((Between FC's lion Ta'ziyan and my Baridi'Akali))
Night had quickly apporached the pridelands. Slowly moving from the waterhole towards the borders of the roguelands was a small cub, mocha in pelt. If lions had the ability to well up in tears, the little female would be doing so right now. She wasn't one to get along with others, it was shown by the way she acted; however, this wasn't Bari's fault. She was just...well Bari.
Stopping at a rock, the young cub jumped ontop of it, peering into the southlands. She always called those she believed weren't of pridal bloods rogues secretly wishing she was of that as well. Pridelife sucked. Always being told what to do, or when to do it! Who needed that? Bari was old enough, she thought, to go out on her own. Growling, she laid upon the rock, curling her tail around her small limbs.
Padding back into the Pridelands, Ta had spent the day returning to his old den he had occupied as a cub, if you could call it that. The place had been small, run down, and filled with the shadows of his past that haunted him all day. A shiver running up his spine just at the thought, he glanced out towards the sunset before it fell past the horizon, the light fading away. Suddenly, he wasn't an adult anymore, but the scared copper cub that had just been attacked by another of his kind, a cub who was younger than him yet held more strength than Ta could ever possess.
Stilling, he closed his eye and took in stuttered breaths, shaking his large mane as he sat down and pawed at his now healed ear. It was bleeding again, the pain spreading across his body as he was caught in the corner with no where to run. This time, though the images were false, the pain was there and there would be no adult lioness to help him now. Eyes snapping open, he saw the scene falter and let out a mighty roar, one he had never sounded in his life. His mind pushing away the memories, he just stood there panting as he tried to collect himself. Not once did he notice the cub that was on the rocks not so far away.
Bari had thought nothing of the scent that had faintly entered the air. It was only until a loud roar erupted through the almost silent dusk, that caused the female to extend her claws, and jump behind the rock. Whoever it was would get a piece of her mind! ...Maybe... Two small mocha ears perked up from behind the rock, followed by a small fuzzball's head. Teal blue eyes settled on that of an adult lion not to far away. Wrinkling her nose, Bari snorted. Another rogue in the pridelands? Did this pride like to be overrun with them or something? She growled, glaring as she moved past the rock and up to Ta.
If she was bigger, she might have looked more intimdating, however being such a small form, she just looked cute. If Ta realized it, the markings around her eyes were those the same of the ones on the cub that had attacked him those many months ago.
Turning so suddenly that his head spin, Ta'Ziyan saw the shadow come to life, the lioness not really appearing as one through his haunted eyes. The dark debths shadowing over with a glaze, he let out a growl in warning, this time not playing.
"Must you always follow me, I have finally become happy in these lands, yet you always plague my mind, my dreams! Leave me alone!" The last sentence was another roar, his whole body shaking with fear as all he wanted was to be back in his den and waiting for Kami to lighten his day. Falling to his belly, he covered his eyes with his lightened paws and tried to control himself. His nightmares were coming to life, and if he was not careful, he could hurt someone in his state.
"I didn't follow you," Bari snarled. "If anything, you followed me, seeing how I was here first!" She snarled, tail thrashing behind her. "You don't belong in these lands, do you? You're a rogue." She hissed, back to the rogue comments again she was. "Rogues are what taint this land. Be gone, or else I will get the King." She growled, sounding pathetic compared to Ta's roar. Bari wasn't fearless, by all means. However, when she wanted someone to go, she would stick it to them until either they made her angry enough to leave, or they went on their own free will. Being small, she hadn't the strength to actually force the older male out.
"What? Scared Copper." Doesn't that line sound familar? That's what he reminded her off. A flash of copper just like the sun, marking his skin. An adult lion, scared of a measley child! Hah.
Suddenly everything in his body stilled, as his whole form stopped the shaking as well as breathing. The line had sent a chill deeper than any nightmare could have, and as he slowly stood, he could only stare into thoes eyes. Color changing, he saw the same one as before, the same voice and body, everything screamed that night months ago, the one he was never to forget.
"I am...not a rogue." The words were forced out as his claws slowly extended, "...If you faced what I had, you would be scared too, runt." It was almost as if he was facing his past once more, and this time he was fighting back, the nightmares and dissappearence of his best friend building up a rage and hopelessness that sent him over the edge.
Yet, as he raised his paw ready to strike, he simply walked right past her, tail ridged as he tried to catch his breath, "This is all a dream...there are no shadows...I will be back in the den and Kami will ask to play tag...it is all a dream..." He whispered over and over, sounding like a cub lost in the shadows of roguedom, no where to go and no family to be protected by.
Bari backed up as claws were extended. She narrowed her eyes greatly. If this one took one swing at her, he'd be gone. Not just form this land, but from this earth. "You sure look like a rogue to me," She spat, eyeing the adult male. "Hmph. I doubt that, seeing as you seemed to have coward before me, a mere cub." She smirked, identical to Denahi's. "This is no dream," She commented, watching as he walked past her. Wait! No one just walked away from her! She hissed, "Rogue territory is the otherway!" She snarled, loping after the taller form, claws extended. "Get out!"
He looked coldly over his shoulder at the shadow of his past, before he rolled his eyes and moved on. He could have calmly held her away from him and explained things, but he would suffer from a few scratches he did not want to have.
"If you are so confident, than you can come with me to speak with the king. For I have proof enough of being a part of this pride. And if you wish for second word, than ask Princess Kamilika herself, for she was the one who invited me when I was just larger than you, cub." It was cold and lacking any emotion, sounding tired of the whole conversation. He was hurting mentally, and just wanted to fall asleep and never have to face another day of nightmares again.
"You're going to go to the king this time of night? How rude!" She said, moving quickly to get in front of him. "Princess...Kamilika?" Little did Bari know that Kami was related to her. After all, she usually only spent time in the den with her mother, or trying to leave the den. Heck, she even though Uumi as just someone else, and not her uncle! For once dropping her narrowed gaze, she looked thoughtful up to the older lion. "Is...she related to Rehani?" So you live in the pridelands, and no about nothing of your history. That's great, isn't it? Bari's eyes narrowed again.
"A princess doesn't have supreme say. I bet there is no princess...whatever here you liar!" She hissed, ears flattening against her head.
He sent her a warm smile, almost enjoying how much she was proving herself wrong. Though that was not as mean as it sounded in his case. He actually found it funny because it showed that not everything was perfect, and than he could beat the nightmare by finding this creature was not as wise as she made it. It was than it clicked. She was a female, when Denahi was clearly a male. Letting out a deep chuckle, he set down and settled his face on his paws, a grin spreading across his maw.
"She is realted to Rehani...actually, Kami always spoke of how she envied her sister. While Kami got the golden pelt from her father, I heard that Rehani got her ivory pelt from her mother, and has grown into an elegant lioness if there was any in these lands. Though I personally love Kami's pelt, it matches her lighthearted personality, the color shining just like Kami herself."
Caught in memories of all the times Kami would put herself down, he didn't understand why, but than her last comment caught his attention, "There are three princesses, and two princes. All live in these lands and have say enough to welcome rogues...they even say most of the royalty has mated with thoes who are not even pridelanders..." The grin spread at the idea, showing even he could have a chance with Kami, if there was even one left.

"Is she? Hmph." Bari sighed, ears flipping forward before drooping. She didn't want to argue anymore. This was the reason she didn't have friends with any of the cublings of the pridelands. "Sounds like my mum." She said quietly, looking at the ground before casting the blue gaze to the sky. "And this Kami person sounds a lot like my brother. He's golden in color, like my brother is sort of honey-ey." She told the male, nodding.
"I only know my mum. Princess Rehani. No one else comes to visit her..." She said. So it was only her knowledge she didn't know about her aunt's and uncles, right?

He seemed to calm down completly as the girl showed through the images of his dreams. No longer did he see Denahi, but Bari was there, the innocent cub who appeared to put up strong walls to hide the one she was revealing to him. Ear flickering as the last bout of pain seemed to fade, he nodded to her at the comment about her mother.
"Kami has always been alone, her siblings don't visit her at all, we only see eachother." It seemed weird, but she had the way of pulling it out of him, as if he was making up with Denahi through his daughter. Though he had no idea Bari was related to that monster of a lion (in his opinion), he still had to deal with the likeness she held.
"What is your name?" He asked suddenly, eyes just gazing down to where she was, his large form giving him enough hight to do so.

"Perhaps you can take me to meet this...Kami?" the cub asked. "I don't think my mum will, seeing as she is to into waiting for my 'da' to return home. To me, I don't have a father." She snorted, sitting. Her ears perked up at the question about her name. "Bari...Baridi'akali." She said. "Daughter of Rehani, granddaughter of Mufasa and Sarabi." The young lioness always mentioned her bloodlines whenever she introduced herself. She was quite proud to have royal blood flowing through her veins, honestly.
"Who're you?"

He just nodded slowly as she spoke, his eyes looking off to the distance as he thought it over. Kami would love to meet the small cubling that was her neice, he was sure Kami hadn't any idea of what became of Rehani.
"Ta'Ziyan...I guess you could call me the royal protector of the heir to the pridelander thrown." He let a lighthearted laugh from that and shifted again, before standing, "But than again, I am nothing but a rogue." Shaking the dirt from his mane, he stretched his back before he felt the crack, and looked down to her. Than, something dawned on him.
"You shouldn't be out this far, you are only a cub..."

Bari stretched. "Ahah! So I was right. You were a rogue." She made an indignant snort, prancing about past Ta. "I knew it, I knew it!" And she was quite proud of that it seemed. "Ta'ziyan? That's a funny name." The mocha female giggled. "Why are you the 'royal' protector of the heir? Like her or something?" She snorted. Love.....was an icky thing.
At his last comment, her ears flicked downwards. "Who cares if I am out here." She said, looking at the ground as she moved away from Ta slightly. "I would rather live out there, then here anyways." She snorted.

"No," He said shortly, "You wouldn't." That statement was filled with such haunting emotion, that he all but told her of the horrors of his past, when he was no older than she. Shaking his mane once more, he sighed and stood, "Come on, we can talk as we head back." There was no room for agumention, yet it was more of an offer than any.
"Kami and I are close friends, like siblings..." He would never speak of Kami's other brother, the one who was her other half. It was not his right at all, "And yes, I am a rogue...one that was welcomed to this pride and accepted like any full blooded Pridelander here..."

Bari shook her head. "No...I don't wanna go." She said quietly, looking down at her paws. "No one wants me there." She whispered. "The others made if quite clear of that." By others, she referred to the cubs she had met earlier in the day, as well as her brother who had been amongst them. The lioness cub sat fully on the ground, tossing her head up defiantly to add on to the fact that she wouldn't go back.
"Hmph. Friends?" She said, rolling her eyes. It was like she was saying 'who needed friends.' "My gramma and granpa accept way to many here," she scoffed lightly, flicking her tail.

He said nothing, simply padding away. It was up to her weather she would wish to follow or stay out in the silence that was the southlands. Though it could be beautiful, that beauty was nothing compared to the harshness it held. It was like a warm paw, gripping gently before it crushed what was within.
"Suit yourself." He simply called over his shoulder, not really keen on badmouthing the King or Queen.

As Ta padded off, the smaller cub's ears perked forward, catching the remaining words of the copper male. Her ears drooped, watching the adult move away from her. No anger had swelled up in her this time, like it had a few moments ago. Instead, only a feeling of sadness. She sighed, turning away from the fleeing form and moving back to that rock she had found. Instead of jumping on it, she looked around, curling against it.
Once again she found herself feeling the same way she had when she first was found here.
...Alone.
