Meru didn't mean it when she wanted someone blue to be her next Alice to create a game for; but Zinger had done it. She was blaming him, at least. Well. She had started wanting an Alice to trick in a good game of cards, that much was her fault but would she even admit to that? Nope. In the end she ended up in deep conversation about plants and well. Her two giant giant bushes of plants that lay upon the top of her head. Celsius had been determined to talk to Meru about how long she had worked on pruning her branches of thick leaves. It was almost shrubbery-like during the summer seasons. Slowly it lost its leaves late in the autumn season and was bare of leaves during the winter. Her branches were the first to sprout buds and blossoms in the spring, it was not hard for them to fill with new leaves for their long standing summer. They were not year-round and bare like the growing chandelier branches her brother's large antlers were known for.
"Excuse me, Miss Jawbones?" Celsius' voice chimed in it's soft and sing-songy tone to catch a hold of Meru's attention back to the question. "How do you tend to your branches? How many days? If it's not a bother to ask... I wouldn't want to disturb you in your thoughts about games."
"Ah." She promptly began to voice her responses instead of just keeping them internal. She was born into being a green thumb, well, paw digit? Ribbon? "Why, my ribbons." On cue to them being mentioned, the four ribbon ends flicked up and waved about at the beachy mare. "They act like little chopsticks. Ready to help me with pruning the branches of leaves that had run their life and need that extra hand? Ribbon. To get them falling out. M'Mum says they make for great mulch for her carniv--Oh.. Uh. For her babies." She didn't want to startle the beachy mare more than the ribbons may have already in this conversation.
Instead of being unsettled, Celsius' divided toes of her feet tapped against the ground in an interested tune. "Peculiar." She giggled, "I take care of aquatic plants as they make me think of someone I am fond of." Her voice was naturally softer but higher in pitch with a gentle lilt. Even when she wasn't singing, she sounded like she could be holding a ballad. Her voice was as clear as the water that Meru had passed by earlier this day. "He has tentacles upon his head, your ribbons make me think of his tentacles. I'm sure you could give him quite the.. Appendage shake!" With her pleasant tone of excitement, her wings fluffed up and shuddered energetically. Besides, her toes made many take quick glances her way. "I like to think I am good at preening plants and keeping them alive. However, I can't quite fathom what it must be to have plants attached to my head in such a ways."
Meru caught the affectionate tone that the right smaller lady that moved in such an adorable fashion. She didn't expect that Celsius was such a talker. She seemed happy enough to be an introvert. The conversation Meru had wanted to start off was going to divulge Kelvin into a thick conversation of riddles and confusion before Meru would play her at a game of cards to win the beautiful crown of flowers from Celsius' head to decorate her antlers in. But instead. Lotan had been right, Celsius was such a pleasant and polite experience. She felt almost like she would have wronged such a bright mind if she riddled it into confusion now. Wait--Tentacles? Ribbons? Ah.. She was talking about Lotan just as Lotan talked about Celsius in passing. Did... Lotan talk about Celsius? She did look like the young beachy songbird that Lotan himself had chirped about.
"Miss Jawbones?" There it was again, Meru's attention came back to her. Celsius kept tune, "You have been eyeing my crown. How about this, how about we play a game? I know you had brought your best deck out. Each time one of us wins we win a flower."
Without even waiting a minute to respond this time, Meru tapped her paws in excitement. "Ah, you know how to read a person! I feel this will be your downfall in the end." Each time the other drew from the deck, the other would give plant care tips.
Celsius was known for keeping lilies and lotuses during the warm months. Meru filled her in, in how to keep winter plants which caught Celsius' need for a green thumb--or ribbon--that Meru was born into. Underland was known for being lush with many different plants, Meru had ribbon in helping in the upbringing of teaplants, her mother's carnivorous plants and other plants outside of her thick bush trees that sat upon her head since birth.
