((This roleplay is for me and Tahja, so there! xD Oh, I used terrible grammar in that sentence.))

The little cub was in as good of a mood as ever. Today had been nicely uneventful. There were no quarrels between himself and his family. There hadn't even been any quarrels with the females he tried to flirt with. They just shook their head and walked away, leaving him be. But, that was fine. As long as they weren't schooling him then he was fine. They could hate him as much as they liked, he didn't really much care. He had his own female friends, like Chinara and Mosi.

He hadn't recently been hanging around with Chinara, so Mosi was his new best friend. She was nice and very loyal to their friendship. There was nothing better than having someone around you could rely on. It was nice to have someone by your side, and oh, she was perfect, Mosi.

The cub smiled goofily to himself, trotting along through the tall grass. You could barely see his head poking up over the blades of grass they were so tall, and at times he would jump up, trying to spot where exactly he was. Well, this was probably near the meerkat mounds... seeing as there were some about. But there were large holes in the ground in some places, so he figured that there had to be some really large meerkats. "Nasty buggers always chirp and hide when I'm around," he grumbled.

Mosi was too much enjoying this new found freedom to mourn too much the loss of time with the family. She loved them dearly, but on days like today when there wasn't anything to do at home she felt the urge to get out and explore a little more. She loved this place, even if it did have bullies like Bari around.

She was already at the holes, at that moment, inspecting them curiously. She circled them and sniffed at them, pawing around inside, completely unaware that she might just be disturbing someone or something. She didn't even catch the signs of the resident making it's way towards that opening underground, as she heard Ezeoha's muttering and quickly withdrew to stand straight.

"Ezeoha! Is that you?" She called out, trying to rise up on her hind paws to have a better look over the grass. He'd quickly come to be her favorite adventure buddy, her best friend. That didn't mean her brother didn't have a special place too but, he was her brother, it couldn't get much closer than that, right?

Ezeoha stopped, hearing his name. The cub strained his ears, trying to make sure that he was not hearing things. Oh! But he couldn't be hearing things. That voice sounded so much like Mosi! Ezeoha leaned back onto his hind legs, head poking above the grass. It was easy to see her black form amongst all this green and gold. He may blend in more, but Mosi stuck out beautifully against the colors of the plains.

"MOSI!"

He fell back down to his four legs, beginning to run straight towards the other cub. It didn't take him long to reach her, and he was already circling around her, pouncing back and forth, very eager for some play. Mosi was the funnest cub he had ever hung around with, and romping with her every once in awhile was funner than spending a whole day exploring.

"Whatcha doin' here? Inspecting the holes?" The cub grinned goofily at her, extending his front leg to swap playfully at her ears. It was obvious that he was in an amiable mood, ready to have a much better day already then the good one he was having at the moment.

Who wouldn't be in a good mood, hearing someone so happy to see you? Naturally a great big smile came to her maw as she fell forward onto her front paws and right into a lope, meeting Ezeoha halfway and following his movements as he circled. As he batted at her ears Mosi ducked forward, falling into a roll to end up on her back, pawing up at Eze's necklace and face... then turning over again into a crouch, as if to pounce. She kept grinning the entire time.

"Yeah, they're way bigger than the Meerkat holes, and they smell kind of funny! I was kind of bored, but now that you're here maybe we can have some fun!"

Ezeoha was ecstatic now that Mosi had shown that she wanted to play. She batted at his face and his necklace, and he laughed. "Don't ruin my pretty necklace!" He exclaimed, jumping back away from her to protect his treasured necklace, and his face. Now why would he want the beautiful face that he had to be marred and scarred?

"Really? I haven't seen any other animals that dig holes other than meerkats." Now his curiosity was piqued. The cub ran towards the whole she had been inspecting, sniffing at the enterance and pawing at the dirt. "It's an ucky smell, I say!" He exclaimed, wrinkling his nose as he brought his face away from the hole. He gave Mosi a look that clearly stated: How can you stand that smell?

Mosi would've answered, but that's when a sharp growl sounded, followed by an angry yipping sound. The owner of the hole was home, and very pissed off.

Nairobi, a dusty brown ratel with black freckles and white bands across her legs and muzzle, emerged glaring sharply at the two young cubs. Damn lions were always pushing their way around! She had ENOUGH of it!

Mosi stared at the creature in surprise, she'd never seen something so funky looking before! It had short, stubby legs, and beady small eyes, and a somewhat pointed nose, and, augh! It looked really grumpy, even more than her father!

"Eze...?" She questioned, ears going flat to her head.

Nairobi growled again and barreled forward towards the two.

"Getawayfrommyhole!!!"

There was a growl coming out of the den, and his eyes widened at the sight of such a short and stocky creature. It growled again, and then ... charged! Ezeoha cried out in surprise, falling backwards and scrambling to get away from the obviously angry creature.

"Leave me alone!" He whined, running behind Mosi, seeking from the younger cub some protection. Mosi could be braver then him in a time like this. It was some scary new creature coming to take a bite out of his nose, and he rather did like his nose.

Mosi's reaction was purely instinctive and defensive at best. As Ezeoha disappeared to hide behind her Mosi's black fur puffed up and bristled, her fangs baring and claws unsheathing. Her back arched as she stood her ground, ears went flat and her eyes narrowed, and the most angry hiss imaginable came forth out of her mouth.

Nairobi stumbled in her step, thinking twice for a moment before deciding she was too pissed to care. This little brat wasn't as big as she was trying to make herself look anyway! Nairobi snarled and attacked again, but she had no claws, just her teeth, and she wasn't quite as agile as the little felines. She didn't have enough time to dodge the score of Mosi's claws ripping across her face.

"Goaway!! No one wants in your stupid hole!"

The Ratel cried out in annoyance, her face burning with fresh wounds. Backing away again, she growled, circling around. Mosi followed every move she made, glaring and making sure to keep her body lower to the ground so that Nairobi would have to face her jaws first if she wanted to get to any part of Mosi or Ezeoha.

Ezeoha was horrified as Mosi took the stand. He saw her fur bristle up, and stuck between shock and fear he found himself unable to move, and only able to stare stupidly ahead as the ratel charged at his friend. Mosi was up to the challenge, and took a few good swipes at the creature, causing it to back away.

He was shocked that Mosi could stand up to such a fearsome opponent when all he could do was hide behind her. His mind began to turn, and he came out of his shock to stand beside his friend and help in the battle. His fur stood bristled up, and he bared his tiny teeth, as well as his claws. "Getter gone!" He hissed, leaning forward slightly as if trying to get the purpose across: If the ratel wanted trouble, she'd get it.

Nairobi glared and tried a few more half-charges, but could never get close enough to take a bite at them without the threat of claws or teeth piercing her skin. Finally the Ratel offered one last angry hissing noise and disappeared back into her burrow.

Mosi didn't relax just yet, even though she'd been aware of Ezeoha coming to her aide. Her little heart was pounding inside her chest and she didn't feel like chancing the Ratel's return. She looked to Ezeoha.

"Let's get out of here," She said shakily, trying hard to disguise how unnerved she really was.

Ezeoha stood his ground, though he thought he felt his legs tremble every time the ratel did some of her half-charges. He was sure the creature would snap his leg in two, and he'd be left limping home, and then die. But, the thing gave up, hissing at them and retreating back into its burrow.

He turned his gaze to Mosi, and now his legs were truly trembling. "Yeah... g-good idea," he muttered, and nudged her shoulder lightly with his head, urging the female cub to join him in fleeing before that nasty creature came back. This was an experience he'd rather forget, and very soon if the gods were good to him. They had practically tangled with death, and weren't even juveniles yet!

Mosi didn't need any further encouragement, she followed Ezeoha as they made their escape back into the familiar territory of the pridelands.

As they got a safe distance away Mosi peered back the way they'd come, tail and head kept ducked down. She still hadn't calmed, though her fur was back to normal.

"That was.... different..."

Ezeoha was just as nervous as his friend, and while they ran away from the burrow he kept looking back to make sure the ratel was not in pursuit of them. His nerves seemed to refuse to die down even when the burrow was out of sight, and they were back to where he'd consider a 'safe zone'.

The cub turned his attention to Mosi, his ears pinned back against his skull and his eyes wide with distress. "Very different, let's not go digging around in holes again... or tell our parents." The little cub whined softly, afraid of what his mother would say if she caught word of this incident. She'd probably skin him alive, and then put his skin back on after realizing what she had done to her cub.

Oh NO. The parents couldn't find out about this! Nukta might yell her ears off, while Ada... well, Ada might not care so much as long as they came back unharmed. Mosi shook her head to express this, eyes wide.

"No! Never!"

Her legs finally gave out, Mosi flopping onto her haunches and curling her tail about her hind paws. She could feel her frame wracked with little shudders as the adrenaline began to pass, and she felt really worn out for the moment. Such a small body wasn't meant for such stress.

Ezeoha was glad that she could agree to him on this subject. Well, he had expected that she would. Why would they want their parents to know about what had happened? Their parents could get them grounded or make sure that they never saw each other again, and that was something too dreadful to think about anymore.

The young cub plopped down on the ground, a heavy sigh escaping through his lips. He stared at Mosi, and then cautiously back to make sure they were still alone. "At least we're alright," he murmured to himself.
