It depends on what you do. This site defines the difference pretty well.... http://paganwiccan.about.com/cs/whatiswicca/a/wiccanwitch.htmIt is also a very good site if you are studying different religions. But I agree with -- Quote: the word witch creates a hoocus-pocus image so i use Wiccan. Because when you say witch, people think "Abera Kedabera! *Poof* Hey, look! Theres a bunny in here! Was he there the whole time?"

I prefer Wiccan, because.. I am. And because, like said before, Witch creates the image that your curse people, and think you can fly.

Samarei I prefer Wiccan, because.. I am. And because, like said before, Witch creates the image that your curse people, and think you can fly. I use both but I think I prefer wiccan for the said reasons above. I also like to use witch so people will as me about what I mean and I can explain it. The less people are ignorant of the facts the better.

Sickly Psycho Samarei I prefer Wiccan, because.. I am. And because, like said before, Witch creates the image that your curse people, and think you can fly. I use both but I think I prefer wiccan for the said reasons above. I also like to use witch so people will as me about what I mean and I can explain it. The less people are ignorant of the facts the better. That's true. I've done that before ( saying witch ), so that people will ask you what you mean, and you can explain it to them. Instead of saying wiccan persay, and having them think you are a devil worshipper. ninja

I PREFER the term wiccan, but sometimes use the term witch.
Witch just makes one to many people think about Sabrina, flying on brooms, casting spells, The Wizard of Oz, old ladies with warts on their nose, etc..
But, I use the term witch to describe things such as the Salem Witch Trials. *Mostly because that's what everyone calls it*. Or the term "Solitary Witch", etc..
But like I said, I rarely use the term witch. It just sets off the whole "hocus-pocus-cackling-green-old-lady" thing that's not very flattering to me or many other people *wiccan or not*.
Edit: The term witch also frightens many people who aren't wiccans. They often think of satanism, evil, etc. when hearing the word "witch". We all know that we're not evil, or satanists for that matter. But with that being said, it leads to many people thinking the wrong idea about Wiccanism *Which TOO many people already do*. I just pretty much think that the term witch often sets off the more ignorant side of people.

witches use magic.
Wiccans ar the threads they weave.
There is a difference between them they are not the same thing. One delves into the art as it was meant the others are wiccan. Like I said Wicca was only coined a short while ago it is a new age thing that was brought about to seperate those who were and those who were not wanting to be coined under the titles that were being thrown around in the late 80's and 90's. Back when there was a few killings based off the guy who said it was dungeons and dragons and paganism.
