I was watching Outlaw Star today and in episode 7 (I think) in the beginning it talks about the bad guy Hazonko. I barely caught this, but the narrator says something about how Hazonko opposes the 108 stars. The second I heard that I was like "The 108 stars of destiny???!!!" I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this or why it would be in this awesome anime series? Are the 108 Stars of Destiny related to anything in Japanese Folklore?

Really Demon? I actually liked the series, but I don't know anything about someone opposing the 108 stars. Sorry.

108 stars actually = Chinese folklore I believe. Used quite a bit in stories and mangas, kinda like that legend of the 7 sutras that is the basis for Dragon Ball and a bunch of other things. I can't recall much of the stories really, but I know the 108 stars have been discussed in the guild a many a times beforez. I do not recall what threads tho

for the record i love outlaw star! I miss it T.V. anymore but i guess thats what DVD's are for right? to the book store! ...what? like you dont buy DVD's at the book store too.

There is actually a book (japanese or chinese, I can't remember) That all those stories are based from. It was a man, I think he was the emperor's general, who found 108 soldiers, magicians, startegists, etc. to help him oppose the emperor. Some of them even deflected from the emperor's side. Anyway, the book gives the names of the 108 SoDs and the people that filled the roles. I think I got all this from Suikosource. Sorry I couldn't remember more.....

I don't think so. I think the 108 stars of destiny is a Chinese folklore. Outlaw Star isn't the only Anime that mention 108 stars. It's also mentions in an Anime called Saint Seiya. The Hades Santuary Chapter to be exact, since the Inferno chapter is now being realised. Of course the 108 stars represent 108 spectres of Hades who are bad guys.
