Knight Title: Foucault, Page of the Moon.

Wonder Description: In the middle of a relatively small (~10 miles in diameter) lunar crater sits a sizable rotunda, several storeys tall, fashioned from white marble with a dome ceiling of stained glass.

From the outside, Foucault isn’t very impressive. The gardens around it were lovely once, but they have fallen into disrepair as the centuries passed. The walkway leading up to Foucault’s main building may strike visitors as far more interesting than where it leads them. Weathered mosaics decorate the path, and elegant marble statues stand beside it. These art pieces depict figures and scenes from the history of the Silver Millennium, but aside from a few pieces honoring major figures like Queen Serenity and her daughter, much of the stories behind these works has been lost to time. Either way, the approach is definitely more interesting than the Wonder’s main body, right?

Well, maybe until you get inside Foucault.

Within the rotunda is a sprawling library. Built as a panopticon, Foucault has a little tower and an observation room in the rotunda’s center, which used to provide the library’s caretakers with a workspace. (An additional out-building sits slightly north of the main building, where the library staff had their dormitories.) Long aisles with massive shelves are built around the observation tower, positioned so that the librarians could sit atop the tower and use various telescopes (long broken) to keep an eye on the patrons. Nobody wanted anyone to feel unsafe or spied on, but the Library of Foucault had several irreplaceable texts in it, knowledge from all over the Silver Millennium that was at risk of being lost. Additionally, the library was sometimes known to house artifacts that someone or another considered important. Part of the librarians’ jobs was preventing any theft.

More importantly, the librarians were tasked with keeping any patrons safe and preventing them from getting themselves or anyone else into trouble. Many of the texts and tomes housed in this library were considered dangerous, whether because they asked questions with complex and messy answers, because they contained historical information that challenged a more widely believed narrative, or because they tried to mess around with Things No One Was Meant To Know. Of course, this is something of a moot point in the 21st century. Unless someone visiting Foucault knows a language that once flourished during the Silver Millennium and happens to find a text written in that language, the most they can do these days is look at any illustrations.

(OOC: Finding any legible texts at Foucault is open to visitors with some degree of space-fluency, but will always require a plot negotiated between players and approval from staff. Likewise, finding any artifacts, such as IC RP items, will need a plot worked out between players and staff approval.)

Weapon & Magic
Page Weapon: A small sculpture of a dragon (the serpentine East Asian sort of dragon), made of pearlescent stone.

Squire Weapon: A wooden cane with an upward-facing crescent moon topper and a long, serpentine dragon curling around the cane (made of the same pearlescent stone as his page weapon).

Squire Magic: Foucault’s magic cloaks him and the area around him (up to a 10-foot radius) in moonlight. As long as he channels, enemies within the radius of effect will feel as though the moonlight is burning them and shining light on their flaws and misdeeds. This magic does not deal physical damage; any burning sensations are illusory. Any lingering effects are up to player discretion. Foucault can channel his magic for up to 30 seconds at this stage.

Knight Weapon: A wooden staff with an upward-facing crescent moon topper and a long, serpentine dragon curling around the cane (made of the same pearlescent stone as his page and squire weapons).

Knight Magic: Foucault’s magic cloaks him and the area around him (up to a 15-foot radius) in moonlight. As long as he channels, enemies within the radius of effect will feel as though the moonlight is burning them and shining light on their flaws and misdeeds. They will be more likely to notice their own mistakes and will feel like everyone else can see that they are a failure. This magic does not deal physical damage; any burning sensations are illusory. Any lingering effects are up to player discretion. Foucault can channel his magic for up to 45 seconds at this stage.
