Jingles rolled over and yawned. Was it today? She heard birds chirping in the distance and smelled the gentle aroma of fresh grass. Opening her eyes, she scanned her surroundings. It was a brand new day. Getting to her feet, she trotted over to a patch of grass and grazed a bit. Mmm, new year grass. She walked over to the stream to drink some water, and overhead other ponies with their grandiose plans to celebrate the new year. What plan did she have? She wanted to hang out with her friends and celebrate, but she was feeling rather meloncholic. Maybe this year, she will celebrate alone, she thought.
After drinking a good amount of water, she crossed the stream, and silently made her way to the forest. Entering the forest, she heard birds, and every so often heard someone cry "Happy New Year!" This made her smile, and think, even if she wanted to be alone for the new year, she was not really alone, so she isn't really lonley. After some time, she came to a clearing. She walked over to the edge of the clearing, and saw that there was a cliff. "Oh, here... wouldn't it be nice to just release all my worries and start over?" she pondered. And she approahced the cliff.
Once there, she closed her eyes and contemplated all the suffering and hardship she endured the past year. And she reached for a balloon string, and held it tightly. And after some time, she released it into the sky. She watched the balloon float away and drift toward the heavens. Maybe I can let go and start fresh now, she thought, as she closed her eyes and started to tear up.
"New year, new me. I'll be ok." She opened her eyes and felt a weight being lifted off her shoulders. She was free.
