Quote:
Biting Chill ( 18 ) : The cold is strangely harsh, and even the still wind is vicious enough to sting. But the cold isn't the worst part of tonight--it's what comes with it. Out of a swirl of blowing snow, a massive, wispy wolf takes shape, enormous and snarling, with fur spiked like jagged icicles. Its eyes glow with a cold, wild intelligence, and before you can even react, it lunges as though you’ve trespassed deep into its territory. Every strike it makes feels like the bite of winter itself. Wherever its claws slash, wherever its jaws snap, frost cakes over. Even if you're lucky enough not to take massive damage, the cold seeps bone deep. When you manage to land a hit, the creature bleeds a strange, clear blood--icy water that freezes instantly into slush on the ground. The more damage it takes, the more its form flickers, shredded like wind-torn snow. The wolf fights with the relentless instinct of a dire beast, but it is not invulnerable. It will never run. It will fight until its body is broken and flickering, then--finally--a sudden gust will rip through the air and carry its dissolving body away. Howls echo on the wind. The rest of its pack probably isn't too far behind.

Note: This strange wolf is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to meet battle requirements. You can use the prompt for as many characters as you like and it will count as a battle requirement, however if you repeat the prompt with the same character, only the first time will be usable as a battle.

The snow outside seemed to take on a different feel this morning, settling in an unease in Agatha's routine as she sat at the vanity and looked at the human face she was growing accustomed to. That pen of hers sat beside her, heavier as she stared at it for a moment before picking it up and heading toward the kitchen. With the master of the house out alongside dearest Desiree, she looked towards Liam for direction this time. The all too kind man probably would have finished cooking lunch by now, so she could ask him to look into this thing that nagged at her attention.

Passing by another window, she saw something stirring in the snow outside, and her mood soured. While this wasn't her true home, she disapproved of some trouble knocking at the door. While she could handle most things like this, without that power she had ignored since the shift in her position, this seemed like something that would require that power, as well as the additional help of someone more versed in the things of this city.

"Liam, something's outside. I don't believe we had guests coming?" Stepping into the kitchen, her henshin in hand, she looked for the blond as her serious tone rang out in the otherwise empty halls.

Liam was alone in the kitchen, having finished making lunch and packing it up in the fridge not that long ago, cleaning the counters and making sure the room was nice and tidy. He didn't like things being out of place, or dirty, so he tried to clean after making each meal. It might wait till after the meal was eaten, especially if they were sitting down to eat together, but it was always cleaned up soon after.

He knew Agatha was in the house, she didn't leave all that often, and he wasn't even surprised when she wandered into the kitchen. It was the tone of voice she spoke with, the words, that had him turning his focus away from the stove top that he'd been cleaning. The sponge in his hand was set down, and his hands washed off quickly as he spoke. "No, no guests. What's going on?" Following her gaze, looking out the windows, he saw something moving as well. He didn't have his henshin pen on his person at the moment, he didn't need it in the house, but it wasn't far away either. It was always in the same room, incase he ever got a call from someone and he had to power up and mirror walk quickly. It wasn't hard to get now, it was on the kitchen tabel where breakfast was typically had.

Walking over to it, drying his hands as he went, he grabbed the wing adorned pen with one hand while the cloth was set on the table in it's place.

"It seems we have an unwanted guest. I suppose I'll have to see them off." Liam would handle things unless Agatha wanted to help, which she very well might, but it didn't seem like something which would be hard. He could handle most things with some amount of ease. He would, over dinner tonight, let Aloysius know about this. It wouldn't be to worry him, as he didn't want to do that, but rather it was the want to be transparent with his spouse. He liked to let him know what was going on, just incase.

With the mention of no guests, her mood soured more, and she followed Liam towards the front door after he'd grabbed his own henshin pen. While she was still unsure of the greater idea of doing things related to magic and the responsibilities that came with it, this seemed like an unavoidable moment to act.

"I think it might be best for me to join you as well on this..." Looking between him and the door, she steeled herself, then pushed it open and stepped out into the snow.

That flickering of sigils and code as she powered up felt foreign in some ways, now that she'd been living without that side of things for a few months. But the hat upon her head kept the falling snow from getting in her hair and face as she looked ahead at the approaching creatures. There were two of them now, but she could tell with the swirling snow that more might be on the way.

"Do you have any idea what those are?" She asked, not sure if she recognized them from the information she had on what youma were. They didn't feel like them either, but she hadn't given it much time or thought before she'd cast things aside for a quieter life.

"You are sure about that? I can handle it." That said as he stepped out into the cold, powering up as soon as his feet hit the doorstep and the door was closed behind them. "I don't like having this in my own yard." He didn't like anything which would endanger his family, his home, because it would no doubt bother his spouse.

"No, no idea. They aren't youma. I'm guessing it's this winters latest magical mayhem." Had anyone informed her of how fall and winter went in this city? Summer wasn't bad, really all they might get is something mild going on involving the cities alien merchant but nothing really bad. It was always spooky season which saw s**t like this happening.

"You get one and I get the other?" He didn't know what her magic did, he hoped it was something good, his own wasn't going to be as useful as he would have liked. At least he had the physical strength to handle one of these winter wolves. "My magic won't do any damage, just so you know, it makes people love me...or something similar." At least till it hit eternal magic, than it flipped, but either way it didn't deal damage. "I can handle them physically." This was why he put in time at the gym, among other reasons.

While she had an idea that her magic might not do much in this case, she did pull something from subspace, a dulled letter opener that she'd had from before, even if she couldn't remember when or where she'd acquired it.

"Of course, I really don't like being disturbed, and I doubt Desiree would like to be greeted on her return from errands by these guests." Pointing the letter opener at one of them, she stepped forward towards it with a glare.

"One each, hopefully before these decide to call for more. Mine might help prevent them from calling for backup, but..." she shook her head. This wasn't the time to stall.

Focusing, she teleported behind the thing and lunged towards its back with the letter opener. The world spun slightly, but she found enough of a mark on their back to hit home. It turned back to try and bite her, getting her hair, but nothing more as she moved with it.

What caught her eye was the frost that formed over her hair, and she kicked at the thing before stepping back. "Don't get bitten." A simple warning as she circled with the thing, even as it whined slightly from the object stuck in its back.

Laughing Melpomene nodded his head. "I date say our guests would bother my husband as well. They certainly werne't invited and came unanounced as well - very rude." Trying to sound as posh, and snobbish, as he could while smiling at his words. "If you need help let me know." He would help her, because of course he would, he wanted their guests gone and the quicker the better. He didn't want either Aloysius or Desiree to come home to this, even though he would be telling Aloysius about them.

Watching her teleport he sighed, not for the first time wishing he could do the same, teleporting would be useful in a fight. Mirror walking was good for escaping - not fighitng. Watching her reappear and start her attack he moved in on his own wolf and went right to kick at it hard. He'd use his magic if he needed to, but only if he needed to, there was no point in wasting his magic just yet. He didn't think it would help much in this fight anyway, it wasn't offensive. "Of course not, I'll try not to. You do the same. I doubt being bitten by it would do either of us any favors." He didn't want to see what sort of damage a bite would do, or if they'd suffer some sort of magical issue afterwards. He'd heard enough about bunny rabbits, from Rene, that he knew he didn't want to get bitten by anything produced by the winter magic.

Dualite made a face at the mention of the other man, the one she still wasn't sure she liked at all. But the different way Liam spoke did sound like them, and for that, she did crack the smallest smile.

Kicking at the wolf again, aiming for the letter opener that remained in its back, she tilted her head in confusion as the thing seemed to fizzle slightly, almost as if it wasn't able to keep itself together. It was enough of an opening for it to claw at her, getting her arm before she went at it again with more force as she yelled.

"How dare you!"

The frost spread over her arm, at least keeping her from bleeding onto the ground, something that wouldn't be a welcome sight for anyone coming to the manor.

"If you can make them love you, can't you make them fight each other?" She hazarded that guess but it seemed like a better option even as both of the thigns seemed to flicker more as they took damage. It didn't stop them from attacking, getting more desparate and she wanted to avoid becoming a chew toy.

Melpomene's own attention shot towards her, as he heard her shout, and he saw what seemed to be a bite on her arm. "s**t!" Cursing as she had to have been bitten, and something magical was happening, he hoped he wouldn't have to call the Evan's family doctor to help. This would be a bit hard to explain, and it wouldn't be the usual sort of call either, but he was certain the man would come to help.

"I can try, it should work..." He knew about what his magic did, not exactly though, he'd never felt his own magics effects so it was part guess really. But it was worth a try, as he stepped back quickly from his own wolf, and managed to get close enough to both wolves that he could use his magic and have it work on the two of them. "True Loves Kiss" Blowing a kiss into the air as he let his magic start it's work.

That ice on her arm didn't look so good, even if it was keeping her from bleeding, he knew that also wasn't normal and ice on the skin could cause a few problems - problems they'd need to avoid. Damn it. He might need to call the doctor but he was certain Aloysius and Desiree would be worried and upset about this whole thing. His magic wasn't something he fully understood, having never been hit with it, but he knew it worked to take the fight out of others and filled them with this need to care for others. If it could be shaken, or overcome, he didn't know nor did he know how easy it would be to shake. Could animal instinct beat it? All things he wasn't entirely sure on, he didn't have to use his magic often, but it seemed to be working on the wolves - for now.

Both of them, especially the injured one, seemed to shrink into themselves as they nosed at each other and back away from them...low whines leaving their muzzles. The injured one, still leaking slush, was being cared for by the other. "Looks like my magics got ahold of them both." Taking the opportunity to strike out at the uninjured one, to bring them down, the blond was quick and harsh in his attack.

While she would have paid more attention to whatever his magic had done, she was more focused on her arm for a moment now that neither of the things was attacking. Flexing her fingers, everything seemed to move still, even if it hurt.

"Good, it worked." Shaking her hand out gently, she followed his action and kicked at the one she'd already damaged. Between both attacks, the wolves seemed to fade away back into the swirling snow, and she waited only a few seconds before powering back down and letting that glamour of hers fall back into place.

"Back inside, I suppose, then we can get this wrapped up and have lunch." The slight annoyance bleeding into her voice at the fact that something had gotten her, but at least she was comfortably back in that human disguise of hers. The lightly tanned skin of hers covered what had just been grey with that darkened shade upon her fingers.

"At least they didn't leave anything behind, so we don't have to clean up." Because otherwise it would have been even more of a bother, at least the rude guests had been kind enough to clean up after themselves this time.

"I'm glad it worked, I'm never entirely sure." As he didn't use it often, there was no real need, his court didn't get into a lot of fights and he got into even fewer. "Looks like they're gone." And, as she said, the clean up was done so there wasn't anything to worry about in that way. He just had to worry about her and whatever that bite would do to her - was doing to her.

"Do you feel anything different? Colder than you should or anything else?" He needed to know, to be sure she was ok, he'd be keeping an eye on her all damn day to be honest. He'd want to keep her safe, be ready to call Lorcan if need be, he'd speak with his husband once he was home. He wouldn't keep this visit from the other, he was good about sharing information with his partner.

"Yes, we can go have lunch and you can tell me about anything you've learned about recently and ofund interesting, or ask me anything you'd like." Because he would make himself avalible to her, in whatever way he could, in order to help her. She was on her husbands team and he would always support his partner and this household.

Turning back from the doorway, he asked if she felt different. She could only really say that she felt a bit chily but it wasn't that bad.

"Just a little cold, but otherwise just a bit of pain from getting hit by the thing. Nothing too bad, I think." Perhaps it was because of the cold, dampening what might otherwise hurt more.

"Alright, we can do that. Come on before more of the snow tumbles in."
Trying to usher them back inside, she was done with the excitement for the day.
