Crawler Vessels
Somewhere in-between a tank and a battleship is the crawler vessel. With the empire's growth, large areas of snowy tundra separate major cities. The empire realised the folly in using traditional means to cross these great expanses and invested in a new mode of transport. What they came up with was the crawler, a heavily armoured ship sized vessel capable of crossing vast amounts of land in both summer and winter conditions. With these vessels troops could keep in top shape, be deceived to battles faster, and with new developments, have heavy artillery at their backs.
Transport type - Now that crawlers have been in play for a few years, many merchants have invested in their own crawlers. These small, lightly armed, and fast vehicles are able to rapidly deliver people or cargo. The main purpultion is tank treads, and combined with the weight, the movements often seem slow and heavy handed.
Due to the relative newness of the technology, there are quite a few of these modified from or to military use.
Icebreaker type - This advanced transport is larger and slightly better armed than the common transport. More like a mobile barracks capable of going anywhere, and deploying anything. Galley, armoury, cold storage, mechanic bay, and whatever would be needed to wage war all find a place on the icebreaker type.
The added advantage? The tank treads that propel it across land switch to propellers that can allow the icebreaker to make brief trips across water.
Destroyer type - The so called capital ships of crawler. The solid boat on treads design is forgone for a more insectoid look. Four stabilising legs carry the massive body in any direction possible. While that massive body supports dozens of weapon systems, as well as a bulbous "head" that serves as the helm.
Less than ten of these destructive giant machines are functional, but the ones that are ready are highly dangerous.
