Shomoro had been on the search of a pride to join. She'd been keeping her ears in the air for gossip about the ones that had sprung up out of no where, and she strolled through the rogue lands, perusing pride borders as she considered her options. The only one she really kept away from was the Night Plains pride, a band of outlands outcasts who had taken a grizzly approach to their lifestyle. Now, Shomoro could spar with the best of them, she was certain of that - but if anyone asked her to eat another lion... now that made her stomach turn. Besides, condoning murder was more than a little out of bounds to her personal moral code. She didn't much care for the outlands - she trusted hyenas about as far as she could throw one, and with how much those suckers weighed... it wasn't far at all. So the outlands were out, no issue there. She'd heard rumors on the wind about a mountain pride who worked alongside a fiery pit and that didn't seem at all natural. Any normal creature would fear fire, not try to utilize it. She had shaken her head dismissively, unwilling to make the journey to a mountain, only to somehow slip into the pit of fire in the base of their mountain. So now, she moved in the direction of the Pridelands border. " You would think that whoever was in charge of the Pridelands could come up with a smarter name for their home." She thought aloud. " Any pride with lions could call themselves the pride lands. What's so special about this pride that they get to monopolize the name, and everyone else just, goes along with it?" She wondered, as she picked up the distinct lion scent on the borders between the rogue lands and where these supposed Prideland lions resided. She would have to go find out, she supposed.

Kiburi had been agitated all day, something was brewing he could feel it. He paced like he was caged, relentlessly back and forth. Those who came near skittered off as fast as they could. They could all sense he was in a foul mood more than usual. His claws unsheathed as his paws hit the hard packed dirt. The sound echoed slightly enough to leave him more unsettled. He sniffed and picked up a unfamiliar scent which caused him to growl low and long. His face contorted in a sinister almost mocking smile with his teeth bared he leaped down from the rock he had jumped up on to pace and followed the scent. As he walked, he pondered who or what he would find. The King and Queen were back and in charge, things in the pridelands went back to normal. The patrols and hunts were back on schedule. The guards were posted and all was well within the lands. He no longer felt tense, uneasy and useless. His purpose was renewed, he was able ot hunt and protect the pride again. Yes he knew he was no guard or scout for he was a hunter although he would go out on his own to patrol to keep the lands and the pride safe. His mind was wandering when the scent became stronger and he looked and saw a lone female near the border of the pridelands. She seemed to be casually strolling without a care in the world. His hackles immediately rose. Of course it had to be a female! Why is it everytime I encounter a threat it is a blasted female! he muttered to himself. He moved cautiously across the lands to intercept the female intruder. He was sure she had not seen him yet although his scent would be in the air. He found a spot that would give him the advantage and awaited her to move closer.

Shomoro had strolled across the border, keeping her ears perked and her eyes open wide, hoping that she might spot someone on the horizon and wave them down. She'd be pleased as she could if they were apart of the so-called Pridelands, but hey, even another rogue looking for a place to call home could provide ample company. Her nose was the one that caught ahold of the lion, well before any of her other senses did. She'd always fancied herself a decent tracker and this lion wasn't making any moves to hide his presence. She curled her tail up and over her back, a friendly gesture, and called out to him. " I know you're out there in the tall grasses. Come out, friend, and let me know you." She beckoned to him. It was always better to be friendly than hostile, in her experience. Some may think her dim-witted for her kindness, but being placating to a lion with a ego bigger than his head was a quick way to ensure you didn't get killed in a fit of rage. She took a breath, to steady herself for whatever the encounter would bring, and added. " Better yet - I am in search of the Pridelands. Do you know if I am going in the right direction?"

Kiburi was silently watching a lioness just casually cross across the border into the pridelands like she didn't have a care in the world. Either she was very smart or very stupid! He was turning over in his mind the many possibilities of what could happen as he looked around. Scenting the air again, her scent was the only one he could detect. He knew no one else was close by and that soothed him only a tiny bit. Of course it had to be him that would find an unfamiliar lioness in the pridelands! He was sick of females between the hunt with Kijani and the stupidity of Kicheko trying to sneak in the Royal Den when they were self quarantined due to the pregnancy of he Queen, the audacity of her to act innocent like she done nothing wrong. Those among his pride didn't understand his revulsion with females. The two incidents should be reason enough in his mind. A voice pulled him from his thoughts, he was still watching her never taking his eyes off her. He rolled his eyes when he heard her ask about the right direction. He was literally stunned. Does this female not know danger when it is right in front of her? Deciding to play along with her he wanted to gague her and what better way then attempt niceties? Standing straight up, he stepped out of the grass and stopped a bit away from her, he tried to appear friendly although that was not his usual thing. "I am Kiburi, you are on the pridelands. Why have you come here?" his voice rang out strong but not dangerous, he was controlling his tone as best her could.

Shomoro walked as the lion emerged from the grasses, standing up fully and looking down at her. She offered him a friendly smile and kept her posture relaxed. She'd seen what a dangerous male looked like before, and this lion didn't fit the mold. She inclined her head graciously to him. " Hello Kiburi, my name is Shomoro." She introduced herself. He certainly was being loud, but that was just posturing, as far as she could tell. If he were a guard or scout to a pride, she had no doubt that they would have an assigned dialogue to follow when it came to newcomers. She just hoped that she could find the right words to crack the code in order to gain entry. Assuming the Pridelands was worth her joining, she hadn't entirely decided yet. It doesn't seem like there are many options out there, if it's between the murderer pride, the fire mountain pride or the Pridelands. She considered. I suppose if this doesn't work out I could go start a harem, or join one. She thought, but she really did hope that this interaction went well firt and foremost. " I am looking for a pride to join, and the Pridelands seemed like the best of the options. I am not a wicked lion, so I would not fit with the Night Plains and I'm too claustrophobic to join the unpronouncable pride in the mountains." She explained. " I was hoping to meet a Pridelands lion who could tell me more about their pride. Do you wish to be this lion, or may I come with you and you might introduce me to one of your pridemates?" She proposed, feeling at ease with the present situation.

Watching her with keen eyes, he was surprised at her. She didn't seem to realize the danger she was in. He was an unfamiliar lion, she was in unfamiliar lands, the patrols would be coming shortly, and she was acting like he was a friend she has known since she was little! He has been told by more than one member of the pride he has to get his issue with females under control and the first one he tries to be polite to and not be his true self seems to think he is a friend. Sighing to himself he watched as she walked near enough to him and inclined her head before speaking. He listened to her and tried to keep his temper in check and when he spoke his voice was loud, clear and not as sharp as he usually is. He was astonished at how oblivious she was! It seemed to him either she truly didn't know she was in danger, she didn't care, or she just was luring him in to attack. His mind played over the options and he decided to go with the first option. He knew very well if he walked away a patrol would find her and that would be a bad thing especially if one specific male found her. He was a menace to intruders. He really didn't care either way, but something poked at him. She seemed to seriously want to be here. To become part of the pride. He knew his King and Queen were gracious and welcoming. He had to make a decision, either he left her to fend for herself and be discovered by one of the patrols, he helped point her in the right direction and go on his way, he insist she wait there while he went to get someone else to intercede and take her to the King and Queen or he could take her there himself. He knew the protocol and would follow it if he chose to accompany her. He knew they were alone as far as another lion or lioness but he could smell animals and close. He breathed deeply and picked up the tangy, dank smell of hyenas. He detested those scavengers with a vengeance! To him they were nuisances. He suddenly spoke "You seem determined to attempt to join this lands pride, yet you have no understanding of the danger you are in" "I am scenting hyenas and they are getting close, a few are a nuisance but more than 5 is dangerous" "I will accompany you to where my pride is, from there you will speak to one of the guards, preferably Brunivald as he is the most agreeable to new comers" with that he scented the air again and frowned.

Yup, he's definitely posturing. Shomoro confirmed. Every time this lion opened his mouth it was with the underlying authority of a self-assured male. Still, looking up at him, he didn't seem threatening. Really, he seemed sweet, and considerate, for all the thoughtfulness he was giving her. At the mention of hyenas, she whipped her head around, ears swiveling for any of their lingering laughter. She couldn't hear anything, but that didn't mean that they weren't around. " I trust you." She told Kiburi. If he said there were hyenas nearby, she believed him, because why would anyone ever lie about something so dreadful. " Thank you for agreeing to take me with you in this time of danger. I would have been done for if the hyenas had caught me, for I missed their scent in my eagerness to arrive here." She cast a wary look over her shoulders, her awareness to her surroundings becoming more heightened, before she looked back to Kiburi. " May I walk alongside you, while we travel?" She asked, wishing to be closer to her offered protector - though she supposed that in a fight, he may not yet have her back, she would hope that someone this kind would protect her if it came down to it.
