Stephanie ran one more mental check that everything was in place. Everything was perfect, of course; Humphrey had never failed to perform his tasks above expectation. But Stephanie was still surprisingly nervous. He did not allow it to show outwardly outside of his meticulously checking over every detail as though that could guarantee a good first impression between his older sister and the woman he wanted to marry.
Of course if he was worried about making good first impressions, he probably should not have them meet over alcohol. Stephanie had arranged an intimate wine tasting and charcuterie for the three of them to take in one of the available sitting rooms. They could all appreciate a good glass of wine, so it seemed like a good way to break the ice. Perhaps that was shortsighted, but he had already invited them and made the arrangements so it was far too late to change his mind.
He was fretting too much. Stephanie huffed softly as he imagined Evelyn and Fiorella both having a good chuckle at how easily he could work himself into a lather over whether or not he should have wine served. They were all adults; it would be fine. And he rather thought Evelyn and Fiorella might find some easy common ground; if anything, he might be the odd one out. And that would be fine; he would have plenty of opportunities to spend time with each, one on one. Today was about getting them accustomed to one another.
Still, any time he met with Fiorella was a good time to make a good impression; Stephanie had found the brightest, sunniest yellow sweater to wear over his otherwise plain white shirt and brown slacks. Did he look foolish? He could make his eyes match at least… No, he was being silly. Maybe… his natural brown? He did not go with brown very often anymore, he preferred green, but he wondered if Evelyn might prefer something more familiar. Brown it would be, then. Now all there was to do was wait for the first to arrive.
