Story: A plane crashes on a distant Pacific island, stranding a number of survivors. Fortunately, this isn't some worst case scenario: fruit is abundant, fresh water is available and, wouldn't you know it, electronic equipment is working! After some tinkering a signal is out; a local witch doctor will be flying in a few days to pick up the survivors.
The problem? Some of the survivors are crazy - FOR MEAT. There are no animals around, so starting tonight they're willing to feast on the closest meat source to sate their appetites.
The next day the remains of an unfortunate passenger were found. As there were no animals on the island, the survivors decided that one of them was a crazy psychotic murderer. Following the advice of the witch doctor, they decided that every night they'll vote for one of their own to leave the island, hoping that it'll be the murderer.
And every night the remaining cannibals will pick off another from the group.
Who will survive - the innocent humans awaiting rescue or the cannibals gone crazy?

Story (2): Ete Island This island could be considered a paradise. There's lots of fresh water and a variety of edible fruit on the island, some that have never been seen by human eyes. No animals inhabit this island; sea creatures tend to keep their distance.
Unattached to the earth's mantle, this island drifts through the world's seas; it has been sighted in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, to name a few. The weather is perpetually tropical, defying local climates. Radios and other electronic equipment work on the island, but only at a limited range; random planes may pick up any signals people on the island send out.
What makes this island so dangerous is that it has a nasty habit of attracting random planes towards it, preferably in the form of fiery crashes. Some survivors suddenly become possessed with an insane drive to eat meat and resort to cannibalizing their fellow members in order to sate said appetites.
Magical? Evil? Haunted by malevolent spirits who long for human flesh? Pfft, as if we care.
What you should probably care about is whether or not you'll survive long enough to escape.
The Map
Ete Island was conceived by Tears and Rain, not me. Totally her idea.

Quick And Dirty Gameplay: Every day, vote out one of your fellow survivors. Cannibals also tell me who they're eating. Votes are tallied by a deadline time and a new round begins the next day.
Last ones standing win!
Starting a New Game: The GM (game master) will make a thread calling for sign ups. This is also known as the "boarding call" (you know, boarding call the get on the plane?). The following information should be bolded:
Cost to join in and play: this money goes to the winners' pot. Number of players: only a certain number of players can be taken per game. First come, first serve. Deadline time: this is the time that votes have to be in by. The time is always given in whatever the GM comfortable with. This clock provides the current time in EST.
Of course, not all GMs live in EST. GMs can refer to the deadline time in their own zone; it's highly recommended that you provide a clock as well so players can convert, if necessary. (The link above is pretty handy.) It is the player's responsibility to convert; GMs are under no obligation to be nice and provide six different times for all the players.
Gameplay (full instructions): 1. You will receive a PM with a title: either HUMAN or CANNIBAL. (For simplicity, that's what I'm classifying them as. Take your moral debate elsewhere, it's just a game.) If you are a HUMAN, the PM will link you to the game thread. If you are a CANNIBAL, the PM will also list your fellow cannibals.
Humans and Cannibals are selected randomly by Randomizer.org; I don't choose or have any influence over the results.
2. Talk in the thread! Roleplay, chat or just bounce suspicions off each other! This isn't the only way to chat though. I highly recommend that survivors exchange IM information. It's simply easier to get in touch with others.
3a. Every day, before the deadline, one person will be voted off the island. Before this deadline, you MUST PM the GM who you plan to vote out. I will show on the survivor list how many votes each person has received, but not who has voted them. You may change your vote; the last thing I receive by the deadline is your decision. If I don't receive anything? That's cool too.
3b. In the event of a tie, one of the survivors in question will be randomly voted off.
3c. If you are a cannibal, you and your fellow cannibals must also collaborate and decide who to eat. This can be done through PM, AIM, e-mail, whatever. So long as someone sends me something by the deadline.
This is in addition to the survivor vote: therefore, humans send me who they want to cast off and cannibals send me who they want to cast off and who they want to eat.
If I get no votes from the cannibals, no humans will be eaten for that night. This gives the humans a better chance at surviving and the cannibals the inability to slack off and let me do the dirty work.
3d. If no votes are received by the deadline, a random player (human or cannibal) is removed from the game.
4. When all the votes are received or the deadline expires (whichever comes first), I will post the results and a new round of voting begins. I may or may not reveal whether the survivor was a human or a cannibal.
5a. Everyone on the island has access to the radio. However, the witch doctor will try to send clues through the radio to the humans to stop the cannibals. If you are a human, check your PMs often! You may receive a clue from the witch doctor, but it is up to you to share it with the group.
5b. Cannibals will never receive clues. The cannibals must be cunning enough to make up their own clues to cause confusion among the humans. Humans, look out for anyone who isn't speaking up about their clues!
5c. Stop screenshotting, damnit. Explanation goes here.
6. If there are not enough players, all entrants will receive a full refund.
Winning: Humans: Vote off all the cannibals before you're all eaten. However, only the surviving humans will split the pot. Therefore, if you were eaten on the first day but by the fourth day the cannibals are gone, you don't get anything.
Cannibals: Reduce the number of humans to less than your original number. If there are two cannibals, you need to trim the herd down to one human. If there are three cannibals, you win if only two humans remain (not including cannibals). All cannibals receive a share of the pot, regardless of whether they survive or not.
Strategy: ...I've already told you how to play; I'm not going to tell you how to play it well!
Gameplay is subject to change at any time.

Rules: 1. This game will require DAILY PARTICIPATION. I reserve the right to kick inactive players from the game. Please post at least once a day in the game thread - even if it's "Hi, s'up dawgs?"; even if you spend more time chatting on AIM/MSN.
This is to confirm that you're still active in the game. It isn't fair to have humans coast to survival because they never post and act suspicious. It isn't fair to take up slots when others want to play. The game needs to move and I will cast off dead weight.
2a. Please do not change your username during the game. This is to minimize confusion during the game, both for other players and me; if I see someone posting and s/he's not on the survivor manifest, that's a strike.
2b. You can change your avatar's appearance. The GM will take a screenshot of your avatar for clue referencing.
2c. One account per player; don't sign up with multiple accounts. If you have two accounts on Gaia, don't take up two slots in one game. If I need to explain why, I think you should reconsider joining. Likewise, please don't post with multiple accounts. Not everyone knows that Billy Bob Poster's mule account is Mistress InuDemon396.
3a. If you're out, you're out. Don't post here anymore. Don't communicate with the other players in the game. This is to heighten the sense of drama, having a voice suddenly cut off. I know I can't stop PMs, but I trust you guys to play fair. I will throw you out of the game if you don't comply.
3b. If you're not in the game, don't post. It'll confuse the players and lend an uneven advantage to one side. Posting is limited to the survivors.
Occasionally, I will use my mule account (The Paper) to post updates, but I shouldn't be this lazy.
4. Please post your thoughts on the thread, but communication isn't limited to here. The cannibals will definitely need to PM or IM each other elsewhere; if you trust someone enough to share your suspicions, feel free to use PM/IM. However, if you want to talk to everyone, I recommend using the thread.
5. Should I throw you out of the game, you're not getting a refund.
6a. I try to be fair, but I'm also human. Changing your vote once or twice is okay, but after the seventh "Sorry, changed my vote" or "Can you pleeeeease help me with this clue?" PM you're going to piss me off. And I can't guarantee that I'll treat you fairly if you keep it up.
Also, if I make a mistake, I apologize - after all, I'm human - and feel free to correct me!
6b. In accordance with Being Human, I do not live on Gaia. I will try to answer things in a timely fashion and update as soon as possible, but if I had to choose between guaranteeing my survival in the real world and updating the game? Hmm.
7. Rule-breaking is on a two-strike system. First offence - I PM what you did and list your name. Second offence - you're out.
I may clear your name after the game, depending on the severity of the offence. Like I said, I'm human and I'll think about it.
8. This game is meant to be run by the players, not by me. As some of you may know, I'm a b***h when it comes to being helpful. I'll answer technical questions like "Am I allowed to do this?". But things such as "Can you help me with this clue?"? I'll tell you to talk to the other players.
It wouldn't be fun or challenging if you could get all the answers from me; this game is designed so you have to interact with each other. I won't rip off your head if you ask me a question that I won't (not can't, won't) answer, but be prepared to be disappointed if you're asking me for help.
9. Rules may change at any time.
10. Questions? See me.

Hosting Your Own Game I've had requests from other players to host their own game. I'm happy to see that other people like this game so much that they want a shot at it, but like the neurotic and overprotective person I am, I have a few things to say before doing so.
First, tell me you're running a game! There are a few people that want to run games. As interesting as it would be to see two games going at the same time to accommodate for players in different time zones, I'm pretty sure half a dozen people starting games will result in the game losing its appeal (not to mention fighting to see who can get all the players first).
I'm really defensive about this. I've heard of people who want to run the next game, then find out someone else has already beat them to the punch. Telling me ensures that you're in line. As I've said, many people want a chance to run a game; it's only fair that we sort out who gets to do it and when.
There are some things you should know about GMing a game. I need to tell you these things. If you've run a game before, you should know these things and don't need to ask me to tell you. If you haven't, you should really ask me, or at the very least ask someone who's recently GMed a game.
Know the rules. I'm not saying that this is something obvious and stupid, but if you don't know the rules one hundred percent, it's not a good idea to try and run a game. It's kind of like operating heavy machinery without reading the manual first, only without the risk of losing a limb.
You don't have to copy and paste everything on this page. Gods know that this is a lot of stuff. At the minimum, have a brief story about the flight and a copy of the gameplay and rules. This thread is updated fairly often as more games come on and stuff, so I'd recommend getting your copies here. Everything else is extraneous.
I'm not going to ban you if you want to run a game - I love it when players want a try at this! But this is so I see this game die from everyone getting sick of seeing it on the forum. Also, I'm extremely possessive, and I like to know that my game's going into good hands. ^.^
