The City State of Zema often remained one step ahead of Holdine through the use of magic and research into the rekceeya metal. The two often went hand in hand since rekceeya was a highly magic receptive material. It was no doubt that powerful devices could be created if the two fields of study combined.

That is the brief history behind the rekceeya weapon, also know as reaction or runic devices in other parts of gaia. Essentially, the blade is made in such a way that a person can concentrate power into it. For a layman, the extent of this power would be to cause the metal to glow or shake. For the trained and magically adept though, these are powerful weapons indeed. With a bit of focus they can focus their innate elemental alignment into the blade, for varied results. For example those aligned with the blaze can have flaming swords, while those in tune with ice can create frozen spear points on the end of a rekceeya staff.

While nowhere near as powerful as enchanted or ancient weapons, the rekceeya weapons are a head above plain steel. Some incidents of people with insane innate ability, or incredible training can use the metal to focus amazing feats.

With the empire taking Zema, rekceeya research went in a new direction. A new class of officer, green coat elites, were created to master these weapons. The empire was able to mass mine rekceeya, destroying parts of Zema in the process, and produce the weapons at an industrial level. Still, the amount of people who can properly use the weapons is low, and cases of stolen rekceeya shipments are on the rise. Still, you would have to have connections in the military or black market to get your hands on one. They don't exactly flow like water yet.
