stuff may be no-duh for you guys.

Caution: Spoilers! Do not read ahead if you havn't played the game.

That's kind of a hard decision considering after JENOVA is dead, Sephiroth still plauges the Planet in Advent Children.

JENOVA did use Sephiroth as a puppet at times, but Sephiroth obeyed willingly unlike Cloud when he gave the Black Materia to Sephiroth TWICE! scream

Sephiroth, willingly obeying Mother, summoned Meteor, killed Aerith, and many other things.

So really, Sephiroth could be considered a problem, but JENOVA was the real culprit.

But then again, you can put it in this light: What if Sephiroth knew who his mother and father were? What if he knew the truth? Would he continue to rampage or go back to his old self again? For once, he was a kind person. *nods*

This was my theory as well. JENOVA is the one who made Sephiroth the super 'human' that he is, so why couldn't she control him? Part of her was in him. And in the game, JENOVA is reffered to as 'The Calamity the Fell from the Sky,' or something along those lines.

This is a difficult topic to discuss since both Sephiroth and Jenova have some form of control. Sephiroth has the stronger will and can control the awesome power of Jenova. Also, Jenova is half of what Sephiroth is so it has some control over him as well. All depends on your viewpoint really.
To me, Jenova was the villain of the story and Sephiroth was the villain of the main character, Cloud.
