If they didn't already BELEIVE alot they wouldn't join THIS guild...it's called a learning center implying that we already KNOW and want to LEARN MORE! Skeptics aren't going to join...Sorry to say so but I'm pretty sure I am right...
Not neccesarily. In the overwhelming majority of cases there are scientific or psychological explanations for experiences that are every bit as valid and adequate as paranormal explanations. I've ever acknowledged this, and always challenge people to come up with alternative explanations before believing something paranormal. Where belief in something paranormal has harmful consequences, I am adamately against using paranormal explanations.
Case in point... I've known someone who believed that their dreams were sapping them of energy and that the dreams were the cause of their fatigue and misery. However, if you took one look at this person's lifestyle, it was very apparent that their poor eating habits, lack of exercise, and less-than-ideal workplace were more than likely the true causes of this person's problems.
In short, before you make claims of paranormal phenomena, you'd better be able to phase out all other extraneous variables. I've yet to see a case where this has been done to its full extent. This doesn't mean I wholely discount the paranormal explanation, but as a scientist I'm skeptical of just about everything, science included. Heh.
