Quote: Biting Chill ( 18 ) : The cold is strangely harsh, and even the still wind is vicious enough to sting. But the cold isn't the worst part of tonight--it's what comes with it. Out of a swirl of blowing snow, a massive, wispy wolf takes shape, enormous and snarling, with fur spiked like jagged icicles. Its eyes glow with a cold, wild intelligence, and before you can even react, it lunges as though you’ve trespassed deep into its territory. Every strike it makes feels like the bite of winter itself. Wherever its claws slash, wherever its jaws snap, frost cakes over. Even if you're lucky enough not to take massive damage, the cold seeps bone deep. When you manage to land a hit, the creature bleeds a strange, clear blood--icy water that freezes instantly into slush on the ground. The more damage it takes, the more its form flickers, shredded like wind-torn snow. The wolf fights with the relentless instinct of a dire beast, but it is not invulnerable. It will never run. It will fight until its body is broken and flickering, then--finally--a sudden gust will rip through the air and carry its dissolving body away. Howls echo on the wind. The rest of its pack probably isn't too far behind. Note: This strange wolf is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to meet battle requirements. You can use the prompt for as many characters as you like and it will count as a battle requirement, however if you repeat the prompt with the same character, only the first time will be usable as a battle. Something about tonight felt colder than the previous one, leaving Feronia to leave the house in his fuku and wander with more caution, his ears perked up and twitching towards any sound that he heard as he pushed through the trees and towards a new direction for tonight's adventure. The air was colder, sharper too, and it had him more on edge, especially as he felt another presence nearby. It felt similar, maybe? But that had never been his strong point, even now, since Antisana had told him about things a little bit at a time. While the person ahead had their back to him, he could have sworn he saw something moving in the snow. From his hiding spot behind one of the trees, he tried to lean forward to get a better look. The sound of a snapping branch startled him even as he realized it had been his own foot that had betrayed him. Looking down, then back up, he did see a new form taking shape in the snow closer to him than the person ahead. Was it another of the creatures like before? It didn't look like the warped avian... So instead, he moved out from the trees and headed towards the other person, keeping an eye on the new creature as it watched him in turn.

Given the wide variety of unfamiliar seasonal attractions this planet hosted, Lovas wasn't expecting to participate in the same experiences twice in such short order. But when he found himself gravitating toward the aura of another Senshi- an unfamiliar one, none he knew were at the level of ability this aura possessed- something else seemed to be close on the Senshi's heels. Something familiar. Something he probably should've learned to stay away from. Something he hadn't successfully learned to stay away from. The frosty creature manifested with a milder temperament toward the green-haired boy than it had with Lovas, but a predator was a predator, and Lovas doubted it would just hang back and watch in perpetuity. Lovas moved past the smaller boy without a word, only a quick flash of a feral, fanged smile by way of greeting as he dove to engage the frozen tundra beast. He had seen it emerge once before (and had admittedly found it to be more than he could handle alone...), and he was not one to back down from a challenge. Besides! Why would the green-haired boy seek out another aura if not to find a companion to defend himself with? If the wolf had only been watching before, it definitely wasn't, anymore. When Lovas lunged for it, it did the same, meeting in a great mesh of teeth, claws, and vicious snarls

The smile shocked him; something about it seemed very sharp compared to most other quick introductions he'd had so far, but there wasn't really much time for a proper introduction as everything quickly shifted. The scene before him had him fretting, weight shifting between each foot as he looked between both the fellow senshi and the icy creature. It was much bigger than the avian abomination, and the snarls had him hesitating to do much more than step just slightly closer. While the last time he'd helped out, there had been more distance between his ally and the thing, this time there wasn't, and it had him even more cautious on what to do until an idea hit him. He had some fruit with him, maybe a bit over ripe with how things seemed to work in his subspace, but there wasn't time to think on it more as he pulled out one of the oranges and heaved it at the monster. "Ah! Please don't get hurt helping!" More of a warning for the senshi since he wasn't sure if they'd approached the thing because of him or because they liked to fight. Regardless of the reason, his ears dropped as he took another tenattive step closer in case they told him to do more than what he'd tried so far.

Lovas was not going to beaten around by the same creature twice. Although, admittedly... the Page boy who had helped him fend the wolf off the first time had not stood quite so far away, had been right up in the animal's business with him. But that was fine! Knights were supposed to be up in their enemy's business, and most Senshi were built more for distance, and he wouldn't hold it against any fragile-looking thing for maintaining necessary space. Most Senshi. Not Lovas. Lovas had the benefit of being nearly the same size as the wolf and the benefit of experience hunting predators that certainly looked like they should have no problem ripping him to shreds. Could rip him to shreds, if he had no caution. And caution... Well, that wasn't one of the things he was particularly adept at- which was probably obvious, given that he was attacking a huge monster with his bare hands. A monster whose claws were longer than his, whose fangs were sharper, whose body radiated a cold so cutting that it shouldn't even be touched. Lovas persevered. They crashed into the ground, a tangle of frigid claws and long limbs. He grabbed for a fistful of chilly fur around the wolf's mane, shoving at its head as large teeth scraped over Lovas' shoulder, drawing blood, sinking a chill into his bones that made it near-impossible to even move. But when the options are 'move' or 'die,' you find a way. As he always had. It crushed a paw over his ribs, and the air erupted out of Lovas' chest in a desperate gasp. For just a single second, he thought- well, it might actually kill him. And then... something, Lovas wasn't sure what, pelted the side of the wolf's maw, and both Lovas and the creature looked to its source. The creature abandoned him near immediately, its weight lifting from Lovas' chest as it turned toward the smaller Senshi. He sucked in a gulp of air as he rolled to his feet, gaze quick to sweep for the boy, and finding that he didn't have much space if he was trying to stay out of the monster's range. " Run!" Lovas barked, in case it wasn't obvious.

Feronia's eyes widened as the wolf turned its attention towards him. There wasn't really any time to react, but his arms started moving even as the wolf got hold of his left wrist. "C-cherry storm!" It came out as a little yelp as the wolf caught him in its cold jaws, and he felt his heart racing now that he saw it up close and felt it bite in deep. While it didn't help, the few groundcherries that fell and hit both him and the wolf seemed to do something. There were far more this time than there had been last time, but he felt weak as more and more of them pelted him and the monster. "Help!" Though his cry came out quieter and much more panicked as he tried to pull at the thing's jaw with his free hand to get it to release him. It was so cold now, much colder than he'd felt even when out without a coat, and it left his teeth chattering as he managed to get his fingers into the side of the wolf's mouth to try and work it off of him. Indigo_Plateau Super Sailor Scout Attack: Feronia Cherry Storm
Feronia throws his arms up as he calls for his magic and a rain of some magical unripe groundcherries follows the arc of his tossing motion. They pop with a magical little spark and if they hit someone, it can cause the sensation of moderate blunt force damage, and will release a sweet-smelling plume of toxic smoke that mimic the poisoning that comes with eating unripe groundcherries. This might include breathing difficulties, trembling, weakness, and slight paralysis. The effects will fade when the magic ends unless players decide to take lasting damage.

Ahhh... As Lovas pulled himself up through little more than force of will, broke into a run to fling himself at the creature again, he was starting to have a realization... Not every Senshi would be explicitly helpful to have beside him in a fight. This small one might even be more of a... liability? It was nice that there was another body to take some of the wolf's attacks, but- and he could be wrong, since Lovas didn't have long to get a good look as he crashed into the monster's figure, ripping it off the smaller boy- but the other Senshi's attacks seemed to hurt himself. Perhaps even more than the wolf. He couldn't even tell where his own injuries were. The temperature had dropped so hard that he could barely feel his own appendages. But he knew there was blood because he could see it- and the wolf didn't bleed. ...Just leaked. Seeped a frigid, slushy liquid. It's jaws ripped over the smaller Senshi's wrist, head snapping around to gnaw at Lovas' arm where he tried to fit his meaty biceps around it in such a way that he might... choke it? But its head was large and it was protected by so much fur. And so many teeth. And so huge. Paws scrabbling, scratching, punching at him. There weren't many weak areas. But there were a few- none Lovas wanted to approach with no protection, but they seemed to be past that point of reasoning. So he punched a fist directly down its throat, earning a warbled, strangled noise as it reared back to escape him- Not that he was going to allow it. He lurched forward, keeping on it and keeping pressure on his arm because Lovas literally could not tell what was happening with his own body besides that he could see that the wolf didn't like choking on his fist. And there was like a nonzero chance that it would simply take his arm off, but Lovas could barely tell.

His wrist was free, but now Feronia could see the deep teeth marks pierced into his flesh. Two thoughts swirled through his mind as he watched blood start melting the layer of frost that was over his skin. One was the morbid thought that even if he'd need to be laid to rest to finish the ritual, it had never really needed bloodshed before. The other thought was of how much it had hurt, both from the bite itself and from the jagged pull of teeth as the other senshi had gotten it off of him. It left him feeling lightheaded, but he had to do something, right? They hadn't said it explicitly, but this felt like the time to do something. "H-hold your breath!" It was enough of a warning as he struggled with his injured arm. "Cherry Storm!" This time, they didn't land on him, probably since he was trying for a target not directly on top of him. The wolf thing didn't like it, which might have had him hesitate if it hadn't just tried to rip his hand off. Pulling his wrist up with his uninjured hand, he tried to press down to stop it from bleeding as he looked around, worried that more might show up. At least this one seemed to be leaking so much of whatever it was made out of that it started to look like it was struggling to exist, just like the tar-covered monster bird.

The creature was on its back, Lovas on top of it, his fist half down its throat. It writhed, bashing heavy paws into him. Made the most miserable strangled noises- the sounds of the dying often were. The other Senshi's attack pelted them, leaving heavy little nobs where they struck. Lovas was aware only passively that someone was helping fend off the wolf. There was barely any feeling left in any part of his body. Everywhere the monster touched had frozen so deeply that he was practically numb; even the blots of blood that had sprung up from his veins were frozen over on his skin. Some sort of fog, smoke, steam- fizzled up from the wolf's body. Its thrashing lessened. Muscles twitched, and the frosty sludge that seeped from its wounds leaked freely into a freezing pool beneath them. It faded out of existence with no more fanfare than it had emerged, once there, and now not. As it disappeared from beneath him, Lovas crumpled hard to the ground, limbs folding awkwardly beneath him. He could barely feel them through the cold- had no idea how injured he was or how grievous that bites and slashes besides to know that they must have covered him quite substantially. Even when he spoke, no mist Rose from his breath in the cold air. "I can't... move," Lovas grumbled, face against the ground. His gaze was a little hazy as he tried to find the other Senshi, voice low, but the corners of his lips still quirked up. And even if the situation wasn't fantastic, he had said he wasn't going to lose to the stupid wold again. And he hadn't. It was vanquished. Disappointingly with no corpse left behind to harvest, but... that was fine...

Feronia watched nervously, his ears pressed back as he tried to hold back a whine from how much his wrist hurt. He'd never gotten hurt like this before, and as the other senshi so brutally finished the thing off, he felt sick to his stomach over seeing such violence. Even as they fell, they had that feral smile that sent a chill down his spine. It made him hesitate more, standing there even as they lay on the ground and complained about not being able to move. When nothing else showed up, no more swirling snow filled with monsters, he cautiously approached and knelt down on the ground by them. With his free hand, he tried to check them over as best as he could between nervous glances around the area. "Okay, give me a moment, then I can try helping..." His voice wasn't as chipper as it had been. This senshi scared him, but not as much as the monsters, so he'd help them. With another look around, he did his best to try and get the senshi up, even if it left him yelping slightly as his hurt wrist hit them. His goal wasn't too far, just back towards one of the benches further ahead near the treeline.
