It's a new year in the Kawani lands! Winter is in full swing and much of the land is covered in snow. Does your soquili do anything to acknowledge or celebrate the new year? Are they part of a herd or family that has a tradition or ceremony? Have they made a promise to start the new year with a clean slate and change themselves for the better?

Or did they simply try to stay warm and wait for the snow to melt and spring to arrive?

Write an RP responding to the above prompt. Your soquili should acknowledge the fact that it is a New Year - how they react to that is up to you.

To qualify for both soquili & fam prizes, you must write at least 750 words. Anything less will qualify you for a familiar or 5 raffle tickets (your choice).

Noelle again was alone as the old year faded and the new one began. She had plenty of friends but the love she has been searching again has eluded her for another year. She is hopeful that the new year will be different.

She has watched her friends find their loves, be happy, spend countless hours together and have offspring. She longs for that as well.

Her family have moved away to greener pastures as they say. She didn't want to make that drastic change, so she stayed behind. She misses them, for at this time they would be sitting, having a special meal and discussing plans for the new upcoming year. Each member would reveal a wish they would want granted from the new year and each member would wish them luck with it.

Moving restless around her home she moved to her window, and she gazed out onto the beautiful white landscape and her mind wandered. She envisioned how it would feel to be standing in this exact spot as her mate came into their yard and home. The smile on his lips, the light spring in his step as he was home, the love in his eyes as he saw her as he stepped into their cozy home and above all the soft nuzzle, he would give her in greetings.

That thought made her shiver a bit, not in fear but in longing. She was loathe to admit her jealously of her friends, but it was always there she was very adept at hiding it. She forced her heart to beat normally, her breath coming in controlled, steady rhythm and her a polite smile on her face when near her friends and their mates.

This new year, a coming of a renewed chance of finding her happiness. She promised herself to be more outgoing, try to make new friends outside of her circle and allow herself to experience random events. She wouldn't schedule every aspect of her daily routine; she would allow random things to happen.

Take a walk whenever she feels like it not when she schedules it, go to the market on a whim whenever the mood struck her, try new foods and drinks instead of her favorites, talk to strangers and see if she can make a new friend in the process and experience nature at its fullest.

The old her wouldn't dare. Staying in during the frigid months only venturing out for necessities and quickly returning until the thaw and the warmer winds of spring which would bring the flowers then the heat of the summer season. Then of course she would be in her yard enjoying the scented breeze and the warmth. Before she could blink the cooler winds and leaves falling would be rolling in then again, the frigid cold and snow of winter.

Her mind began to form plans for the entirety of the year, noting birthdays, holidays, solstices and other events the lands celebrated. She smiled to herself. She knew this wouldn't be easy; she would falter some but hopefully by the end of the year she will have at least made new friends if not find her mate!

Time to sit and plan her next move, when would be the perfect time to go out and make new friends? The weather outside was frigid, snow covered the entirety of the landscape she can see and beyond. The roads were covered in thick, slippery ice and the air was swirling with snow and ice mix that pelts you as you move. The weather was not for the faint of heart to be out for a leisurely stroll, only those truly desperate would dare venture out in it right now. Sighing, she turned back and decided to come up with some plans, the best way to approach the dilemma that is plaguing her.

Her desk gleamed with wood that was recently cleaned and shined. She was proud of the hard work she put into making it. The amount of time, labor and materials was hefty, but the finished product was worth all the aggravation she felt while making it. Some days were more difficult than others, but persistent pays off!

Making herself comfortable, she took out a piece of think, cream colored paper and reached for her quill. Her ink pot was full, she dipped the quill and wrote on the top of the paper in the middle "Plans for the New Year, New Me".

Sighing she began to think of what she wanted this year to be. What plans did she wish to make, events she wished to celebrate, places she wanted to visit and changes to her lifestyle and routine she wanted to make.

Before long she was writing feverishly, lost in thought. Not thinking about the words just letting them appear on the paper, stopping only to replenish her quill, the words kept coming. Her eyes began to squint, realizing the daylight was waning she stood and went to get the lantern to light. She stretched her neck and back before moving off. She didn't realize the amount of time she was sitting and writing. Her hand actually hurt and was cramping.

She fetched the lantern, got it nice and bright in room. Realizing she was starving, she went to make food giving herself a writing break.

Taking her food, she ate next to the window, the wind was still swirling the snow about, and it looked peaceful although she knew it wasn't. She sighed in contentment as she finished eating. She set her dish down, grabbed a blanket and cuddled down on the soft bench that sat beneath her window. She drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
