This is a solo rp with the above soquili in reference to the following prompt:

The weather is turning but mother nature has one last hurrah in store - it seems she has mustered up a blizzard that's blown down from the mountains and over the majority of the Kawani lands. This is highly unusual for this time of year, it seems winter was not ready to let go! How does your soquili fair in this blizzard? Do they see the signs early and manage to avoid it completely? Do they seek shelter in time and wait it out? Do they find themselves stranded and in danger? Do they fend for themselves or do they help others around them?

Write an RP responding to the above prompt telling us about how your soquili responds to this natural disaster! Should you meet the requirements, the spirits may send them something to keep them warm!

The winter had been quiet. The Kateri herd was in a state of constant vigilance due to the kalona threat at their borders, but in the cold there had been little activity. As the weather had warmed the herd had become more anxious and there had been an electricity in the air for weeks. But Brigette hadn't been fooled. She'd read the signed and knew a storm was coming. She insisted on the herd preparing for one last blizzard, and since she was daughter of Viracocha, the second in Command, they did some listening. When she was satisfied the herd was prepped properly, she made her way to her personal abode where all of her own supplies were piled high. She planned to weather this storm out on her own. A little break from her brother and father would do her some good to sort out her life and where she wanted it to go.

She started unpacking her supplies and putting them away. Extra dried foods here, extra water there. Blankets, furs, firewood, candles, etc. She unpacked everything carefully and placed it all in easy reach where she could find it all easily in her cave. She slid the door halfway into place when she was done so she could still see out. As she did so, a few snowflakes started to flicker by and she smiled to herself. She liked the snow. Especially in their herd territory, which was fenced in by mountains on all sides and only accessibly by air or by traversing treacherous mountainous passes. The setup kept warm air trapped in the bubble for longer into the season than the rest of the kawani but didn't do much to save them from this massive blizzard which was bearing down on them already.

She set to work collecting her firewood and setting it up into a bonfire just outside of her cave. There were large boulders scattered about, and she built it in between some of these which blocked the wind a fair bit and helped funnel the hot air back towards the cave. Once the fire was steady and in no danger of going out anymore she moved on to lighting the candles inside to provide light and additional warmth. She spread out the furs along the floors and walls, hanging them over the door too to keep the warm air inside as best she can. It quickly became quite warm inside and she found herself pinning the door fur up to allow some of the frosty air inside.

It also afforded her a view of the increasing storm. The sky had darkened significantly since she had started her preparations, and the flurry of snowflakes had become an impenetrable wall of snow blowing in all directions. The wind was frigid and Brigette already could se ice starting to form on the rocks outside as the snow and freezing rain beat down on them. She shook her head and dragged a fur across her back for warmth and backed away from the doorway and the cold air. She turned back towards her cozy little nest illuminated with candles.

Shadows danced along the walls as she moved to her food stores and unwrapped some of her snacks. There was not much else to do but to settle in for the duration of the storm. She had books and scrolls and painting supplies to occupy her time and she could easily sleep through this. It was actually relaxing in the warm furs with the cold wind whistling outside. All she had to do was keep an eye on her fire.

She went to the door to check on it, nestled as it was between the stones however it was fairing well. It was getting low however and needed fuel so Brigette bundled up and stepped out into the icy night. Her thicker fur was a blessing in this weather but she still made it quick as she chucked a few more chunks of wood on the fire and gave it a bit of a poke to keep it going. When she was satisfied that it was still going to stay lit in this weather, she went back inside, shaking off the ice and snow that clung to her hair and eyelashes.

Shivering, she rushed to her makeshift bed and got under the furs, desperate to warm up a bit. Even bundled as she'd been outside the wind was vicious. It didn't take long for her to recover however, and she was back to looking outside from the comfort of her cave with a smile on her face and contentment in her heart. She had half a mind to worry about her family and the herd, but there was nothing more she could do now. She had prepped everyone as best she could and now there was nothing to do but wait it out. She knew everyone was fine though. The herd was strong and clever.

She stayed in her cave through the long night watching the snow accumulate on the ground until inch after inch piled up. She was amazing at the amount of snow, it nearly reached her chest when it was done! When the sun finally broke free of the clouds and the ice and snow and wind all died down and Brigette stepped outside the snow was thick and wet and hard to walk through.

She took the time to put out her fire, which had lasted all night with her occasionally feeding it, then cleaned up her cave and packed up her supplies carefully and stored them. She might need some of these things again the next time mother nature decides to drop several feet of snow on them. Until then, it was time to start finding out how the rest of the herd had fared. She opened the cave up fully and began pushing through the snow towards the other domiciles to check on her neighbors. Her work in the herd was never over.
