Yeah, I was always wondering... What oppinions do you guys have on Gibson copies. Like Washburn and Tokai?
Me, personaly, I like the Tokai. It's EXACTLY like a Gibson. (I'm talking about the Les PAul model). It looks exactly the same. Headstock, shape, size, sound, EVERYTHING.
They only difference is that it doen't say 'Gibson' on the headstock.
Tokai is now illegal to sell or trade in the U.S.A because Gibson sued the s**t out of them for being exact replicas of Gibson, but for an affordable price. Good thing I live in Canada!
I just played a Tokai Les Paul yesterday and an actual Gibson Les Paul... And I couldn't tell the difference! It felt so 'right' when I was playing them.
Discuss: -your oppinions on copies of Gibson. -you oppinions on Tokai -should I get a Tokai Les Paul instead of Gibson? -your experiences with Tokai and Gibson copies. -other copies of other guitar brands.

I've never actually played one, but I've heard FANTASTIC things about Agile Les Paul copies on the DIYStompboxes.com forum. Supposed to be VERY good quality, set neck and everything, for about 200-300 USD on eBay.
Unfortunately I'm not too into Gibon styled guitars, so I havn't played many copies. I have however played an Epiphone G-400, which could be argued as a copy. IT was by far one of best feeling instruments I've played, despite my Fender roots.

Bad experiences with copies, myself. But i know that just because a company designed a guitar, dun mean it can't be outdone.
Especially with something as varied as a guitar.

I dunno... This summer I'm sure to get a new guitar. And I've always wanted a Les Paul. But, if I want the GIbson one..I'm sure I'm gonna have to wait another year. @.@
I just wanted to know if I should wait, or byt the Tokai Les Paul. confused

AshWufei Play both and see if the Gibson is wort hthe wait. Actually, I have. And to be honest, if the dealer had but duck tape on the headstocks of both guitars so I don't see the lable, I couldn't ell teh difference! Tokai is and exact replica of the Gibson. When I played both, I knew why Tokai is now illegal in the U.S! If I follow your advice, I would buy the Tokai this summer. 'Cause seriously, my little $300 Ibanez just doesn't feel right for some reason. confused

Well, unfortunately, I'm no expert in the music that you play (hell, I don't even consider myself an expert of the music I play and love!). But from what I hear/read...You need a new amp! xP I have a Small Marshall amp. Can't remember the model..but it's exactly like the ne James Tanner has.(Fender obsessed dude). But, if you have the money, I would go with a peavey like Hilyanhero(sp?). I've played it. Damn amazing.
I'm just sorry that I can't really be of any hepl to you. sweatdrop Sorry.
