Whirlwind yelps as she hears a missile exploding nearby
That was scary! Why do these these Enforcers keep shooting missiles at this airship?Maybe they don't like blimps flying over their front yard? Anyway, I'm Katie Cadell and with me is Whirlwind, a Dragon turned human from the Mermaid Princess RP Guild... Katie said to Whirlwind and the viewers
Well, we're going to be talking about a Canadian TV Game that won the hearts of those growing up in the Late 1970s, The Mad Dash.*Shows Clip*
"In just a few moments, two lucky teams will start on the road to cash and prizes on THE MAD DASH!!!"*About the Mad Dash*
The Mad Dash lasted from 1978 to 1985 on CTV Networks while it was also shown in Limited Northern US Markets and it became of the most popular TV Games to hit the airwaves.
Due to its low quality, it showed promise and potential. It was taped in Montreal & the residing host was Pierre Ladonde. It was an excellent choice since he was fluent in both English and French and he enjoyed watching players play and win.
*About the Mad Dash - Gameplay*
The Mad Dash is a Board Game Format TV Game where 2 Teams of 2 Players play (Teams of Red and Blue). One player acts as the Dasher being the Game Token while the other is the Roller who rolls the dice after General Knowledge Questions are asked and answered correctly.
A Toss Up Question is asked and the player who rings and answers the question, rolls the Dice being a Single 6-Sided Dice with the 6 being replaced with a Cash Icon and should the player land on it, a $10 Bonus is awarded.
However, in the Game Lab version since there's no 5 sided dice, the dasher moves 6 spaces ahead in addition to a $10 Bonus. But that Roller also gets to roll again.*About the Mad Dash - Game Spaces*
On the Mad Dash Game Board, there's spaces that do different things...
= Advance Forward a Number Spaces
= Go Back a Number of Spaces
= Cash Bonuses to Earn or Lose
= Prizes to Earn or Lose
There's also Mini Game Spaces... Such as Carnival Style Games, Prize Wheels and Breakaways.
The Breakaway Spaces where player runs down the board depending on what the Roller lands on.*About the Mad Dash - Scoring Rounds*
To Score in the Mad Dash, the game is played with a Best of 3 Round Format as to win a Round, the player must go from the START Space to the WIN Space. The Team to complete 2 out of 3 Rounds, wins the Game. So its a Simple Game that lasted for 7 Years.*About the Mad Dash - Mini Dash*
Some episodes featured an audience game called the “mini dash” an audience member was called down and would be asked up to 3 questions. Getting 2 out of 3 right won a prize.
However, the Mini Dash will be included as a Possible Minigame Space on the Mad Dash in the Game Lab Version.
In the Game Lab Version, the Mini Dash will be a 16 Wedge Wheel for the Roller to spin and each wedge has a different effect...
