Jove's parents had always had high hopes for him, in such they had kept him secluded from the world around himself. Not allowing for him to experience anything truely for himself throughout his life. His very name, comes from the Greek God Jupiter, using the english derivative. Jupiter was thought to have the same standings as Zeus himself, the full name being Jupiter Optimus Maximus which means Jupiter Best, or Greatest. Jove's parents felt that he had his own capabilities and he could be the best and always the best. In thinking this way, and keeping him to themselves in a sense, they were his downfall for the most part in his life.
A life without contact from the outside, without being allowed to go outside without a parent's fear of a scrape or a scratch, caused alot of sitting around for Jove, and in the end, he became mildly obese. His parents had never noticed, and all they saw was the powerful man, their boy could become. They raised him to be naive to anything, evne his weight. At one point he had become so heavy, he had a hard time to pull himself from bed, and rails had to be installed in most rooms, so he could rest, had he became tired.
His crushing blow came, one day when he was to answer the door for the mailman, bringing a package that needed a signature. His parents had never allowed him to answer the door, and they were not home. Jove, was curious, and answered. The mailman, peering at this boy, not knowing that the Landrey's had a son, he scoffed lightly, and muttered under his breath "I wouldn't have been proud of that either." A flush had come to his face, when he realized Jove had heard him.
Jove being the naive boy he was, didn't know what he was talking about and signed for the package, a soft smile upon his face as he turned and closed the door. It only hit him, when he passed the hallway mirror, that the mailman was talking about him. Tilting his head at the image he saw, he didn't even realize that it were him looking back at himself.
When his parents came home, he had to question them, and he did.
"Mother, why am I like this?" He asked in his soft voice. His mother, an anxious expression on her face, merely replied.
"Like what dear? You are perfect the way you are."
"That is not what the mailman said." Jove, rarely frowned, but at this point he did. "I am fat, I could see it in the mirror. I must strive to loose this weight." He had done some studying on the internet while his parents were out.
His mother became frantic in her gestures. "No, you may hurt yourself! You can't!"
"I have to!" Jove cried, and told her of all the risks that could come with this. Afterwards, he left a stunned mother and went to his room, to look up more information on what he could do to slim down.
Within his investigations an ad popped up. It was advertizing someone in search of subjects to test a new weightloss drug. He printed off the ad and rushed to call the number. Included in the testing was an island vacation, all expenses paid. It was almost too good to be true, after getting the details he decided that it sounded like the perfect thing for him. Perhaps he could learn some things about life, while he was there, and not feel so sheltered as his parents had made him feel.
Both his mother and father pleaded him, upon the day he were to leave, and he shook his head, and told them it was for the better, he needed to be healthy, and this was not healthy. His mother clung to him, his father tried to reprimand him. Jove had his mind set, and there was no changing it...
