Hakuron had been wandering for a while. He knew he was back near the mountains and was ok with this. He wasnt ready to go home but he was still adventuring. As the snow had started to fall he started looking for a cave or somewhere he could weather the storm. Soon enough he came upon a large cave. His tail swished behind him as he got closer to the cave and peered inside. It seemed like it had mostly been abandoned. He looked around the large cave and noted that the storm was picking up in strength. He nodded to himself and decided he would go and collect some firewood to keep warm during the blisteringly cold temps.

He went back out and started collecting firewood. After piling enough of it between his wings on his back he headed back to the cave. He walked into the cave and sat the wood down. He started making preparations to spend the night. It would be cold but at least the cave was big enough to be able go easily house the fire and the sleeping cot. He looked towards the cave entrance once more and noticed that the storm was gaining more strength. It seemed this would be a long one.

While it was certainly unusual this late into the season, a little dusting here and there wasn't unheard of - nor was it particularly dangerous. But there was something in the air that gave Inari pause. A bite that hinted all too well it would not be a little dusting blowing through. The breeze carried a warning to any that cared to listen, and Inari had no intention of being caught unawares in the middle of the storm that was on its way.

Shelter was most important, which meant haste would be paramount. The plains would offer no reprieve from harsh winds or mountains of snow - and while the forests would normally be safe enough, a heavy enough storm might see creaky old branches crashing down to crush those beneath them. Which meant stone would be safest. A cave, then. Preferably not merely hollowed straight into stone but at an angle so the wind would buffet away instead of being funneled right into where she sheltered. She recalled a spot not far from here that would be suitable, although she was unsurprised to find it already occupied upon her arrival. The wise saw the signs already, just as she had.

"My apologies. It appears I didn't arrive soon enough." She dipped her head politely before turning to leave. This particular cave would be a snug fit for two, and she wouldn't wish to impose herself on a stranger.

Hakuron was busying himself with the wood for the fire. He knew he could use his powers to make himself warmer and to start a small fire. He had heard the paw pads heading towards him. He turned at the sound of a voice. He looked at her. She was gorgeous. He couldn't take his eyes from her and wound up even stumbling over the pile of wood. He saw her turn from him and her words registered.

"No... um please....." he said. He chided himself, he wasnt usually like this. He figures its the stress of the storm mixed with her presence that has him all flustered. "Please stay. Its getting really bad out there... I would hate for you to be caught in the storm. At least in here it will be sheltered and hopefully safe from the storm."

He hoped he hadn't made a complete idiot of himself with the stumble. He used one of his back legs to kick the wood back into a pile. He smiled to her. He knew it would be a tight fit but that would also keep them both warmer. He could even use his control over fire to keep them both warmer.

There was something instantly charming about the stallion immediately stumbling over himself at the first glimpse of her. It wasn't unusual, really - Inari knew she was attractive, and she had plenty of stallions and mares and everything in between fawning over her at the first meeting. But she often found the awkwardness far more charming than the smooth flirtations. It felt more genuine when someone stumbled over their words or was clearly caught off guard and had to put their thoughts back in some semblance of order.

"You're sure it won't be too much trouble? I know space is rather tight in there," she asked, although she turned to take a few steps into the cave, just enough to shelter her mostly from the breeze. It was starting to kick up now, the fine dust of snow making visibility more difficult as it was kicked into the air. She might have just enough time to find another shelter - but then again, she might find herself in the same predicament as here. Another occupant already hunkered down, and perhaps one less willing to share.

Hakuron was excited when she had turned back around. It would be much easier to weather the storm with someone else to keep him company. This was definitely a blessing in disguise. He thanked the gods for his luck.

"It will be much nicer to have company." He smiled. "My name is Hakuron. I do have the power over fire. I dont mind sharing my warmth with you..." he wasnt trying to be forward but he glanced at the entrance of the cave as a particularly strong wind gust blew by. With it brought bigger and heavier flakes.

"It also looks like the storm is getting worse. Please come in and make yourself comfortable..." he moved back so he was more out of the way. "Ill have the fire working here in a moment..." to pull some pressure from her he decided to go back to getting the small fire going. He didnt want her to feel pressured to stay in the cave with him. This was a decision he felt she needed to make on her own.

"This must be quite the opportune time for all those whose element is fire, hm?"

Inari could certainly imagine what others might do with the ability. There were many out there who'd attempt to take advantage, attempting to trade the use of their ability for anything desirable another might offer. But it seemed this stallion in particular desired no more than her safety - and perhaps, if she were lucky, her company. She could certainly imagine how warm it might be if he were bold enough to drape a wing over her side...

"I'm Inari. It's a pleasure to meet you, Hakuron. And quite fortuitous timing for me. I'm not confident the other caves nearby aren't similarly occupied already," she said with a polite nod of her head, at last padding properly into the cave and settling down on the sleeping cot he'd already laid down. There was just enough room behind her that she felt he would be able to squeeze in, but it would certainly be a tight fit and require them to spend the storm tucked into each other's personal space. Not that she minded, of course. Hakuron had already proven himself quite charming.

He heard her words from beside him as she walked into the cave. He was genuinely glad she stayed. He would have been worried about her all night if she had decided to leave. It was easily turning into a very large and quick moving storm. He was certain it wouldnt be long before they were snowed in together.

"You are indeed correct my good lady..." he finished with the Fire and turned to her. He was surprised to see her settled on the sleeping cot but he was also intrigued by the potential.

He chuckled at her words. "Inari is a lovely name. It suits you so nicely..." he said to her. He made a move to settle near her but not in the space directly behind her. He wouldnt get that close to her unless she invited him to. One thing he had drilled into him by his mother was manners and respect for others/potential lovers.

"So what brings you out into this weather? Are you traveling for family.... or.... maybe something else tempting you into the snow?" He would see if maybe he was intruding on her other partner... he was certain she had to have quite a few. He could hear the storm raging outside but he didnt notice it much inside the cave now that the small Fire was going.

Inari swiveled a large ear when Hakuron moved to settle further back from her, lips curling up in an amused smile before she tossed her head in a silent indication that he come closer. While she appreciated the respectful distance, there was no shame in snuggling for warmth in a storm like this. Or for other reasons, really - far too many took physical closeness as inherently having meaning. Oftentimes it was nice to simply be close to another warm body. Whether that led to other things... Well, that was something they could decide if that metaphorical river ever loomed in front of them - whether to cross it or not.

"I was enjoying the weather of the plains when I felt the first n** in the air. I had a mind to see if I could catch some early blooms in the next few weeks. Perhaps see if my sister was somewhere near here - she favors the open grasslands most," Inari explained, heaving a deep sigh and looking towards the entrance to the cave. By now, the wind was howling outside and the snow was truly coming down in force. She wouldn't be surprised if they'd need to dig themselves out when things quieted. "I suppose I won't be doing either, now. Weather like this will surely delay those first blooms even further."

He was watching her and when she made the silent movement for him to get closer he did just that. He moved over to her and settled behind her. He wrapped his tail around a couple of hers and settled one of his wings over her. He was quite content with the contact as it had been some time since he had had this close of a connection to another. He was interested to see where the night would lead them. Perhaps he was the lucky one for her to walk into the cave he had chosen. He smiled to himself.

He listened to her talk about her sister and seeing the first blooms of spring. That time of new life was always a joyous one and it was also one of the many festivals he had back home. He felt a pang of homesickness slide through him and cuddled slightly closer to Inari.

"It must be nice to be able to visit your sister so easily... its nice that family can stay close." He smiled at her as he then glanced out to the ever evolving storm. "Unfortunately I fear you are right. Those blooms are more than likely going to retreat for a while... Hopefully your trip isn't fully fruitless....." he said looking back at her. He was quite taken with her, and she hadn't mentioned a mate so this was probably a wonderfully perfect coincidence. He used his fire abilities to raise his temperature to ensure that he could keep them both warm enough during the night.

"We're both wanderers, really. But I can always tell when I'm in an area she'd like, and it's worth taking a few days to see if she's around."

Between the two of them, Koharu had always been the one that was more difficult to pin down. There were some that might've called her flighty, but Inari had always though her sister just had an explorer's heart. They both had a tendency to travel with the wind and they both had places that called to their hearts more strongly than others. Koharu liked wide open plains and Inari liked the forests. But they both liked places where they could see the stars at night.

"It's a shame I won't be able to see those first blooms... But I think I might have found something to make the loss worth it." Inari canted her head back just enough that she could touch the side of Hakuron's muzzle with her own, promise in her smile.

The river loomed before her, tucked as she was beneath his wing and with the nest of her tails curled around the both of them. With any luck, they'd hardly notice the passage of time as they waited out the storm...
