I wasn't aware that not heeding the basic rules of English grammar was a prerequisite for being a hardcore gamer. Silly me, I thought it was the love of games that made you a gamer. I guess I'll forget all I've learned in my years and years of schooling and start talking like I have no idea how to spell so that I can fit into your mold of what a gamer should be.

Disliking bad grammar does not disqualify you from being a gamer. Your analogy is terribly flawed as well. Gamers can read "gamer"-speak, but it's a hassle to do so, or for those of us who think it is a pity to destroy the English language out of pure laziness, it's a sad sight and something we would rather not deal with.

You can type however you wish; I know it is pointless to ask people to avoid "gamer"-speak. However, don't act as if you are a better gamer than those who do not use your preferred form of writing.

Thank you! I now know I'm not the only grammar/spelling nazi. It is like hitting your head against a wall. I've always thought that as long as your polite, perfect grammar isn't absolutely necessary though one should make an effort! Oh well, we must band together and fight the stupidity! wink

I know! like the occassional 'lol''s and 'rofl''s and 'brb''s arn't that bad, but when you got posts made of 'u''s and 'r''s and 'OMFFAG HE IS SOOO HOT AND U BETTRE STAY AAWY BECAUSE HE IS MIEN HAHAHAHAHA!!!!1!111!!!!!!', it's just plain annoying. I mean, I make typos on a regular basis and almost all my posts have atleast one typo in them, but I mean if it's accidental that's different.

Why should the way you type determine if you are a "true" gamer. Being a gamer had nothing to do with the way to type. We are in this guild to sahre a common interest, not to start up fights when someone makes a polite request.
