Kamiss groaned and his eyes snapped open. He vaguely remembered trying to fight back against four kids--who were they again? He felt a sharp pain in his ribs. Right... Seth, Grail, 'the Bull', and Rant. They jumped him and hit him with a bat... he tried to fight but got his head slammed against the alley wall. Then... then he had woken up and crawled from the alley. He looked up and saw a field of laser fire fall... then he had blacked out again. Seeing the smoking, charred corpses around him, his stomach turned and wondered how he was still alive. Everything around him was in ruin. The pain from his ribs and head returned, and he blacked out to a very strange dream...

When he woke up he found a pack on his back, new cool black clothes, a giant sword at his waist, and a blaster pistol tied to his hip, with holster and all. He wondered what happened and remembered only one part of his dream... YOU ARE NOW A GUARDIAN

Kamiss stood up. He felt better. He drew his sword. He thought he'd toppel from its size and weight, but it felt... peculiar. It held no strain on his arm whatsoever. He swung it lightly. If was perfectly balanced-he had felt swords like this before, only heavy- and it felt like an extention of his arm. Kamiss had no doubts about what the-whatever it was-from his dream wanted him to do. He needed to save Aei'lanar.

as i stood up i noticed a strange guy swinging a sword while deep in thought and watches him more closely noticing that it seemed like he'd never seen the sword before.

A large skreeching sound came from above Kamiss as a field over laser fire tore through a girder. The metal fell, threatening to crush him. He rolled to the side, jumped into the air higher than any human possibly could, and slashed through the girder easily. Without a thought. He landed, and stumbled, clutching his forehead with his hand. "What?"

Lyra thrashed on the bed, certain that the high, keening noises she heard all about her were remnants of her feverish dreams. Slowly, she awakened, realizing with a jolt that she no longer felt as if she were burning. Sitting up in haste, she felt the brand new, clean linen sheets she lay in, and rubbed her eyes in disbelief.
Next to her bed, she found a pile of fresh clothes and a pack, as if waiting for her. With a wary look around, Lyra changed into the new clothes, somehow not surprised that they fit her perfectly. The strong, ash wood spear she found next to the pack was new to her, but a surge of knowing flew into her hand as she hefted it.
A shining silver stone set near the point brought courage to her as a small whisper seemed to crawl across her brain.

You are a Guardian...

Though unsure of the meaning of this, Lyra gathered her new items and strode from her room, ready to face the charred world she sensed awaited her.

Kamiss sat against the alley wall. He had already discovered some of his inhuman abilities. He knew he had to defeat the enemy. What he didn't know was how to do it all. He sighed and looked to the sky. He wished he had some directions. Kamiss looked away. As he thought, clouds started to cling together, forming into something.

The door was gone. Lyra had seen a little destruction done to the rest of the house, but whatever had happened to her world had done the most damage to the front of her home. The door and half of the front wall, demolished. Stepping from clean patch to clean patch, Lyra stepped past the rubble and out onto the street.
Decay festered everywhere. Corpses with no faces, with missing limbs, with a figure burned so far as to be unrecognizable. Choking back a cry of anguish, Lyra sank against a nearly intact, low garden fence.

A line. The formed a line. Started from over Kamiss' head. Ending... who knows where. But Kamiss knew without a doubt it lead to the invaders. Had he caused it, or had it been the almighty power that had come to Kamiss in his dream? Kamiss started walking.

Through her inner screaming, Lyra heard soft footsteps coming closer. Instantly on guard, she peered over her arms, which lay crossed on her knees. A young man, dressed for a journey, was slowly moving towards her, eyes on the sky. She followed his gaze, but she could see nothing out of the ordinary. When she let her eyes fall once more to the dusty ground, however, she saw rocks and pebbles rolling with a purpose. Soon, all the stones she could see were in a single, straight line, straight as her new spear, pointing in the direction the young man appeared to be walking.
A sign... I need to follow this mark. I will find what I need to do there...

Hauling herself up, but still wary, Lyra slid forward to meet the stranger.

Kamiss saw a girl out of the corner of his eye. She had clothes that looked at least somewhat similar, and a strange... spear? Well, I guess it's not any weirder than my... Kamiss paused. Sword... She must be a guardian! He spun to face her.

C-c-cold... Hel stood, shivering in the midst of a snowstorm. A blustery wind was blowing about her, snow flurries swirling about her body. She looked around, seeing an expanse of white in all directions; her one-room apartment seemed to have disappeared completely. The wind swirled around her, closer and closer until it was nearly brushing her skin, and beneath the howling rush of air, she felt rather than heard a soft whisper brush past her ear: You are a guardian. Hel's eyes widened in realization, and in that moment, everything--the wind, the snow, the ice, the storm--ceased to exist.

She opened her eyes to find herself in an unfamiliar room, in an unfamiliar bed, staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. She sat up, glancing around to find a small slightly-cracked mirror on a dresser in one corner of the room, and on top of the dresser rested a set of freshly-folded new clothing. Weird, she thought, wandering over to the new clothes and putting them on. After all, they must have been meant for her.

Lyra felt a wavw of cold wash over her, but in the blink of an eye, it was gone. Shaking off the strange feeling, she extended her right hand.

"Hello, sir. My name is Lyra. It seems we're in the same predicament..."

Dressed in her new clothes, Hel glanced about the room. She seemed to be in a shack of some sort, and a dilapidated one, at that. The door was hanging to its frame by one hinge, and the roof of the house was resting haphazardly on the walls, which were slanting inward. The walls gave an ominous creak, to which Hel reacted with a start. She quickly glanced about the room for anything she could salvage; the house could collapse any moment now, so she'd have to leave fast.

In the corner was a bag bulging with who knew what, and next to it, a halberd leaning against the wall. She shouldered the bag, thinking she'd explore its contents later on, and lifted the halberd. It felt light and natural in her hands, as if she'd been born to wield it, and the blue sapphire-like stone set into the handle seemed to pulse with warmth as she squeezed it under her palm.

"I guess we are..." Kamiss muttered. He looked to the sky. "Something is really not right here. I mean, aliens just attacked, so yeah. But I feel something else." He said, not looking at her. He sighed inwardly. "What now?"

"I don't know. Seems like just about anything could happen, though. Aliens, voices, rock arrows... What a Monday." She tried to laugh, but her voice refused to obey. She shook a little instead.
