Where she lay was an easy target for other animals, but at the moment the young, light-furred lioness didn't really care. She lay on top of a large rock just a few leaps from the thorn bush she now called home. The afternoon sun shown brightly over the Pridelands and warmed the white parts of her coat just as swiftly as it warmed the darker parts.
It was a lazy afternoon, indeed. Though she wasn't known to do too many outrageous things, she wasn't even fazed when a bright blue butterfly landed on the tip of her ear. Any other day, she probably would have chased it, if no one was watching. But for the moment she was just happy to let the flightly insect sit there.

The small cub wandered down a strange path that she had never travled before. The whole land was still new to her, and she still didn't now where everything was, or what belonged to who. She hoped this was unclamed land, and that no other being enhabited it that would pose a threat to her. For she was still young, and hadn't been tought the ways of fighting, or how to defend herself.

Amani allowed her tail to flip back and forth to bat away a fly that had decided to buzz near. With the sound, the butterfly fluttered off of her ear and landed on the other. She closed her eyes against the sun's rays for a moment before opening them again to scan the plains. A soft breeze had blown up to weave through the grasses.

She found herself in the Pridelands. Great, she had only meant to stay on the border, but she had still wandered into them. She hoped Kiji had made it home okay, without getting into trouble. It would have been extreme trouble for her if she had been caught by the royal lions' guardians.
She sighed. How had she ended up here? "Because I was lost in thought, that's why," she muttered to herself angrily. Of all the stupid things she could have done! Sighing again, she moved on, looking around to see if she could find anyone familiar or someone new to make friends with.

Amani's tail continued to flip back and forth as she heard mutterings from striaght ahead of her and slightly to the right. She raised her head slightly at the sound, disturbing the resting butterfly. The insect lazily opened and closed its wings as the lioness it was resting on looked in the direction of the sounds.
I wonder who that could be... Amani thought before laying her head back down on her paws, her eyes almost completely closing.

Safura looked up to see a familiar looking female. "A... Amani?" she asked, surprised. How did the lioness end up here? Did she wander here too? "What're you doing here?"
She blinked as she stared at the lioness. She was... so... beauitful. Jealousy and envy ran around in circles in Safura's chest, but she locked them up and put them away to contemplate for another day.
She continued to stare at the female. She was acting... lazy... oddly enough. "Do you remember me, Amani?" she whispered, and approached the blue-striped female slowly.

Amani looked down at the other female and smiled a little. She remembered, all right.
"You were that one cub who kept being loud and scaring that little boy we met that one day, right? Safura, was it?" she asked. She sat up, causing the butterfly to become aggitated and take flight again, flying back to the original ear. Amani looked up at it and giggled a little. She then remembered the other question.
"I live here. Or there, to be more exact," she said, gesturing with her tail to the thorn patch.

Safura couldn't but feel insulted. "I didn't scare him! I hadn't meant to!" She glared at the blue-striped female, but then calmed down. It was pointless to get angry over past events.
"You live here? Lucky you," she murmured. She had wandered away again, Kor having gone to convince his mother and brother about adding her to their little family.
Why was she in the Pridelands again? Oh... right. She wanted to see Kiji. Prince Kijito. She missed him, even though she had only met him for the one day. Was it possible to fall in love at such a young age?
...Yes, it was.
And she believed it.

"We all scared him. He was worse than I am," Amani replied with a shrug. She stood and hopped down from the rock, the butterfly deciding to stay with her, despite all the motion. She looked over at the thorn patch and nodded.
"Yeah. 'Fani and Jani offered to let me stay with them, since I didn't have a place to stay. They're really nice," she told Safura and turned back to her. "So, what are you doing in the pridelands? Have you found someplace to live here, too?"

Jina looked around, her stomach growling slightly. She sat down, and placed a ebony paw over the small mass under her fur. "Aww man..." She said as she sighed, and looked around for something to eat. She stood up, and looked to the ground, pawing at it lightly with her large paw. "I wonder if there is anything out here to eat." She looked around. "It doesen't look like theres anyone in sight."

"Uh... no. I have a soon-to-be home, but it's not here. I'm here because... uh..." she faltered, a bright splash of crimson painting her silver-furred face.
"Um... nevermind why I'm here. I just sort of wandered into the lands. I didn't mean to, but I did." She hoped to the lion god that Amani didn't catch her blush, but she knew that with her light fur it could be seen clear as day.

Amani looked at her friend knowingly. "Did you meet a Pridelander?" she asked, her head tilted slightly to one side. Much as Safura probably hadn't wanted her to, she hadn't missed the flush that darkened her face fur. She probably had met a Pridelander, a male. She probably liked him too. That made Amani a little jealous, but she didn't know why.
Sure, she wouldn't mind meeting more lions, especially males, but she didn't want to meet too many. She was happy with the friends she had right now, she had figured, but something in her still made her feel sad that she only had four friends, all girls. She flicked her ears back at the conflicting emotions.
The lazy butterfly wasn't fazed by the young lioness' aggitation.

"Um... yes. Yes, I did." Safura flushed even more as she thought about just who she had met. "What about you? Since you live here, I'm surprised you didn't meet any Pridelanders. I've only met one... and that was when I was at the borders of the Pridelands."
She thought back to her meeting with Kiji, and had to fight hard to bring her already crimson blush down. Kiji had been so handsome... and kind... although he couldn't talk, she could understand mostly what he wanted to say. She had been timid at first, but he had turned out to be okay.
She knew that, as a rogue, she probably would get attacked if she stayed near any places that were commonly visited by the other Pridelanders, but out of most of the other prides, the Pridelanders were the kindest. Or so she hoped.

Amani allowed herself to smile over her friend's reaction to the question.
"Good for you," was all she could think to say, however. She wondered who this Pridelander was, that Safura would be so smitten with, but she wouldn't be rude enough to ask. She was fine not knowing.
"No, I haven't met any Pridelanders. Only 'Fani, Jani', and Chukari," she answered Safura's question with a shake of her head.

A small grass hopper jumped past her, and she rolled her eyes. "Aww come on.." She said, looking back to the insect with discust. "How am I suppost to eat that?" She asked herself. "I won't even be able to taste it.." She sighed. "There is no way I'm going to eat that." she said as she stood up, and started to walk deeper into the lands to find something decent to eat.
