Yukio gazed at the massive snowstorm from inside a cave deep in the eastern mountains. Outside, the snow quickly piled up as the storm howled its icy breath throughout the mountain range. Soon, the view outside the cave vanished as the heavy storm swirled a blanket of heavy snow. The outside of the cave was angled in a manner that made it difficult for a snow pile to swallow up the cave. Yukio had been caught off guard by the storm's severity, as the storm initially started as a mild flurry. Yet from prior experience, Yukio knew he was perfectly safe inside the cave, although he was slightly chilly.
Born out of the union of a Snow Spirit soq and an ice soq, Yukio's blood sang in delight in the icy season. For all herd members, winter’s crisp air, biting wind, and falling flakes excited the herd. Yet Yukio often felt that his body was slightly more vulnerable to icy conditions compared to his family members. Maybe his resistance had been diluted due to one of his maternal grandparents not being of icy body constitution. This particular storm was by far the heaviest in the season. Despite his years of living in a snowy environment, an unfamiliar feeling emerged within his chest. After some reflection, Yukkio recognized the unease that was creeping throughout his body. The Storm was unlike any he had experienced before. Despite the severity of the storm, harsh winter storms were common in the area.
From outside the cave, Yukkio heard a voice calling out to him. The song of the icy gusts howled with a mysterious power. Enthralled with the song of the storm Yukio left cave and walked into the storm. A sharp, icy pain smashed into his chest. He fell unconscious as he felt power thrum throughout his body. When he woke up his breath had become icy as the power of the mysterious storm had changed him.
