Biting Chill ( 18 ) : The cold is strangely harsh, and even the still wind is vicious enough to sting. But the cold isn't the worst part of tonight--it's what comes with it. Out of a swirl of blowing snow, a massive, wispy wolf takes shape, enormous and snarling, with fur spiked like jagged icicles. Its eyes glow with a cold, wild intelligence, and before you can even react, it lunges as though you’ve trespassed deep into its territory. Every strike it makes feels like the bite of winter itself. Wherever its claws slash, wherever its jaws snap, frost cakes over. Even if you're lucky enough not to take massive damage, the cold seeps bone deep. When you manage to land a hit, the creature bleeds a strange, clear blood--icy water that freezes instantly into slush on the ground. The more damage it takes, the more its form flickers, shredded like wind-torn snow. The wolf fights with the relentless instinct of a dire beast, but it is not invulnerable. It will never run. It will fight until its body is broken and flickering, then--finally--a sudden gust will rip through the air and carry its dissolving body away. Howls echo on the wind. The rest of its pack probably isn't too far behind.
Note: This strange wolf is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to meet battle requirements. You can use the prompt for as many characters as you like and it will count as a battle requirement, however if you repeat the prompt with the same character, only the first time will be usable as a battle. Urda's patrol had started out as peaceful as one could hope for, considering the season and what, in general, was out and about in the dead of night in Destiny City. He had decided to go on patrol after a long pause—school finals and grueling soccer practices being the main reasons—and things had been all quiet on the home front until he rounded the exact wrong corner in one of his favorite parks. An eerie wind that seemingly came from nowhere swept past him, and he watched in half amazement, half shock, at the creature that materialized.
He marveled for maybe two seconds before it lunged at him, its teeth grazing his arms and sending a deep chill to course through ******** made a mad dash for a Chaos signature that suddenly crept into his senses, really only half conscious of it but thinking if he could shake off the thing, better someone on the other side of the war than an ally.

He had been out patrolling and had even drained a few people lightly. There were scores of people out shopping and no one looked at the business suited man twice, the worst he got were looks for lack of an overcoat. Nor did they even question the dip of energy that they felt as they walked past. His uniform really was the perfect disguise, Wade just wished it was a little bit warmer. He made a mental note to ask Beni about layering or seeing if there was something that could help with the bitter cold. Otherwise how did they expect anyone to hit their quotas when it was quite literally freezing out. Wade was on his way to a spot he knew that was packed with suits just looking for a few drinks after a hard day's work, skirting through the park to shorten the time outdoors, when a stronger order aura pingged on his mental radar. Someone was rapidly approaching. Someone from the other side of this ridiculous ‘war’. Seriously? Why fight? It was pointless anyway. Like the little shits in this city had any hope in the long run anyway, not when the Negaverse had the rest of the world locked down pretty damn well and nothing had really happened. So why fight? Eyes widened as he took in the rapidly approaching senshi, and the creature chasing him, and mentally answered his own question. Thats why…. ********>. He hesitated for a moment, losing all opportunity to actually run away, before the monster wolf was on him and Wade’s first reaction was to punch the creature while it snapped at him. His hand instantly chilled and he could have sworn that the direwolf, or whatever Game of Thrones creature it was, flickered. What was that damn gaming term for leading a combative monster to someone? He knew there was a term but he had no idea what it was. Not at that moment at least. Not as he jumped out of the way of the snapping jaws of the snowy creature, nor as he hissed in pain when his next punch left him feeling like he had dunked his hand in ice water. <******** this monster, ******** the kid that brought him there, and ******** this cold! Wade needed to get some of those chemical hand warmers to stash in his pockets if he had any more nights like tonight.

Honestly he didn't think it would work quite as well as it did, but he wasn't so much of an a*****e that he would proceed to then abandon ship and leave the agent to his own devices. Not that he had any fondness for the Negaverse or anyone aligned with Chaos, but he couldn't just leave either considering they might in turn lead the wolf to innocent civilians in the name of weakening some for more energy draining.
So Urda, as soon as the wolf had switched targets, skidded to a stop and turned around, calling out his magic as he punched the ground. A small thorn bush had cropped up just in time to catch the wolf's next bite. The agent seemed to be lingering around it, trying to punch it into nonexistence. If his energy level was anything to go by, he probably didn't have any other weapon besides his fists. So.
Urda bit his tongue to keep himself from commenting on how stupid he thought that plan was, then punched twice more in quick succession, trying to aim his attacks so the bushes came up beneath it to do whatever damage they could.
Basic — Urda Thorn Shrub! He summons a Blackthorn shrub by placing the palm of his hand on the ground while facing his intended target. The shrub rapidly grows around the intended target, trapping them from the waist and below. While inside the shrub, the target will experience the sensation of being pricked by little thorns for 25 seconds, after which the shrub withers away. It feels similar to the tingles that come when blood circulation is restored to a limb that’s fallen asleep. It’s possible to escape, though not without sustaining actual physical injury from the thorns in the shrub. The injuries would largely be minor, though if one is extra careless it could be a little bit worse than that. Can be used up to 3 times in battle.

He had honestly thought the senshi would have kept running after kitting the damn creature to him so it was surprising to see a bush start to grow under the frozen wolf thing. Wade stepped back to eye the monster as it quickly became marred in the thorny bush that had formed around it, a bit weary that it would affect him as well. He didn’t particularly relish the idea of becoming a pin cushion like the wolf. But as the wintery creature thrashed about in the shrub it was clear it was stuck and Wade grinned. He knew senshi magic was limited so he took advantage and launched himself at the trapped wolf, punching with everything he had. With each strike, it’s form flickering like a bad tv, fuzzing in and out of focus with each hit. His hands were numb, his bones ached, and yet he still punched, and even threw in a kick every so often until the creature let out one final howl of pain and broke into a bunch of little flurries of snow, swirling away into the darkness. Cold and quite literally numb, it took Wade a good few seconds to realize the wolf was gone for real. It wasn’t reforming. The fight was done… At least the one with the monster. Wade turned his attention towards the senshi, a chilling glint in his eyes. He didn’t really care that he was facing off against a stronger opponent. Or that he couldn’t feel his fingers. The officer truly didn’t appreciate being tossed to the wolves, or wolf in this case. He definitely wasn’t going to let this insult fly without a little payback, and maybe some energy or a starseed. Yeah, a starseed would do quite well for compensation. Quite well…

He'd always thought that agents were by no means slouches when it came to fighting, and watching this one punch and kick this one until it literally turned into slush and disappeared proved that very correct. She gave a low whistle at the sight, straightening up and dusting off his hands as he considered he'd done his fair share in this fight, constraining the thing to a single spot and making it an easy target for the agent's brute force attack.
When he turned on him though, Urda frowned and considered his options. These guys could teleport so it didn't matter that much if he tried to run, though he had to at least try. Abby had been training him to fight, sure, but against someone that could do that?
He would have to take his training a little bit more seriously if he wanted to go toe to toe with these guys in the future.
"Look," he said, gesturing at the remnants of his summoned thorn shrubs while taking a step back to keep some distance between them. With the teleporting it probably didn't matter, but it felt like a good idea anyway. "I just needed a second to do something about the thing." He took another step back. "I held it still for you, didn't I?" And then another. "You weren't exactly helpless!"
And then he punched the ground, calling forth one more attack and aiming it straight at the agent, before turning and bolting.
Super — He summons a large, dense Blackthorn shrub by placing the palm of his hand on the ground while facing his intended target(s). The shrub rapidly grows around up to 2 targets, fully trapping them inside. While inside, the target(s) will experience the sensation of being pierced by thorns for 30 seconds, after which the shrub withers away. It feels similar to getting lightly pricked by a lot of little needles at the same time. It’s possible to escape, though the sensation is incredibly unpleasant and would feel more like being cut with small knives. Players can choose to take lasting damage; at this stage, this might feel like papercuts, small punctures, or even moderate slashes. Can be used up to 2 times in a battle.

The senshi was afraid… good, he should be. Wade took another step forward. He was contemplating jumping at the other male, tackling and beating him before yanking his starseed but his feet felt oddly disconnected so his first few steps were unstable. “And yet you still-” His response was cut off when a giant wall of thorns sprang up around him, eliciting curses from the trapped officer. All of them directed at the senshi rapidly running away, leaving him trapped in the small tomb of scrub. He pressed against the woven wall of branches, the thorns pricking into his numb skin. It tingled and smarted but it also felt better then the bone deep chill he had felt since fighting the wolf. By the time the bush withered and disappeared the shenshi was long gone, at least as far as Wade could tell. With a final curse and a mental vow to get that brat back later, Wade left the park. As he limped into the darkness, looking forward to the hot tub at home, he tried to work the cold out of his arms and legs. Maybe hot water would warm his extremities up, if it didn’t he would have to come up with some other way. But that would have to wait, first he had to get home. He just hoped he didn’t encounter that Ice Wolf again.
