The large room was surprisingly empty as the dull practice daggers alternated with her shins and elbows in landing hits against the dummy she'd been beating up for a while. Worked better for her like this, as she'd specifically looked through the various training rooms to find the least occupied one when she'd first gotten teleported into Negaspace by Seraphinite. It'd never made her feel comfy to train around others--first because of how clunky the movements always felt, and now just... well. More of a habit than anything.

She'd long gotten over any perceived looks or judgement she once held over the rather ridiculous 'weapons' she could summon, and did frequently practice with the plastic rings and stand they sat on. Really, it was the only reason her aim with the little donuts had gotten so good. Even if having to go pick them back up herself was a pain when she didn't have the full energy to summon them back to herself.

Seraphinite had been here earlier, training himself with his blades, and he'd given her more pointers on hand-to-hand techniques, but in the quiet of the room now... Spectrolite felt a lot more at peace. Just able to focus on her own thing, and wait for whenever Seraphinite would be back from wherever he'd gone off to to pick her up and head back to the city.

Probably the only real thing she disliked about being a lieutenant, really. The lack of teleportation ability. But everything else... okay, and the lack of a real weapon. But everything else beyond that...

She'd certainly gotten used to it, being as she'd been since she'd joined the Negaverse when she was sixteen.

The fake blade struck the dummy, and this time Spectrolite winced somewhat, feeling the force of the hit vibrating up her arm and causing her fingers to tingle. Scowling, she swapped the dagger to her other hand, flexing and shaking out her hand in an attempt to dispel the response. She'd picked up the habit of practicing with two weapons, much like Seraphinite, partly because it was just easier to try and mimic him that way, partly because she did have multiple rings in the stack if she ever used them like that, and not just projectiles...

Jet lingered in the doorway for a moment, watching the way she moved. The room echoed with the dull thud of practice blades and the quiet determination behind each strike. She reminded him a little of himself as a Lieutenant -- keeping to the quiet corners, training where no one could catch him second-guessing his own technique.

He stepped inside with an easy pace, hands tucked behind his back. He doubted his aura as a General would have drawn too much attention. Not in the castle where Generals and Captains and Lieutenants came and went. It was easier this way to hide in plain sight. Not that he was particularly hiding, but he liked seeing others more candidly when they weren’t expecting a General King’s judging eye.

“I was wondering who was hiding down here,” he said, voice warm but there was something confident underneath that never really left, even when he wasn’t at his full power. “Though I suppose ‘hiding’ might be the wrong word. You look like you’re putting in real work.”

His attention was drawn to the plastic rings stacked neatly nearby, then back to her dual-dagger stance. “You’ve made those look far less ridiculous than most people manage. I would know.”

Although there were few who knew his weapons as a Captain was a pair of daggers.

He didn’t crowd her, but he moved closer to the nearest mat, rolling one shoulder as if loosening up. “How’s the hand? That last hit looked like it bit back.”

He let a purposeful moment pass as he watched her curiously.

“If you’ve got a little left in you,” he offered, chin tipping toward the center of the room, “I wouldn’t mind a quick spar. Nothing formal, just enough for me to get a sense of you outside of the rumors Seraphinite keeps dropping.”

His smile was crooked, knowing. “I promise I won’t hit too hard.”
