Im watching Beauty and the Beast right now. And I just realized! Its like Phantom, but the way us fans whant it to turn out.
Gaston=Raoul. Hes like they way we want him. Abnoxious and rude, so christine dosn't like him.
Belle=Christine. A good singer, and falls in love with the beast.
Beast=Erik. Has anger problems. Is seen as ugly. But Belle loves him anyway.
The tea kettle and tea cup= They remind me of Meg and Mme.Giry whee
Phillipe (the hosrse)= I love phillipe. Just wanted to say that. Silly horsie! blaugh heart

OH! And the whole 'Mirror' and 'Rose' thing plays an important part in bolth musicals. There 2 different roses, and 2 different mirrors, but in a way hey are sort of the same.

lol, I was having the biggest arguement with my friend a few days ago. She insisted that the idea of Phantom of the opera had practically been copied from beauty of the beast (which left me outraged) but you reasoning works (hers dosn't! Huh!) you have some proper points here, except at the end of PotO Erik dosn't float in the air and his face magically mend, and Christine love him forever. That would have been one hell of a great alternative ending though.

He could be hmm....Belle's dad Firmin and Andre would, of course be Lumiere and Cogsworth. Carlotta would be that dresser or the feather duster
