No, far from pleased.
Super Sailor Massalia's arms folded over his toned chest, brown eyes narrowing in vthe most irritable of expression, once a mopey sulk on the face of a small boy pulled into the watr with his new be3st friend and now dragged back in because his AMAZING! PERFECT! WONDERFUL! AND NOBODY SAID OTHERWISE AND LIVED! girlfriend was feeling... Well... She felt called back intoi matters and Massalia hated it.
He supposed he understood though. He'd been pinching his pennies working for his fath3er since the divorce to buy a small house in the city, even if it wasn't amazing -- he scrimped and saved every penny he recieved that wasn't for bills. Even without Owen - it felt so odd to think - He'd saved and been supported by his family. Well, his father. Reuben. Even Rosario. If his mother wanted to be a b***h, well, that was her choice.
Massalia crept along in the dark unseen by local families as the senshi sized up a For Sale sign, palm resting on the sign thoughtfully. A quiet area. A good area. Maybe not wealthy but... He could make bills here with VBailey in school. Maybe build a family.
And then Massalia was thinking aboiut that. Watching a mother feed... HOW many kids did that woman have?! Massalia groaned and walked away from a house nearby, head shaking.
"Mio dios...." Massalia groaned in Spanish. "That poor mother."
Massalia resumed walking. He definitely wanted the house and he mentally went over his bank statement again. He... Might... Afford a down payment soon, maybe. He swore about goats and dogs under his breath, saving for a house was hard, but he was scriumping and seized more money with side hustles. He wished being a senshi paid. Maybe with hazard pay. He thought of the battles fought and then of Subra again.
"I should find a sparring partner." Massalia admitted finally. "Or maybe just kick some criminal's a**." Massalia shook his head, though, sighing. He didn't even know what riung to buy for proposing beyond "diamond"! Diamond what?! Diamond with the littlke pink gflittery-- actually no she's likely love more flitter. Which meant more money.
And here Massalia stood powered, not doing a side hustle to earnm the money to buy Subra the engagement ring she deserved, He needed to focuys on the future not some ancient past! To work and build a life and --
And --
....Agents he foiught in the past crossed his mind. Youma too. A quiet sense of uncertainty crossed his face silently, eyes closing. He remembered the alternate future in his dreams and sighed.
But if he didn't get off his a** then...
There'd be no fuiture. No family. Massalia watched the woman's fliock of children of many ages run outside of an old house, many of them darker and supervised by older siblings. Silence hung, minus the interruption caused by little voices laughing and giggling as they plkayhed soccer. Massalia almost wanted to power down and run and play as he spied a soccer ball. Throw away his safety to feel normal. The ball flew from the yard and stopped at his feet, and Massalia stepped back silently, hiding a bit as one of them sprinted up to the ball. Up close she was all smiles and no fear. It reminded him of Bailey, just a moment, as she stopped and picxked up her ball with a toothsome grin, looking upo.
"Hi!" The little girl waved at him happily and Massalia's heart clenched in alarm a moment before she grinned, laughed, and pointed.
"You're a scaredy caqt! Bye bye Mr. Scaredy cat!" the girl turned and returned with her ball to her siblings as if triumphant and M
Scared...? Him, scared....?
It didn't hit until later. Until he was home, and depowered.
Scared.
Daniel was silent.
He was scared. And happy a little girl was in a world she fgelt safe enough to point and laugh at a senshi.
He cried.
