Carrollite had decided that it was a decent enough night to patrol and see if she could sneak some energy from unsuspecting folks. But at the same time there was a sigh as she debated what she was doing.
The rain had left some areas quite slippery and fairly difficult to navigate but she didn't mind really. Her boots were at least gripy enough that it didn't cause her too much trouble to walk over the icy patches if she was careful enough.
She didn't have a ton in mind for what she wanted but at least there was a nice night and she could think about it without the concern her sister would think she needed some sort of intervention.
Ice Bath (2) : Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet.

Zenobia’s small boots crunched over the icy ground, her eyes widening as she spotted a tall figure moving through the faint drizzle. She stayed where she was, shivering slightly, unsure whether to approach or hide.
“Who… are you?” she whispered, her voice barely carrying over the slick, quiet street. The energy around the stranger made her stomach twist nervously, but she couldn’t tear her gaze away.
She hadn't expected an order signature, much less one belonging to a - kid. There was a pause when she seemed perhaps intimidated by her.
The lieutenant thought about her answer as she felt the ground under her feet the further she moved growing slippery. Puffing one cheek out in thought she sighed and replied, "Oh I'm just one of Santa's helpers. Carrollite's the name."
She was hoping the child would buy it considering her Christmas light strand was hanging on her hip. She thought she might could pull off a little white lie. However, she was sure that the child could feel her energy signature much like she could feel hers, "See I'm part of the helpers that have to check on the naughty listers. Perhaps some of them have managed to redeem themselves off the naughty list."
She wasn't about to bother a kid with the negaverse stuff and just another reason for her to hate her job tonight. Which was something she didn't need. As long as the kid went along and didn't try to throw some sort of funky magic at her she didn't have to worry about anything.

Zenobia tilted her head slightly, emerald eyes flicking to the strand of Christmas lights at Carrollite’s hip before lifting back to her face. She didn’t move closer, but she didn’t run either.
“Santa’s helpers don’t usually feel… like that,” she said quietly. There was no accusation in her tone, just a gentle honesty. After a brief pause, she added, “But I guess helpers can be different too.”
Her hands stayed at her sides, her expression polite but unconvinced as she watched the lieutenant carefully.
She tried not to make a face when Zenoobia said that Santa's helpers don't normally feel like that. Yup Carrollite did her best to keep the 'oh s**t' look off of her face, when the child added she guessed helpers could be different too.
"That's right." She said with a nod softly and smile, "Helpers can be different, just like people can be different."
She seemed to think, "What brings you out this late at night child?" She was curious why a kid was out and about in this cold not to mention how slippery it was. She seemed to think, "Do you want a hot chocolate? I think Santa would be mad at me if I didn't offer to buy you one." She said softly with a smile. Hopefully she could get this child to go home where it was in Carrollite's opinion safer and honestly warmer.

Zenobia shifted her weight carefully, boots scraping faintly against the ice as she glanced down the street and then back at Carrollite.
“My mom says not everyone who smiles is safe,” she said softly, almost like she was repeating a rule she’d been taught. Then she shook her head quickly, as if worried she’d said too much. “Not that I think you’re bad or anything.”
She hugged her arms close to herself against the cold, watching Carrollite with a cautious, thoughtful expression. “I just don’t want any problems.”
Carrollite wobbled her head from side to side for a moment thinking, "Nawh you're right kid." She sighed and shrugged.
The kid did look cold though and Carrollite seemed to think before pulling a scarf out of her subspace and offering it to her, "Here, you look like you could use an extra layer. You can keep it."
Carrollite shrugged softly, "If I was going to cause problems it'd been right when I saw you, not standing here talking to you."

Zenobia hesitated when the scarf was offered, her eyes flicking from it back up to Carrollite’s face. After a brief pause, she reached out and took it, fingers curling into the fabric.
“…Thank you,” she said quietly, wrapping it around her neck after a moment. It did help, even if she didn’t fully relax.
She looked back up at Carrollite, expression still guarded but polite. “I believe you,” she added, after a beat. Not fully—but enough. “I just… like to be careful.”
Zenobia took a careful step back, meaning to put a little more distance between them. The ice beneath her boot cracked sharply.
“Wait—”
The ground gave out, and she vanished with a small yelp as the frozen puddle shattered beneath her, swallowing her whole in a rush of icy black water.
Carrollite nodded and smiled, "You're welcome." She said to the chibi. She didn't want anyone to be cold, especially a child. There was a shrug and a sigh, "I can't blame you."
There was a moment when the child seemed to fall and Carrollite froze for a second "Shitshitshit, s**t!" The lieutenant had hesitated and suddenly grabbed her Christmas lights and tried to use them to catch the child before she disappeared completely, even if she could wrap the end around her arm. Carrollite knew it'd give her a better chance of finding the child and pulling her out.
Then she bolted to the ground plunging her arm in after Zenobia trying to grab for the child hoping she could pull her out quickly. "What the actual ********!? This is suppose to be a pot hole not a freaking river to the ocean!"
She complained before pulling her goggles down and shoving her face into the water as well to make sure she could see the child and pull her out to safety.

The shock of the cold made Zenobia gasp, but she forced herself to move, kicking hard against the unseen water below her. She reached upward, fingers scrabbling through the dark until they caught on the glowing strand of lights.
“I—I’ve got it!” she called, voice strained but steady as she held on and tried to pull herself closer to the surface.
When Carrollite could get her hand around Zenobia's arm after pulling her closer with the light string she grabbed the chibi firmly and worked to pull her out of the watery hole.
She wished she could teleport though as that would make it easier because she could just teleport them out of the situation, but alas. Instead she just had to rely on the extra muscle power that being powered up gave her. "I'll have you out of here in a jiffy." She said hoping she actually was right and it was that easy.

Zenobia coughed as she was hauled upward, water streaming from her hair and sleeves. She clung to Carrollite’s arm, kicking until her boots found solid ground again.
“I—I’m okay,” she said between breaths, even as she trembled from the cold. Her grip didn’t loosen right away, but she managed a small, determined nod once she was clear of the hole.
When Carrollite had the kid out of the puddle she looked back to it and sighed, "Good, but we're getting you somewhere warm."
She said scooping up the kid thinking about where the closest place could be, "There's a bakery near by that's still open, I'll get you over there and drop off you in the alleyway." She said, "I'll leave and you can go in however you want."
Carrollite wasn't going to stick around because she didn't want some senshi thinking she'd been the cause of this problem but she also didn't want the little one to catch a cold. She also pulled a few dollars from her subspace and handed it to the kid, "You can use this to get a hot chocolate and a pastry or something too. That should warm you right up!"

Zenobia stiffened a little when she was lifted, then relaxed once she realized what Carrollite was doing. She nodded, teeth chattering despite herself.
“Okay,” she said softly. When the money was offered, she hesitated, then shook her head. “Th-thank you, but… you already helped enough.”
She clutched the scarf tighter around her neck and looked up at Carrollite. “I won’t forget this,” she added quietly, before glancing toward the bakery lights nearby.
Carrollite frowned a bit but nodded when the child declined the money. When she sat her down she patted her head and gave a quick wave. "Get warm, stay out of puddles okay?"
"Maybe we'll meet again." She gave a wave and turned and disappeared behind the business as she made a quick exit to avoid running into any additional troubles.
