The Melody Within
2000
Thoughts run through my soul
With melodies so sweet
It is music to my ears
My heart soars with the beat
I take your hand, afraid
My heart forever fearful
You whisper in my ear
Like the rhyme of ages lost
I take that trembling step
Into misery exquisite
And wonder about timing
About healing the heart broken
I wish ever so deeply
That for once I am right
Then the ages rush over me
Taking my mind to confusion
If I could once look into
The windows of your soul
Perhaps then I could see myself
As you view me in moments
No longer am I the flower
Of childish wants and fancy
Then for the rest of eternity
I would be a woman worth of love.

Heroes
2005
A call from the wind is heard from the hills
It proclaims the truth in the heart that it fills
In glorious triumph a flag is now raised
Not for the winning, but in ancestral praise
Starry skies visible over the tops of the trees
Whispers of miracles on through the breeze
For there is no battle that truly is won
When driven by fear it has only begun
Wondering thoughts drifting to morning's first light
Pondering on surrender, to give up the fight
"Where is the truth in these days of lies?"
"Where are the heroes?" I shout to the skies
Are they truly in the ones that fight?
Or are they hidden away from the light?
In our great nation, we all have a dream
A dream unreachable unless formed as a team
The only way to truly have won
Is to be always united as one
But as we unite, will we stand all together?
Or will we fall at the touch of a feather?
These are the questions that reside in my heart
Will we be united, or will we fall apart?
So heroes, in my mind, are not those that fight
But those who stay together. Those who unite.

I open up my eyes
You are all I see
My heart beats ever faster
I slow my breath again
I wish you were with me

Could it be a dream?

At times, in life, you see echoes again

Darkness covering my mind
At times covering my heart

Promises of insanity
Pulling me into the past
Bringing life's circle to continuity

His voice like a whisper of promise
A ray of light on a midsummer morning
Like twilight fantasies never forgotten
Sending evergreen memories through my mind
I dream, but to wake, feeling him beside me
Alas, only to find the illusion lacking
An askance of poetry gives my mind no rest
No words come to paper to describe this
To feel it's breath, I thought emotion lost
In drunken despair I sought only a friend
Like a dream spread on gossamer wings
Soaring through a sun streaked sky
The wise fool cupid took his merry time
Though he struck, I hardly realized the change
I found no prince of fairy lore and tale
But one with a heart too broken to live
This pen, though full of fancy words and telling
Only sees the world through an opinionated gaze
The past, full of mistakes, has no regret
Might I live to one day see through his eyes

The colors of my heart and soul
Rising slowly across the horizon
Echoing over mountains
Of deep majesty and surrender
Morning dew glistens
On wings made of whisper and wind
Dreams of sky meeting body
In a delicious rush
As I touch the chilled floor
I mourn for all that I have lost
The sunrise coming in sweet echoes
Around my poised fingers
Colors in eternal fate
This is all I seek in gentle longing
Forever waiting for the air
On the ground around me
No tears but my own
To mark the passing of my flight
Yet in my heart it will stay
My everlasting bit of freedom

Dreamscapes

The beauty of life at hand hidden in sunset eyes
Laughter fills the base of the mountains about us
The valley rings with magic, but to see
To see is the most precious gift of man
Forever rings true in a moment so false
Turned by the enemy to fight for loss
Time turns the hidden corner in curiosity
And finds love - the measure of winning
To find in sweetness what life does not offer
To bind in life what you cannot find
To everlasting joy your heart gives way
In more ways than imagined your heart takes wing
This is the story that life does not tell
Then time brings forth all little points of fantasy
To design then the probable course of man
Fiction is the purest form of storytelling
Written in days put far in our past
Every moment measured to the truest beat
The greatest time going so very fast

With thousands of whispers flying on the breeze
My emotions spoken without thought or wish
Falling to the floor, I shudder with despair
Shying away from the memory within your eyes
My heart does not listen to my mind's constancy
But instead it operates on twinges of passion
I give to you freely all I will ever have
But I fear I will be echoed in vain
Every path leads down for the broken
And broken I shall be until the night stays
Once killed, emotion is not dead for all time
But lies, waiting for one who is patient
You gave up what I had given in seconds
