This is a solo rp between these two soquili in reference to the following prompt:

Fall has finally come and it's about time. You're really starting to enjoy the cooler weather after this blazing summer. You've started gearing everything towards this transitional time....Only, it's false tall or as some call it, second summer. It's getting unbearably hot again. Does it seem hotter than before or is it just because you'd finally had a break from the relentless heat? How does this effect your travel plans? Do you have to put them off or prepare differently? What about your hunting plans or you planting times? Is this whole thing a blessing in disguise or are you going to have to do a complete 180 in your life to make it work?

Write an RP responding to the above prompt telling us about how this changes your plans.

He was anxious. It shouldn't be this hot out and while personally he didn't mind the temperature itself he knew it affected the animals' behavior out in the forest. He HOPED that didn't mean what he feared it meant as he paced at the meeting spot. He was meant to be getting his furs and bones today from Toshi, one of the herd's hunters. It had to be today. He had plans to make one last loop along his trading route before the paths became impassable by the coming winter and if he didn't leave soon he wouldn't make it back to the herdlands before the frost. He hated getting trapped outside of home for the winter. He ground his teeth slightly as he p[aced a little faster, his tail kicking up dust and the few leaves that had already fallen. He hoped for good news but feared for the worst as he turned and saw her silhouette against the sun approaching him. As she neared he dipped his head in a sign of respect - those with multiple tails were seen as touched by the spirits and shown the respect that demands. He looked her up and down and noticed a disappointing lack of packs and frowned.

"How was hunting," he said politely but she had a knowing look in her eyes when his met them.

s**t. s**t. s**t.

She was screwed. The weather ruined her hunting, which ruined her tanning and bone prepping, to say nothing of her butchery and meat business. She had next to nothing for any of her clients. The herd would be disappointed, but it wasn't her fault! This damned Fool's Summer changed the patterns she'd been studying for weeks and when she went to collect the animals she'd been tracking, they were nowhere to be found. She sighed heavily as she tramped down the path to the place she often meets Takashi to give him his supplies. s**t. He needed to sell his wares to bring back things the herd needs. He can't do that now. Her heart felt heavy as she thought about it. She was letting everyone down. She signed again.

She crested a hill and there he was, early as always to their spot. She used to make a game of trying to beat him here on their meeting days, but she's become convinced he just appears there right before her no matter the time, like a fairy. The thought brought her a small moment of joy before she remembered the task at hand and sighed again. She made her way down to him but felt his eyes on her the whole way. She clearly wasn't laden down with all the packs of furs and bones and other wares she would normally have on her at this time. She bit her lip at his question.

"Takashi I'm so sorry," she started, " The weather disrupted the patterns. I couldn't find hardly anything, but I did end up with a few deer and brought you what little I did get." She smiled sheepishly, trying to soften the blow, as she pulled out the few meager furs and things she brought to him. It was a sad display, and she hung her head a bit in shame.

So it was as he suspected. He shook his head and sighed, but his expression softened looking at Toshi. She was so upset; he could tell. It made his heart hurt to see her in such pain over something she had no control over.

"Hey, look. The best hunters in the world are often thwarted by Mother Nature Toshi, you aren't immune. The herd will get by just fine without this last loop of mine. truth be told, I didn't need to go on this last trip. It was just for anything extra we might have wanted but we're all going to be fine through the winter." He held her eye contact. "Trust me, we're all going to be fine. And besides, I can have fun staying home for once." He offered her a charming smile. He hoped his words were true and that the herd would weather the coming winter just fine. Only time would tell that. But for the time being Toshi needed to not be carrying that burden.

He took a look at what she brought him, taking the time to fawn over each carefully prepared fur and bone. She didn't bring much but what she did bring was the highest quality work, as Takashi had come to expect of her.

"I'll take everything you brought me and keep it for the spring trip, how about that?" He smiled again.

He was taking it well! She was shocked! Her eyes welled up with tears but she kept them from falling, blinking them back quietly as he spoke to her. She was instantly relieved to hear she hadn't just doomed the whole herd to disaster by not being able to find what she needed. Of course, she'll continue hunting through the winter, and she'll eventually have better luck. Her heart felt lighter already.

They spent some time discussing her wares and how she came upon them, processed them, and packaged it all. Eventually he agreed to take it all and she was overjoyed. Her smile had returned and she was pleased to wrap it all up for him to take for his spring trip.

"Thank you so much for cheering me up. I was spiraling there for a minute, thinking I'd ruined everyone's lives. I'm glad I came to you first, I feel so much better now!"

He watched her light up as they spoke about her profession and all the details of her work and watched the tension leave her as they spoke. He was glad to be able to help her this way. She was often such a confident, almost scary huntress that walked around the herd like she could do no wrong, or maybe she was just that oblivious, he wasn't sure. She seemed intimidating until he spoke to her, then she was generally very friendly. To him at least.

"I'm glad I was able to bring you back from the brink." He said with a wink. "There's no need to panic here, we all work together for the good of all. A bad hunting day is just a bad day. We'll all figure it out together, no worries. Still, always feel you can come to me when you're overwhelmed, ok?" He meant it too. He wanted to make sure she was ok. She was blessed by the spirits, after all right?

Maybe there was more to it than that but that was all he could think about for the moment. He still had to try to figure out what he was going to do without this last trip of the season. He was completely packed and had planned on leaving in the morning- now he has to unpack! Well, he can leave his wares, such that they are, packed for his spring trip. He sighed a little, but kept his smile in place, looking at Toshi with fondness. "Why don't you come help me de-pack the cart I had set up? We can chat a bit more."

He didn't know what else to do with himself but to make preparations; that's all he knows how to do. Make preparations and plans and repairs.

She was enjoying his company, as usual. She could tell he was still keeping something back, but what she wasn't sure. But that was like amongst foxes. Half-truths and hidden secrets were par for the course. He invited her over though, so that was a good sign! She had planned to go back out to try to find more prey, but the middle of the day was poor hunting time. She only paused briefly before enthusiastically agreeing to come over to help Takashi de-prepare his cart for departure.

"So sorry you can't take your last trip," she said softly. "I'm sure you would have liked the adventure." He nodded as they walked away towards his home, the two talking amicably.
