Vidali:: Well...currently he's a blue-flamed lanturn... but...his flame rarely wavers...a hint as to his personality, perhaps?

Em aka. Sephiros Immortal::
Age:: 18
Occupation:: College student - Major in Graphics Design.
Sexuality:: Bi
Physical Description:: Long, somewhat wavy light brown hair and blue eyes that often change their color depending on what she wears.
A slightly spunky (and often termed 'cute') individual...she lives in a house with her various muses (who may or may not appear in this journal XD) and now a newly acquired lanturn...which she has named Vidali for reasons known to only a few.

Em was sitting in her customary chair at the table, flipping through a book late one night...she had finals the next day and wasn't particularly looking forward to them either, especially since she'd been a wee bit negligent in the completion of her lessons...which promised a truckload of catch-up work the next day.
Her only companion was the blue-flamed lanturn that sat, flame steadily giving a peaceful light, not a few inches from her elbow, propped upon the table-top.
"Mmm...y'know, Vidali..." (for she had named the lanturn, being almost positive that it was male...at least she hoped it was male, despite the fact he was pastel) "Sometimes I wish I could be you...without a care in the world." She turned weary blue eyes on the small metallic casing.
Vidali didn't even flicker.
She rolled her eyes, "Sometime I wonder if you're even listening...it'll be nice when I can get some sort of response." The teenage girl petted the top of the lanturn affectionately. She already looked upon it as her 'child' of sorts, though her elven companion Farlest had snickered the first time he caught her talking to it. At which point Vidali had flickered indignantly, which was answer enough for Em.
She took him everywhere with her, which had inspired some rather odd comments from her friends.
With a sigh she reluctantly turned her attention back to the matter at hand...study...
An hour later she flopped facedown on her book, "Ugh...I don't suppose you know how to properly manipulate the Photoshop slice tool do you?" Was the somewhat frustrated and muffled query.
Vidali wavered slightly in her direction.
Em cocked an eyebrow at him, raising her head to peer at him again, "I know you can't, smartie..." Putting her nose next to the flame she stuck out her tongue playfully.
The flame did all but touch the offending body part.
She drew back a little, wrinkling her nose, "Restrain yourself here, sweets, I don't think you'd taste so good." Casting a glance at the clock she muttered irritably under her breath. 2:33 AM.
"This can wait till morning, kiddo." All but slamming the book shut (as much as one can slam a paperback, no matter how thick), she grabbed the ring at the top of Vidali's lanturn. Padding off to bed, she took only a quick moment to wash her face and give her teeth a quick, needed brushing. So tired and mentally exhausted was she that she didn't bother with pajamas.
Setting the lanturn carefully on the tile floor beside the bed, and shutting the door to make sure that her bouncy Golden Retriever didn't come in and inadvertently knock Vidali over with her exuberant tail-wagging, Em flopped into bed, pulling the covers over herself lazily.
"Mmm...Night, Vidali..." Was the half-asleep murmur, before she clicked the lamp off, and the only light in the room was the little lanturn's ethereal blue glow.

Em was almost in tears...her finals had gone well, but her overall grade in her graphics courses (though the classes themselves had been simple and even bored her), was not at all promising.
She was holding her lanturn to her chest as though he wasn't just a flame in a metal casing, but a friend, child, comforter, and confidante. She needed all the support she could get right now.
"Vidali..." She began quietly, "you don't think I'm a failure do you? I...I knew all that stuff...just...so much work...I know it's my fault and I procrastinated, but...there was so much I had done!" Biting her lip, the teenage girl trudged into the house. "Life sucks..."
The lanturn, the only listener to her self-condemning pity party, flared just a bit, as though hinting.
She smiled despite herself, "Yeah, I know, sweets...you're not going to judge me, are you?" Running a hand through hair that was starting to be a bit in need of a good shower, she shuddered, "Bleh...well...I can make up those grades next semester...it isn't as though I totally flunked." Em swallowed, "I hope..."
There was still grades that had to come back in two days.
She looked at Vidali contemplatively for a good long while. "Hmm..." A slow grin curved the edges of her lips upwards. "C'mon kiddo, let's go to the park for a while. I need to get away from the computer for once...and we can talk-" There was a sheepish giggle, "Or rather, I can...don't worry, you'll get your chance to debate me someday."
Vidali's soul-fire wiggled...apparently liking the idea.
"Well, then park it is..."

Em was flopped tiredly on the couch today...it was about 5 in the afternoon and she'd been sleeping since she'd gotten home from a class at one. Yes...she was tired...she'd been somewhat sleep-deprived as of late. All right...more than that...averaging about 3 hours a night for the past week and a half...suicidal you say? Perhaps.
Next to her on the floor was a lanturn....flame steadfast and unwavering...typical Vidali there.
She patted the top of the metal casing, fingers stroking it lazily as she lounged...not wanting to budge as it was far too comfortable where she was. "Mmmph...I'm killing myself with this maymester..." She groaned, knowing that Vidali was the only one to hear her. "I'm just hoping to pass the class...bloody math...I should shoot the fellow who invented nonlinear equations...and then got the absolutely brilliant idea to stick radicals and fractional exponents in 'em..."
Vidali just barely wavered in his version of a nod. Even he was starting to think that a true form would come in handy.
She was good at paying attention to him, though. "Well...won't do me any good anyway...I'll probably never use a logarithim in real life...a graphics designer doesn't usually...all I really need is simple algebraic forms and all that good...erm...stuff..." Yes...she did just refrain from using a dirty word in Vidali's presence...you weren't imagining it.
"Nnn...I should probably alert the rest of the world I haven't passed out and expired yet shouldn't I?"
A flicker of agreement.
With a soft oof, she dragged herself off the couch and snagged Vidali...traipsing over to the computer where she would promptly tell all her friends that she 'had not expired' as it were.
Being a student keeps one terribly busy.
