Has anyone read the Firekeeper novels by Jane Lindskold?
"...it's a story of a king in need of an heir. All his relatives want the position. It's the story of Firekeeper, a brave young girl raised by wolves, who can communicate with animals, and who might be the heir he seeks..."
The books are:
Through Wolf's Eyes Wolf's Head, Wolf's Heart Dragon of Despair Wolf Captured Wolf Hunting (which comes out tomorrow. YAY!) and Wolf's Blood (which isn't out yet and will probably be the last of the series)
The ones I've read so far are really great and it has wonderful characters. I really recommend them.

I have read one through four. I have found them all to be imaginative, well written, inspiring, and full of memorable images. I think some of my favorite images were of the New Kelvinese with all their artistic ways.
A part of me rather agrees with Firekeeper most of the time. Humans are rather silly things with an odd arrangement of limbs. Though, her refusal to see anything human as "good" makes her seem much young than she is, at times.

She gets better in Wolf Hunting, which is an awesome book. I just finished it Saturday.

Better?! Wow. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Which won't be for a while. I always wait for paperback before reading a book. It's cheaper that way.

I forgot about Wolf's Blood! Now I've got to go get another library to send it to my library.

I found some of the books on the used shelf at a local bookshop that I patron. What books I don't have I have gotten from the library. I'm currently reading book two in the series, Wolf's Head, Wolf's Heart. It's like a female version of a Kipling tale, ne? I did like the first book. It kind of got to the point where I wanted it to end already so there was some skimming during scenes toward the end.
