🌲 Welcome to Mtengo Kivuli 🌲 Hello, and welcome! This is a Ma'Duwi pack based in an ancient pine forest, which only accepts naturally colored Ma'Duwi. They see themselves as guardians and caretakers of the forest, like Druids. Ma'ome are not welcome within their territory, but smaller animals may become allies of the pack, if they wish - so long as they follow the Law of the Forest.
Physically, Ma'duwi of the pack tend to be a bit smaller than average, but quick and agile. Many have taught themselves to climb trees and walk among the branches - leading to the name of the pack's default rank, the Treewalkers.

🌲 History and Traditions 🌲 A long time ago, a different pack claimed the lands now belonging to the Kivuli, a pack that faded with time and tragedy. There was one young pup who survived this - their young Prince; Malkhazi. Orphaned, he wandered the lands alone for a long while, the only remnant of his old life being the crown upon his head. Though his memories of his old pack were hazy, he did recall that part of what brought them down was infighting and a coup against his parents, the king and queen. Most of the fighting was centered around how to use the resources of the forest - with the group that staged the coup wanting to hunt without any limits; which would eventually destroy the natural balance. During his wanderings, he met another Ma'duwi, a beautiful female named Fainne. She questioned him about his crown and he related what he could remember of his old pack. Interested, she asked if he could possibly show her his old pack lands, since she had grown up alone as well, but always dreamed of being surrounded by a pack and family. As they traveled together, they grew closer and began to slowly dream of starting a pack of their own. One other detail Malkhazi recalled was that the group that tried to take over his old pack were all brightly and fantastically colored - so the two determined that no such colors would be allowed in their new pack. They also decided that they would have no true royalty within the pack, but that the leaders would be servants of the pack and the forest. They would protect the forest lands that once belonged to Malkhazi's family from the rest of the world, and build a family of their own. ((subject to change, need to run this by Niya!)) The Law of the ForestThese are the basic rules of the pack, all who wish to join must follow them. If a member breaks one of these rules, this transgression will be pointed out to them - once. If they break a rule again, they will be escorted to the edge of the pack's lands and told not to come back. Consequences for trying to get back into the lands will be dire. Take only what you need. Use all of what you take. - Hunting for food and/or harvesting plants for making useful items is completely fine - overharvesting or hunting for sport is absolutely not allowed.
All are equal, though some trees grow taller than others. - It's understood that some pack members will be better at one thing or another. But looking down on others for any reason is not tolerated. Even the pack leaders are only leaders because the pack agrees that they are qualified to be there.
Balance in all things. - This is a bit more of a flexible law; but basically it means that pack members should strive to keep their actions and emotions in a balanced state. Not to say that great joy and sadness don't exist and can't be shown. But if a member is constantly stuck in a certain state of mind, they'll be encouraged to address this in some way.
Respect the forest, and its denizens. - This ties into the first rule, but goes a bit deeper as well. Pack members are taught that the forest is their home, but that it does not belong to them - rather, they belong to the forest. So they should show respect and not willfully cause harm other than what is needed for survival.
Only those as natural as the forest will be allowed. - Basically, this is just the law that says unnaturally colored Ma'duwi are not allowed in the pack. At the moment, this means dark or earth tones and natural patterns. It remains to be seen if brighter colored but still natural themes will be allowed at a later point (such as bird/insect colors). This is a bit more relaxed for pack allies of other species, though natural colors are still preferred.
No cats. - This is a Ma'duwi pack, not a mixed colony. Though Ma'ome are not attacked on sight or anything like that, they are not allowed to enter the pack lands. If a Ma'ome doesn't leave after being asked politely the pack will then drive them out by force.
TraditionsComing soon...

🌲 Pack Ranks 🌲 The ranks within the pack are as follows... "Higher Ranks"As stated before, all in the pack are considered to be equals - but there are some that are more qualified for jobs with more responsibilities. These ranks are not necessarily RP-required (cause lets face it, RL has a chokehold on a lot of people haha). But they should at least be plotted out with the pack leaders. Eldest Tree - Technically, one of the pack leaders. This is not limited to two, though at the current time, there are only two. A pack member holding this rank is considered one of the wisest and most knowledgeable about the forest and the pack's way of life. Their main duties are to advise and help other pack members; to be more of a servant than a monarch.
Elder Tree - These are other similarly wise and/or older pack members, who have gained respect and admiration within the pack. They aren't really seen as lesser than Eldest Trees, but they haven't quite gained the same levels of knowledge and wisdom.
Head Hunter - This is the pack member that speaks for the Hunters, if any major decisions need to be made. They will bring concerns from the Hunters to the Elder, or Eldest Trees if need be.
Head Crafter - This is the pack member that speaks for the Crafters, if any major decisions need to be made. They will bring concerns from the Crafters to the Elder, or Eldest Trees if need be.
Head Healer - This is the pack member that speaks for the Healers, if any major decisions need to be made. They will bring concerns from the Healers to the Elder, or Eldest Trees if need be.
Head Treewalker - This is the pack member that speaks for the Treewalkers, if any major decisions need to be made. They will bring concerns from the Treewalkers to the Elder, or Eldest Trees if need be.
Head Underbrush - This is the pack member that speaks for the Underbrush members, if any major decisions need to be made. They will bring concerns from these pack members to the Elder, or Eldest Trees if need be.
"Regular Ranks"Anyone may request these ranks, with no limits.
Seedling - The young members of the pack, the default rank for pups.
Sapling - A rank for Adolescents, and new pack members who join as adults. These pack members must show they understand and can follow the Law of the Forest before moving into a new rank as an adult. In reality, this will mostly be for Adol's, we won't make every new adult member get a cert change a bunch of times haha. But plot/RP-wise, this rank exists as a step between joining and choosing a for sure pack rank. If a new member wants this rank at first, though, that's also fine!
Hunter - Those who primarily hunt for the pack. Typically, these are always Ma'duwi, though other creatures are not necessarily banned - it would just be harder for a smaller species to contribute as much.
Crafter - These pack members have a talent for making both useful and beautiful items. They create items both from prey animals, and from things gathered in the forest around them. This rank is open to all.
Healer - These pack members have knowledge of herbs that can aid in healing, and other techniques to treat injuries. This rank is open to all.
Treewalker - The catch-all, default pack rank for Ma'duwi who don't wish to choose a specialty. They serve as scouts, guards, gatherers, or whatever else may be needed.
Underbrush - The default rank for pack members that are not Ma'duwi. Though the underbrush is not as tall or visible as the trees, it is still very important for the health of the forest. These pack members do much the same things as Treewalkers, they're just called something different.
